Bella Monica – A Beloved Italian Trattoria in Raleigh

Since 2000, Bella Monica has been a neighborhood gem, serving authentic Neapolitan cuisine with warm hospitality. Owned by Chef Corbett and Julie Monica, our locally owned trattoria is an extension of Nana’s table, where guests become family.

Our menu features thin-crust flatbreads, housemade pastas, fresh NC seafood, and locally sourced meats, crafted with San Marzano tomatoes and the freshest ingredients. Pair your meal with a selection from our all-Italian, Wine Spectator 2007-2025 award-winning wine list, and don’t leave without trying the best cannoli in Raleigh!

    Let us bring our homemade Italian food to you at your home, office or special event venue. Catering from 10-100 people. Available for staffed, non-staffed, pick up or delivery events. Sundays at our Nana’s house were special. They began when we entered Nana’s house and the smell of the ‘gravy’ simmering on the stove would greet us at the door. Nana would fly out of the kitchen to pinch our cheeks, give us hugs, and lead us to the table full of food saying “mangia, mangia”. Sundays with Nana were days where everything seemed to stop for family and friends; everything except for pasta. Aunts, uncles and cousins would trickle into Nana’s home throughout the day to take their places at the table. The day never seemed to end. We would sit for hours sharing food and laughter with one another. Though the day would begin and end with food, the time spent with our family really made those days special. It is our hope and passion to recreate those long, special Sundays at Nana’s table.

    Eggplant Rollatini was the best Italian meal my wife says she has ever eaten! She raved about this from the first bite to the last and we've eaten Italian food all over the country and in Rome, Milan, Venice, Sienna and Florence. I was not that hungry and had a small pepperoni pizza which was excellent. We would visit Bella Monica whenever we are near Raleigh again.

    Food was good but the wait staff are miserable, rude, unhappy people. It’s took nearly 25 minutes before they took our order. We reserved a table for 5, an extra person arrived and they had a meltdown about getting an extra chair! I’ve tried 3 times to eat there and the staff has been this way every time. Will not be going back.

    Excellent watermelon and baby arugula salad followed by lobster ravioli with more lobster than more expensive places. Sat outside. The Monica family has delivered consistently good food for years with a neighborhood vibe.

    I had the salmon and my husband the chicken Parmesan—our favorites. There at 2:00 so very quiet. Leslie did a fine job.

    Absolutely LOVED our whole experience! My husband and I visited from Charlotte (birthday trip) and they went above and beyond to make his birthday special. We also both have gluten allergies and were thrilled to have an entire gluten free menu to choose from (AND gluten free garlic bread...delish!!). We both got the chicken parm, ate until we were stuffed, then had enough for lunch the next day :) SO good, we'll be back and would highly recommend!
