We are located at 700 East Main Street, and serve dinner Tuesday- Sat from 5 PM to 10 PM.
Our space was designed through a collaboration between Apex Studios, a well-known Richmond-based design firm, and D.C. designer Sharon Braithewaite. Our 32-foot glowing honey onyx bar is a primary design feature at Belle. Our dining room seats up to 52 people under an elegant light installation of 135 four-inch metallic globe pendants. There is also patio seating for up to 18 guests.
Great service and food
It was the first time for the four of us. We were only one of about 4 tables so it was a quiet dining experience. We had three appetizers, cocktails and beer. We had three different entrees then dessert and coffee. The only complaint with any of the food was that the beignets were undercooked. Tasty but still doughy inside. Everything else was great.
Staff was very welcoming and accommodating. Be forewarned... there's no separation between the tables and bar area, and the bar is VERY LOUD! My wife says the burger was very good! I had the shrimp and grits; they were very good, too. A nice place to eat, but definitely not for date night...too loud at the bar.
Convenient for hotel guests staying at Hampton Inn - share same building. We dined at Belles each night during our three night stay.
Had a nice lunch visit. Conveniently located on GRTC and campus connector routes so I was able to ride in from Monroe Park campus. Service was great. I had the shrimp and grits, which tasted great. My grits were a little cold. They could expand the menu a bit more, but I would recommend this place. Service was very attentive.
Four of us had a delicious dinner at Belle. Don't miss the pimento beignets!! I could make a meal out of them alone. All of us loved them! My family's sandwiches and my salmon entree were great, but even better were all of the sides. Big, wavy, crispy fries, creamy mashed potatoes, delicious parmesan grits (and I'm not normally a grits fan), and outstanding pimento macaroni and cheese. We'll be back...soon!!
Great food and great service. Really enjoyed the experience and will definitely go back.
Lovely restaurant, small but a nice menu. We were there Saturday before memorial day for dinner so was not busy. Attentive wait staff and delicious food.
Although we did not love the location (it seemed to be part of the Hampton Inn Downtown) still the food was great and we will certainly go again!
Very loud group came in and made it hard to talk even across the table. Food was good and service was very good.
Food and service were great! We tried it for restaurant week and will definitely have to return!
I went with a friend while we were there for All VA. It was a great treat! Food was wonderful, as were the cocktails. Get the pimento beignets!! They were amazing!
Fabulous cocktails, good food, and great service
First time there but would return. Small menu but was easily able to find something I liked. The outdoor area looked fun and cannot wait for warmer weather to try dining there.
We loved the food. Why haven't I had pimento cheese spread before? The restaurant was beautifully decorated, the adults loved their craft cocktails and everyone enjoyed their meals. I'd say the kitchen was a tad slow - I suppose good food takes time to make. We had the time to enjoy a slower paced meal so it didn't detract from our evening and the service was professional and not overbearing. I'd happily recommend Belle to a friend. Glad we found it during our visit to Richmond.
I love the food and the space. I've been there several times in the past few weeks. One area they need to up their game is service. Wait staff are nice but need to be more attentive to pacing and such.
The food was fine. Lots of interesting craft cocktails.
Enjoyed our meal - Shrimp and Grits and Jambalaya and some good wine. Service was good and well-paced. Great place for a pre-show meal.
First visit. Waiter was helpful and efficient. Worth revisiting.
A unique and hidden gem. The food is outstanding and fantastic cocktails.
Although the menu is limited all of our dinners were perfectly prepared.
My girlfriend and I enjoyed a delightful Valentine's Day dinner at Belle. Everything was amazing - We were immediately greeted and then seated; the waitress was amazingly attentive without being annoying; the food was delicious and cooked to order; and, the price of the meal was not over the top. We both ordered from the prix fixe menu and that included a complimentary bottle of champagne. This was not my first meal at Belle and it certainly will not be my last!
They have a very convenient location if you are staying in center downtown. Happy hour was great. Dinner waitress was attentive. Food mediocre.
We had a noon reservation for 8 at Belle today. Only 7 of our party attended. We sat down at noon and immediately ordered appetizers for the table. It took around 20 minutes for the apps to come out then another hour for our food order to arrive. When the food did come out the plates came out one or two at a time, with around 5-8 minutes between each order. Service was way too slow, our party had to delay all of our 2pm meetings because we had just received our food. The food was marginal, at best.
Everything was great including out server....it just took us a long time to get our food and our check...
The pimento cheese beignets were especially light and fluffy. The lavender bourbon creme brulee was a nice twist on a classic. Service was attentive and friendly.
We were disappointed. Apps were good (pimento cheese fritters and fried brussels - people-pleasers that are hard to get wrong), entrees were highly mediocre (think “I could’ve cooked this better at home”), atmosphere was cramped. Our server was friendly and the drinks were good, but the experience didn’t live up to our expectations, especially given the Richmond restaurant scene. We’ll be back for cocktails at the bar but definitely not for a seated dinner.
The food was good and waitress was very attentive.
My parents and I ate at Belle for my birthday/restaurant week. We each tried a different appetizer and had no complaints. I had the pimento cheese beignets as an app and then for my main course I had the shrimp po'boy and i really enjoyed both of these dishes.
I don’t know if this was a problem with Belle or with Open Table, but I made reservations for Richmond restaurant week through Open Table for Belle. The day before I confirmed those reservations through Open Table. When our group arrived the next day for dinner, Belle was closed for a private event. A very nice bartender said someone should have called us around noon that day to cancel our reservations. No one did, and even if they had- that seems like very late notice to tell us.
Waited 15 min to get drinks. Ordered appetizers... took forever and then our dinner order took forever.
There was only 2 people there which should have been my first clue. After waiting for 10 minutes for my drink my waiter comes back to me and says he is trying to find the bartender but can't find him. I got up and left.
Food was good. The server had ADHD.
Went there for a very late lunch and they opened 4pm. The bartender told me they only served apps from 4-5 but was able to grab me something of the dinner menu and I was happy about that because I was starving. I found them on open table and was eyeing down the fried chicken blt biscuit and it definitely hit the spot. Wasn't a fan of the pimento mac & cheese but everything else was good. Also tried the Peach Bourbon Squeeze.. it taste just like a bag of peach rings! :)
Place was good, but not sure it lived up to expectations. Cocktails were great. Food was good, but not super awesome. Also, the number of entre options was limited. Fried pickles and fried oysters may have been the highlights. Service was odd, waiter was super slow and seemed vaguely engaged in what he was doing. But he was nice.
Food and ambiance were great - service was a bit slow.
Staying at the Hampton Inn for a night as halfway point from NY to SC. Hampton is in same building across the hall from Belle. It was a quiet night so hard to judge noise level. Tables needed attention (boarding underneath was falling on several of the tables.) I had the mussels which were very good but an extremely large portion. My wife had the filet which was very good however, halfway through there was a hair and that put a damper on the rest of her meal. The waiter was great and the manager adjusted our bill accordingly. We would try again if we were in the area.
It was good, food would have been better if it was actually hot — it was cold.
Took a friend from out of town. She’s a vegetarian and I’m on low carb. The one vegetarian dish she wanted they were out of and I had a hard time finding something. She said the chocolate mousse taste like it was out of the box. The craft cocktail was ok. Prob would have Ben better had we not been on restricted diets. Service was good and ambience cool.
I went there for dinner with three other people around 6:30pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant was empty but people started filling in as we were leaving. Good food at better prices than when the restaurant was Belle and James. Great cocktails. Belle is worth checking out at least once.
