4 of us seated in outdoor tent. Although space heaters were used everyone at table was chilled especially our feet. 2 dinners were not hot. Veal special was very salty and fatty.
Everything was great. Just too salty.
So good !! In fact, I dined there 2x within 3 days!!
Wouldn’t go back. We sat for 20 minutes before any water, bread or server came over. Never were our water glasses refilled during dinner, and to make matters worse / my daughters food had a broken egg shell and she cut her mouth. I actually heard the owner, discussing with his staff, what he should do. Should he take her meal off or not?! What?!?! Not looking for any handouts at all as we frequent many restaurants on LI but I wouldn’t recommend this place, unless you’re a regular or local which we were neither. It seems as though it’s “the regular crowd” type place; however, my money is just as green and will continue to be spent elsewhere.
Amazing food and very nice owner!! It was "Délicieux" ! Merci beaucoup ! ;)
The staff was incredibly nice. The wine was very good and they had a gentleman playing the piano and singing which was nice. Sometimes he would play the trumpet (I believe) and it got a little too loud. We had the eggplant appetizer and it was delicious. The bread was warm and good. The dinner was good but for the price I expected better. I had a ribeye special which cost $65 (too expensive) they cut it for me, which was nice. My husband had a gnocchi special with sausage, I thought at best it was ok and that was around $30. Dessert was very good. Cannoli for me and lava cake for my husband. For over a $200 bill...I would expected the meals to be better.
Always a pleasant atmosphere. Great place to celebrate an occasion! Food always consistent. Feel very welcomed when you walk in. Great place to gather and talk not loud inside. The view of the pond is so pretty at night. I would definitely recommend!
A local gem. The setting is incredibly charming and the food and service are on par with the best places in NYC caliber.
This has been one of the best dining finds on Long Island we have had in years. I’m even luckier that it’s only two blocks from my house.
It is a very lovely place and the food is delicious, I would definitely go back!
Great ambiance and food. Live music was wonderful but a bit loud and made it hard to have a conversation at times.
Great experience, attentive family, phenomenal food!
Amazing homemade gnocchi. We loved it.
Came here for Valentine’s Day and was our first and will be our only visit. When we were sat down in what appeared to be a makeshift extension in a tent. It was cold and unwelcoming. Colors and ambiance was old and poorly chosen with a flatscreen tv playing a video of a fireplace. When we got the menus we were unpleasantly surprised with a prix fixe menu that was $60 per person. I looked on their website and they had a very similar prix fixe menu for Monday and Tuesday for half the price at $30/person. Entrees were poorly presented and prepared. Plates were messy as if it were something slapped together for family dinner at home. When you go out to dinner, you expect the food to be better than what you can do especially when you’re not a good cook. That wasn’t the case here. Ordered short ribs which was by far the worst dish of short ribs I’ve eaten. Poorly put together and presented. Gravy looked old and watered down, short ribs looked and tasted frozen, and spinach was definitely from a can. Wife got the half chicken and the sauce tasted like canned cream of chicken soup. Desert came out and was definitely from Costco. We spent over $150 for two people to eat poor store bought food. This place was the biggest ripoff and worst food I’ve ever had from a restaurant. DO NOT EAT HERE!
Food was excellent! Service was outstanding. Will be coming back. Beet salad and grilled octopus were amazing. Gnocchi entree was so creamy.
The restaurant is beautiful. The food was beyond our expectations and the staff was very attentive and I plan on coming back again!
From the second we walked in, we were greeted and made to feel welcome. We were early so we had a drink at the bar. The bartender was attentive and looked happy to be there. The wait staff was excellent and most importantly the food was excellent.
Went here for the first time with a party of 4 people. Our waiter Albert was wonderful. All of the food was absolutely delicious... even the drinks were amazing. We will definitely be back!
French and Italian lovely
Prefect from start to finish
We arrived a little late for our reservation, but was seated promptly. Service was good, waitstaff very professional. We found the menu limited. Soup appetizer was ordered along with the beet salad. The soup had no broth but a poached egg on top. Very creative but not very delicious. The beet salad was unusual too, but was good, although small. The main courses: Salmon was good but the garnish on the plate were hardly vegetables (cut up extremely small), the lasagna was a mish mash of noodles cheese and sauce. Very cheesy, creamy and heavy. The spinach ravioli was tasteless and also too rich. My filet was ordered medium rare and for all intense and purposes it was medium rare. But not appealing, covered with bacon that was not crisp but rubbery (hard to cut through it) and unnecessary for a special cut of meat like filet. The color of the meat was grey (no charring on the outside) and mealy when chewing. The inside was raw and had many veins running, Not what I thought it would taste like. Disappointing for sure.
Very enjoyable on New Year’s Eve. Place was packed but only waited about 10 minutes with our open table reservation. Will definitely go back again.
New Year’s Dinner so it was expected to be crowded and noisy but the food was delicious and the service was wonderful.
New Years Eve! An 8pm reservation for 4. I wouldn’t recommend going there on a holiday. Even with a reservation we waited 45 minutes for a table for 4. It’s a small place so if you overbook, it’s going to be super uncomfortable. We ordered 3 cokes and a seltzer. One of the cokes came as a Jack & coke instead & was served to my recovering alcoholic husband. I had to steal that away pretty quickly. Our waiter(s) didn’t come back for half an hour at least so I drank his alcoholic beverage. We DID get charged for that by the way. For an 8pm reservation it was about 10pm when we finally ordered. They had a limited menu and still had already run out of the lamb so my dad ordered the chicken. When our dishes finally arrived, 3 out of 4 of us got home style type potatoes on their plates when 2 of them ordered mashed. The waiter said Oh, let me check the menu. He comes back and says you’re right and brings cold mashed potatoes to just one of them. But my mom didn’t want to say anything so she ate the potatoes she was given. By 11, ordering dessert, my dad wanted cheesecake but they ran out. So we ordered tartufo and 2 tiramisus to go. When we got home, in the bag was 2 weird looking muffins. Why? I don’t know. Was muffin even on the menu? No it was t so why were we sent home with 2 muffins instead of tiramisu which we only ordered because it was included I. The price fix menu. It was a disaster $248 later (not including tip). We will not go back. On a good note, the manager brought us a complimentary bottle of wine in the beginning of dinner because he recognized one of us at the table. He was very nice. But we didn’t anticipate the rest of the night going the way it did. At least we got home by 11:30 to see the ball drop. Happy New Year
we were the only other table in this small and adorable restaurant, but man was that other table loud.
The lake view is very pretty even in the rain. The food was great, there was only one waitress and she was waitress, bartender, food server, and hostess. She did a great job, but my response would be close the restaurant at lunch if you dont have enough staff.
Food was very good, service was impeccable. Parking on Montauk Hwy is hairy...be careful. There is no parking lot, though there is valet service🤣🤣🤣
What a lovely experience! From start to finish, the food was exceptional and the service was excellent as well. The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable and made several good recommendations. We will definitely be back.
Mostly very good. Had no Cointreau or Triple sec. that should never happen. Otherwise very good.
This was my first time here. I brought a date, so I just hoped for the best. The reviews are pretty accurate, though. It’s a really nice venue with a gorgeous waterfront (even in the dead of fall/winter). The food was amazing. The service was amazing. The date went very well, obviously. I highly recommend. The ambience is classy and low key.
Food quality has gone down. Wine selection horrible. House Chardonnay is cupcake a 8.00 bottle of wine. At the table the first bottle we ordered they were out of. The second bottle also out of. Finally the third bottle they had. I will say they cut the price on this bottle to match the price of the wine we wanted. The food was at best average. I ordered escargot and it was tasteless. Four people and four different entrees, and none of us were happy with our food. I’ve been to this place at least 4-5 time before but this was by far the most disappointing. I will have to think twice before returning
First time back since new renovation and ownership.
Great place for an excellent dinner and good service.
Going back soon
Fantastic food in a wonderful setting
Food was good but not outstanding. Desert portions were small.
Unfortunately, Bella Vie is more concerned with making money than pleasing their customers. They utilize every square inch of floor space to fit as many dining tables as humanly possible. We were seated next to a serving cart and only a few feet from the bar. Constant noise and foot traffic past our table throughout our dinner is not my idea of an enjoyable meal. Although the food is decent they cannot be considered a fine dining establishment when they treat paying cutomers like this! We won't be back anytime soon!
Food is excellent and the owner is always very welcoming .
I had a smoked cod appetizer and the fresh linguini with seafood. My wife had the baked clams and the lasagna. The smoked cod was thinly sliced raw cod that if you like lox you will like that appetizer. I really liked it. The homemade linguini with seafood was very good, although it was a little saltier than I would make it but it was still good. I did ask for the Fra Diavolo sauce with it and theirs was VERY spicy. It was much more than just red sauce with a lot of crushed pepper. The shrimp, clams, calamari and mussels in the dish were not overcooked and they shelled everything for you. It was obvious that even though there were no shells, that the clams and mussels were not from cans. My wife did not care for the baked clams. She said there was too much breadcrumb and not enough clam. She did like the lasagna however. Lasagna is something restaurants usually do not do well so that is an accomplishment. For dessert I had the tartuffo which was fine. My wife had the chocolate crembule which she liked. Now for the rest of the place. I made a reservation through Open Table, but they didn't even ask me for it. We were seated in what looked like an outdoor area turned into an indoor area with a tent and heavy drapes and carpeting on the floor. There were portable baseboard looking heaters. All this sounds terrible, but it really wasn't bad at all. Others were seated in the main room. I didn't mind being where they put us. It was actually quieter. The waiter was friendly and attentive. We did have to remind him that my wife had asked for a glass of wine after we had finished the bottle of water they had originally served us. Re parking, I didn't see a parking lot but we found street parking fairly easily. Maybe there is a lot but I didn't see it. A man named Mike, who was very friendly, came to our table as we were leaving offering us a free drink. We did not stay but that was nice. Perhaps he was the maitre'd or one of the owners. I don't know. Anyway, we will go back
Food was delicious- we waited a while to get the food but otherwise we had a great time
Always wonderful food and service. We're moving out of state and I will miss this gem.
Staff was amazingly attentive and so very nice! Food was delicious. Menu had so many different choices. Everything was fantastic! Location is beautiful. Would definitely go back again!
Quiet. Romantic. Excellent food and service. Beautiful lakeside view
