Really nice for a special occasion or dinner. Elevated menu and really top notch drinks. Went there to try something new and to celebrate father's day. Incredible flavors, great service, delicious menu choices and a delightful evening. Everything was just right.

The room is beautiful, the staff patient and professional, the menu is ambitious and can be uneven. The menu is worth checking out in advance. As noted, portions are on the small side as is becoming the norm - no need for doggie bags here - so hungry diners should open with appetizers. The wine list isn't long, but terrific with fair prices. The small bar is striking visually, but while it not have your favorite spirits, its alternatives seem carefully chosen. Personally I think that writing dining reviews shouldn't be a blood sport. Belden House is new and still working out some kinks, but based on the lovely employees with whom we spoke last night, it will continue to adapt and be a destination experience. We'll be back.

I don’t usually bother to write a review but this meal was about the worst I have ever had. To begin with the menu is the most pretentious I’ve seen in any restaurant anywhere. My husband ordered the soup to start. It was basically a bowl of tepid liquid with almost raw vegetables that looked suspiciously like the awful frozen mixed vegetables my mother used to serve. For his main course he ordered short ribs. There were two “slabs” of meat resting on a bed of raw spinach. I asked for a taste and couldn’t chew it, it was so tough. We ordered the focaccia which was the only bread available. I know it’s not unusual these days to charge for bread but I find it offensive especially in a supposed fine dining, expensive restaurant . I ordered the “special” of the day. Crab cake with a lemon sauce. Crab cakes are one of my favorite things. I would challenge anyone to detect any actual crab meat in this cake, not to mention that the lemon was so overpowering it was the only flavor that came through. On a positive note the room is lovely and the service was perfect. Our server was polite, knowledgeable and attentive. I wish the food was edible. I really haven’t mentioned the price because we dine in expensive restaurants frequently and never complain about the cost because we know what we are going to be paying. But last night’s food was so awful I really feel like We were ripped off.

Food was delicious and very well prepared, and the staff was welcoming and attentive. Regrettably, the tables were way too small and portion sizes were even smaller. The restaurant is new to the town, and they must work out some of these issues quickly. For now, we will dine elsewhere.

A delicious meal in a wonderful setting. The manager showed us their rooms which were lovely. I will be back to stay and enjoy the exceptional food. Every member of staff we encountered were exceptional.

Charming, fantastic place! One of the best places in Litchfield. Been there for breakfast twice and we are VERY happy they opened a place like this in town. Not a over elaborate menu (which I prefer) but everything on it so far has been excellent. Would love to go back.

First time in after their opening. They have a very young wait staff. Our server got lost for 15 minutes after he took our drink order and the bar was near us. I asked for a Manhattan with Maker's Bourbon. The server said they didn't offer it because they only selected "family brands" whatever that means. They had very limited appetizers and no traditional salad. We went with the sourdough focaccia, which was very good. You don't usually see bread as a menu starter. I had a sirloin, which was very good. My partner had a lobster dish which had a nouvelle look. It was a relatively small portion. There were only two desserts, a very limited offering. Nothing in chocolate. We passed. The main dining room is fairly compact. When we entered, the acoustics made it hard to hear. Three-quarters of the cars in the lot were from New York State. Maybe that's the market they are appealing to.

Our server was warm and welcoming. She was very knowledgeable about the menu! We had a lovely lunch. The burgers were a standout!
