Afternoon Tea
Reservations are required a minimum 24 hrs. in advance. Afternoon Tea is served exclusively Thursday-Sunday between 1:00pm-4:00pm.

Benjamin Bar & Lounge brings our namesake’s lifelong passions of inventions, fine beverages, and food to life in the 21st century.

Afternoon tea was first introduced in England by Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, in the year 1840. With the evening meal in her household served fashionably late at eight o’clock, the Duchess would become hungry around four o’clock, thus creating a need for an in-between meal. At Benjamin Bar & Lounge we invite you to enjoy our interpretation of this timeless tradition.

We have been to Benjamin Bar several times for afternoon tea and have been more than pleased with our visit. This time everything was up to par and expectation except the service. Our waiter was pleasant enough and initially attentive, pouring our tea, keeping the tea cups and water refilled but after the food was served he seemed to have forgotten us. We always enjoy two glasses of Trumps Sparkling wine and when the first glass was nearing empty he was no where to be found to offer a second for quite a bit of time. Then again we waited nearly an hour to get our check and then more time for him to complete the transaction. We will return with the hopes of improved service as we do thoroughly enjoy the afternoon tea. There was an event in the ballroom however that should not have taken away from regular service in the other areas.

Well, when I arrived I was wrongly directed to the BLT Prime Restaurant by a manager standing there. I told him my reservation was for Benjamin Bar and Grill but he said that was only for little food and didn’t need reservations. I would have preferred to sit there as the place is beautiful but I sat at the restaurant lower level because the top was closed. I ordered lobster bisque, good ,👍🏻, and as a second tortellini, bad, 👎🏻, over cooked and hard, I had to return it. - I would love to return and sit at the Benjamin Grill. The hotel is beautiful and I plan to stay there next time! - Later I got a message I missed my reservation at Benjamin, I DID NOT, I was miss directed.

Really awesome food and drinks but their staff seems to be in a little disarray sometimes. I had to wait for my burger and fries for about 40 minutes. They apologized and brought me a glass of champagne on the house. Beautiful and historical building with an awesome music selection that sets the tone for a great experience. I also loved the afternoon high tea!

A really special high tea experience-classy from the minute you walk in. If tea isn’t your thing the very pricey cocktails do not disappoint. If you are not cost sensitive give tea and cocktails a go.

Great afternoon tea! I enjoyed it. Everything was tasty. Worth the money, as it’s a luxurious hotel, and it also comes with both tea and champagne! It usually costs extra money to have a champagne in such tea set. I changed to mocktail instead and it was still nice. Definitely recommend.

A glass of champagne, half a sandwich and three tiny desserts, and a cup of tea, is what you get for $55/person. The sandwiches were not fresh shown by the crusty outside and the pastry bites were without flavor and I’m not sure that the scones could have been made any smaller. No place for coat or purse. Not 5 stars. However service was great and the venue is gorgeous.

I came with a group that visits DC each year that particular week.. us (spouses) have decided we want to make Trump hotel an annual event... we loved it... everyone treated us friendly with respect... our server was Christian from Peru.. a delightful young man ... I am gluten intolerant.. Christian made sure that my food was exactly what I specified when making reservations.. yes, we will be back!

Had afternoon tea. Atmosphere was to die for. However $166 for tea for two was a bit extravagant. We added the candied bacon in addition to the tea and was charged a double service charge of $25.00+ each - once for the tea sever and another for the server of the candies bacon. Not cool, just saying...

Honestly this is the worst afternoon tea place I've been so far. The treats were not fresh. They were at least 2 days old. Even I can make better madelines and maracrons than those. The tea barely had any scent. We couldn't locate our server for at least 20 minutes at a point, yet the place was not even halfway filled. And 20% gratuity was required. Definitely not worth the price.

Went for afternoon tea and it was lovely. Beautiful holiday decorations, lots of tea choices, accommodated my niece's gluten-free diet and my vegetarian preferences, comfy seating, music at the right volume, gorgeous china. Service was decent although I think it could have been a bit better. 20% should not automatically be added to the bill for a tip. Tea could have been a bit hotter. Trump brand champagne that came with the tea was actually quite good. They made a yummy "mocktail" for my niece. Overall, extremely happy with the outing and will go again.

I brought some out of town guests for afternoon tea and found the service terrible. Cold tea and a replacement came 30 mins later after I asked for the check. They also got our order wrong and didnt provide me with a new glass when I requested it. Not worth the money

Went for afternoon tea. Perhaps if 20% gratuity is not automatically included the service would be faster and impeccable. Went for a birthday celebration, the hostess acknowledged the special occasion however nothing special was done during Tea. The tea came after 5 mins but waited for an hour for the sandwiches and dessert. Wouldn’t come back again

We had a wonderful experience for High Tea. Our server was fantastic and made us feel comfortable. The ambiance was very classy. We are so glad President Trump was able to purchase the Post Office and enhance it into a hotel. We loved being greeted by the Handsome Doormen. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

My college roommate's birthday get together was a high tea at Trump's Hotel in DC. The menu should have included a croissant or avocado toast, however we never received that. A very expensive tea for stale sandwiches and pastries. Service however was good. The ambiance was poor as it was located in the very open main lobby. At $55.00 a person you can do a lot better.

I admit I went for afternoon tea because of the Trump brand and pictures I had seen from the opening of the hotel.

The afternoon tea was fine. The items on the menu were delicious. However I was disappointed to see the plate at my place setting had a chip out of it. The other disappointment came when the tea was served and there were no extra spoons or spreaders for the lemon curd, raspberry jam or clotted cream. Had we been a group it would have been a real mess and mishmash of everyone’s large knives into small dishes and not sure how anything would have tasted well at that point.

The service was quite relaxed and there was a little bit of a language gap with the server. All is all is was a pleasant break in the day but nothing extra special compared to other Afternoon Teas I’ve been to.

Very disappointing. Went here for High Tea. Tiny mouthfuls but that was OK apart from the scones. One little scone each. We asked for more and were told no more. Service was indifferent because 20% is automatically added to the bill. Lots of staff standing around doing nothing. It would be nice to see some fresh flowers.

The entire High Tea experience could seriously not been any better! Our server was so attentive and kind, even giving a glass of Champaign on the house. It is beautiful and elegant inside along with the presentation of the tea and food. I enjoyed every moment and every morsel. It was the highlight of my five day trip in DC, I highly recommend it to everyone.
