We were going to see Michael McDonald at the Majestic and wanted to have a nice meal before, and we were not disappointed! Bella’s had been recommended to us and now we are happy to recommend them as well! Chef did an excellent job and service was superb!
Food was great.
Waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions. Wife got the Tenderloin and I got the Diver Scallops, both were very tasty. Side order of oyster mushrooms was average. Website menu matched the dinner menu exactly, which was helpful for us to know what was offered.
What a great place. Very nice bar. Food is wonderful. They moved all of great service and food to this new location. Now better than ever.
Excellent dining. Highly recommend this for Dinner.
Another great experience at this locally owned restaurant. Everything was excellent. Don't wait until you are going to a show at the Majestic to check this place out.
Our dining experience at Bella on Houston was wonderful! The food was delicious! I highly recommend the vegetarian eggplant entree. The service was excellent! Everyone was so welcoming & friendly. We will definitely go back the next time we are in San Antonio!
One of the best dinner experiences we have had as a couple. My wife enjoyed her meal and I enjoyed the service and meal because the date night was special. Lovely birthday celebration.
This was an AMAZING meal experience, I cannot emphasize enough how awesome the service, food and ambience was for our meal at Bella on Houston! I brought my family here as a vacation treat and it was the perfect place for an amazing family meal, but I saw how it could also be great for a girls night or even a romantic evening. Our waitress provided the most out of this world service, replacing the table cloth and helping clean off a spill, providing excellent wine and food advice and even offering some tasting of wines when we were a little indecisive. As a resident New Yorker, sometimes I can have very unrealistically high standards for food, but Bella did not disappoint. I highly recommend the Redfish, the Bella pasta and the white chocolate bread pudding for dessert! This was an awesome meal, my parents were so happy to have such a nice meal, and I cannot that the Bella team enough for the amazing night!
The food (Paella), wine and service was absolutely fantastic!
Excellent food and service, prefix menu of theatre nights is a great value.
Wonderful service & delicious food w/ great presentation.
We dined at Bella's before taking in a show at the Majestic. Everything we had was delicious, the clam's as an appetizer, my wife and I both had the Greek salad (very unique, no greens, but loaded with tomatoes, cheese and olives in an olive oil based dressing, very memorable!), my wife had the diver scallops and I had the redfish in a livornese sauce (black olive oil based - outstanding! The service was spot on and timed nicely with our show. We remain fans of Bella!
My wife and I and pretty much everyone else had early(5;30) reservations before the 7;30 show next door at the Majestic Theater. Bella filled up fast. Service was responsive, but the atmosphere was not relaxing. The bruschetta was too toasty, but the bread served with the meal was very good. We enjoyed our entrees, Bella pasta and red fish and shared a dessert. I want to return when we (and the Bella staff) have more time. Not Bella's fault; they played the hand they were dealt.
Great food as always. The desserts were especially delicious. Perfect venue for before theatre dinner and we will be returning!
Excellent food and service!
We have never had a bad meal or experience at Bella.
Lovely experience from greeting to departure, attentive service, the food was marvelous, impressed by caprese salad, paella, each of four diners very much enjoyed the pre-show experience.
Just a lovely meal - the food was SO delicious (pls order the white chocolate bread pudding) but the best was the service.
We changed the reservation three times and they were so accommodating - granted it was a Monday - but they were so gracious.
But the attention to detail w service and how easygoing and friendly they were - was fantastic. Patrick was our server and we felt so at home. If you want a break from all the great Mexican food in San Antonio (it’s awesome but 4 days was enough) this is a fantastic fresh meal with good service.
We are fortunate enough to fine dine a lot, all over, and this place is by far one of the best, if not our favorite. Service was great and the food is amazing. You have to try the mussels!
Thought it was nice and the young lady serving us was great. Thought the pour for the wine was skimpy for the price. Overall the food is good but overpriced.
Dinner before theatre.
As a previous customer at their Riverwalk location, I was unsure that the larger locale would offer the same ambience. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was as I remembered it, rich and superb, and the waitstaff as attentive as before. Houston street makes for a different kind of vibe, more bohemian and artsy, but the overhead speakers playing light jazz reminded me of the quartets I used to hear play at the Riverwalk location. I will definitely be going back.
This is a wonderful restaurant, great ambiance, with relaxing music in the background. I dined on a Tuesday and ordered the Prix Fixe menu offered that day for $30, which included an appetizer, main dish, and dessert. The appetizer (vichyssoise) was delicious and just the right portion. The warm bread tasted fresh and had a nice smashed garlic and olive oil accompaniment. The entree (redfish from the Gulf of Mexico) was prepared and presented beautifully and had a balanced, light flavor. It was on top of a tomato puree which also had a light flavor. The dessert (salted caramel ice cream) was outstanding--sweet and again just the right portion. Again, its presentation was great--with a fresh mint leaf and a piece of toffee on top. My server was helpful and friendly, and suggested a great wine to pair with my meal. The host greeted me when I arrived and when I left, as well. I felt welcomed and valued as a customer, another plus. Despite the increase in the bill with the wine and of course tip, I was happy with the value I received for the price. I would definitely eat here again if I were ever to return to San Antonio.
Back a number of years ago I worked at Houston St. Bistro and as many know, the owner (beloved friend) Razmik died a few years ago. The restaurant went downhill immediately and ultimately closed. Going in this last weekend was a bit emotional for me but was more than pleased.. fantastic food- great decor but more than anything was impressed with the genuine big hello from the moment we hit the door by none other than the owner himself. He cared about our experience from entry to exit, much like a trait Razmik carried. That can’t be taught. You either care or you don’t and Mr. Snyder does. Will be a regular for sure on show nights- appetizers/entree’s/desserts all up and timed perfectly to make our 8:00 show with time to spare. Thanks for making this space great again.
Fairly new to the city, we ate at Bella on the River once. Loved it. Went to Bella on Houston before a show at the Majestic. This does not seem like the same place. I read reviews that the menu and chef had not changed. But we found this to not be the case. Our first experience at Bella (on the river) left us feeling like it was a very authentic mostly Italian like meal, complete with ambience and authentic servers. This time we left feeling it was just OK and, while convenient to the theater, won’t go out of our way to return.
The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived and they seated us just about on top of another table. No privacy. Our server had not mastered the fine art of taking care of diners without being intrusive and interrupting conversation.
The whole experience was just average.
Great food, great staff and a perfect location! We came to see a show at the Majestic and it was the perfect place to go before going to the theater.
We arrived about 15 minutes prior to our reservation time and we were still seated promptly. The waiter was very helpful & knowledgeable about the menu. We were not rushed at all during our dining experience. The Antipasto was amazing. Seafood Paella was outstanding, perfect portion size. The White Chocolate Bread Pudding was stupendous. We will definitely be going back again.
The tables towards the windows are too close together. That said it is a perfect place to have dinner before going to the Empire or the Majestic.
Food and service were perfect. Only disappointed was that it was not entirely clear that this is not the riverfront location that I was hoping to revisit. I would still go back again though. Our entrees and desserts were amazing.
Salted caramel ice cream was outstanding and the filet was perfectly prepared
The only thing we were disappointed was no liquor otherwise great night
My husband had the beef tenderloin and I had the lamb chops. Hannah, our server, was amazing. She was just the right amount of attentive and friendly without being over-bearing or intrusive. She selected the perfect Chianti to complement my lamb. Get the cannoli for dessert! Light but delightfully chocolatey! One of our best dining experiences ever!
Absolutely amazing meal. The atmousphere was beautiful and yet relaxed. The food was out if this world. Perfectly balanced and full of flavor. Did I mention every course was perfectly prepare and cooked. This IS A MUST EATS!!
We went here for our honeymoon trip. This was our final night in San Antonio and we left information for each restaurant letting them know of our honeymoon. Although Bella did personally congratulate us and everyone was extremely polite we did not receive any extra "perks" like some other establishments did. However, the food here was the best dishes we had the entire trip. We arrived at 8:20 pm for our 8:30 reservations and were seated immediately. I had the paella and my wife had the pasta Bella. INCREDIBLE FLAVOR! Each dish took a little while to come out but we enjoyed our conversation (although a bit loud inside). Highly recommend this place for their amazing chefs and dynamite dishes!
We were greeted and seated promptly. Acknowledgement of our time situation with the theatre was given and our food arrived promptly and tasted great! Would go again!
friendly helpful service and delicious food! They were accommodating to my food sensitivity without seeming annoyed. the steak was AMAZING!!!
If you're a larger person, you may not enjoy the seating....tiny restaurant. Floor is also slippery when wearing heels or wedges. Some dishes needed additional seasoning and its very loud inside. Otherwise was a fine experience.
Great restaurant right by the Majestic. Very nice atmosphere and service was really great. Nice people!
I had a great time at Bella on Houston. I must admit that my filet of steak was not has fantastic as I would have hoped but my dates lamb was spectacular. I was not a fan of the table so close to the bar but it was an overall great experience.
