It was a good meal and good service in general, patio was warm enough for kids and seniors, it was a bit tight but there isn’t much can do from restaurants during pandemic. The only thing I would like to mention that coffee was sour taste that isn’t my cup of tea.
Lovely place with lots of variety. Neighborhood feel and a nice patio to get us through the new restrictions.
The Sever was so lovely, he set up a Happy Birthday sign for my table and was very accommodating. The food was tasty and of great value. And everyone loves free garlic bread.
Food was really good. Service was a bit slow as it seemed that they didn’t have enough people serving on the floor, however our party wasn’t in a rush so we didn’t mind the wait but the food was really nice and fresh.
I can’t believe how bad the food was, with how good the reviews were! I got catfished for sure.
The table bread is croutons served with butter in a plastic ramekin, honestly better off to just leave it off and not give it to people at all.
The chicken parm was battered and deep fried like fish and chips, with a side of ketchup on noodles, and two orders of the same item were prepared completely differently. Margherita pizza was microwaved, store bought crust with ketchup sauce and tons of garlic.
Food took over an hour and a half to get to us and when it came it was scalding hot - yet cheese unmelted - how?!
I normally would never leave a bad review, but people should know what they’re in for. If “Beehive” has any good reviews - they bought em or they were leftover from when it was Oakwood.
During these uncertain covid times, the serving and kitchen staff was minimal. We waited longer than usual for our meals, but we were with good company so it didn't really matter. We were very happy to be in a nice restaurant with a bubble friend. And the food was worth the wait.
The service was extremely slow, we were there for almost 3 hours before we got our main course because there was only 1 server who had to take care of the whole restaurant and bartend by himself. He was very pleasant though and was trying his best.
We had the 3 course Valentine’s meal and the first couple courses were a bit of a let down, the bruschetta was just tomatoes on a piece of bread which would have been better with some sort of balsamic. The prosciutto and melon dish had an olive oil drizzled over it which tasted stale and and was a weird combination. The main course though was very good, I had the risotto and prawns and it was delicious. Overall, the place has a nice atmosphere and the main course was good but the price for the Valentine’s meal wasn’t worth it because the other courses we not good but we might try to give it another shot on a day that’s not as busy.
We were invited back after our first experience not being as good as we had hoped, and were really taken care of. Our experience left us feeling a lot better and I would recommend this restaurant for its ambience and menu selection. Thank you for taking care of us Homes, we appreciate all that you did. And the restaurant felt very covid-friendly.
I booked outdoor dining but was told the heaters were broken when I arrived, so we ended up sitting inside. The restaurant is cozy and tables were well spaced, but our server was only wearing a half face shield with no mask. I also noticed he let a diner in who was not wearing a mask. The diner asked for a mask but the sever walked him all through the restaurant before providing one to him. There were no temperature checks and nobody was asked to sanitize their hands either.
The cocktails were good while the entrees (steak and chicken parm) were just okay. The portions were large but tasted under seasoned. The garlic bread was the highlight of the meal and delicious. We ordered creme brûlée for dessert and it was very disappointing. The sugar top was thin but somehow soft and wouldn’t crack while the creme was liquified, so it resembled just a bowl of cream.
I probably wouldn’t go back to this restaurant because I didn’t feel safe with their lack of COVID protocols. In retrospect, I shouldn’t have dined there at all once I noticed the lack of protocols.
Awesome happy hour, friendly welcoming place. Will definitely be going again :)

Beautiful and cosy place for a dinner with family or friends. There are the private areas if you prefer having intimacy of conversation.

Beehive is a great little restaurant in the heart of Kits. Owners Ritchie and Lydia go over the top with great specials and fabulous pricing. Service has always been outstanding too! I went many times before pandemic and now back with door open and proper social distancing. My results from the restaurant have been outstanding (especially I went 2 times last week)!

I brought our twins and their good friend here for dinner in August. We were celebrating the beginning of their third year at UBC. It was our first time to the Bee Hive, and we lucked out and came on a Wednesday night. Tuesday and Wednesday nights are pasta nights. All four of us love pasta, and we were blown away by the fresh ingredients and excellent preparation. The fruit di mare was excellent!! Our server was efficient, gracious and fun, a rare combination during these times of pandemic complication. I will definitely return anytime I visit Vancouver.
I loved my dining experience at Beehive!! Everyone was so so friendly and the food was SO YUMMY!! All my friends loved their food as well. Such a good place for hanging out with friends in the summer!
I hate writing highly negative reviews of places and I try to avoid a polarized one star review but we uttered the words "terrible" when we left so that's the rating that I'm choosing.
We were greeted by a friendly server and we got a table on their nice little patio. Things went downhill quickly:
-Brussel Sprouts are supposed to come with cheese and bacon. Zero bacon present. Server confused when we asked about it. Got served dry bacon bits in a carafe. Cheese just resembled packaged shredded parmesan. Unmelted, even though sprouts were fried. Lacking salt or flavour. Disappointing.
-Complimentary garlic bread is just okay. Resembles a frozen loaf you bake at home. Aioli we were given had been out for hours and was dried over on top. Had to ask for new one.
-Mains came out incorrectly. Friend ordered salmon pizza. Got salmon. Kept my dish since they said it would be quick. She was given a free beer.
-Carbonara was the worst I've ever had. Virtually flavourless. Overcooked, packaged pasta. Next to no cracked pepper (server added pepper at the table? For carbonara?). No fresh parm - just shaved parm in a plastic dish. $23 and nothing is good or fresh made? No thanks.
-Pizza didn't arrive for another 15 mins and I was done already. Comparable to a "slightly better Delissio."
-Tried ordering another cocktail. Old Fashioned. Easy. Except it arrived with soda water in it, it was completely unstirred so it had a whole sugar cube, and a straw? When I questioned the soda, the server seemed surprised. When I questioned the cube, he told me it was supposed to be like that. I discovered inside that he was also the bartender so I feel like he's never actually been trained how to make cocktails.
Our server was nice. He tried to fix errors. Appreciated. But, at the end of the day, the errors were numerous and the food/drink were simply really bad. Oakwood Bistro would be rolling in its restaurant grave if it knew this is the place that replaced it.
Save a trip. Don't go.
Went after restaurant re-opened for dine in, very impressed with the price and portion of the food I ordered. Everything was delicious except the lamb shoulder I ordered was quite dry and chewy. Overall, it was still a very good meal.
Wonderful to sit on patio and eat good brunch with careful service. Thank you! We will be back for the dinner specials. Great value!

We came to Beehive for Dine Out Vancouver as we were intrigued by the menu offering. Reservations through Open Table were easy to secure at prime 6:30pm time slot. Entering the restaurant, we were greeted by 2 lovely hostesses/servers who seated us right away. This is a lovely local bar/hot spot on West 4th! A cozy environment to watch a game. The 3 of us opted for the Dine Out Menu even though the server did inform us of their other pizza specials for the evening. I do wish the menu went into more detail including what each dish came with and the sauces and ingredients used. We all had the Crab Cake to start...it was gigantic and very tasty, set atop a lovely fresh salad. The entree of Bison Sirloin was a very large portion and grilled wonderfully. It was tender and served with mashed potatoes and lots of grilled veggies. My husband, who does not usually like risotto, had ordered the Ocean Perch and he finished the whole dish including the risotto! It was very well prepared and the flavours were great. Dessert of creme brûlée was very good as well. We were quite impressed with the food, and quite satisfied and stuffed at the end of our meal. Having had no expectations, we are definitely coming back to try the gigantic chicken burger we spied at the next table. This is a family friendly restaurant with many menu items to suit different palates. They had a wide variety of drinks and the non alcoholic Cucumba was so refreshing!
We came here for dine out. They have the $35 menu and the portion was quite big. We both came out very full. Their mushroom soup was really good. Their desserts wasn’t a hit for me. Overall I thought the dinner was decent while my boyfriend said it was good.
22% mandatory service charge for parties of 6 and higher. Absurd service charge. I have never seen 22% ever.

Nice "local bistro" vibe. Bit of everything on the menu, but well executed individually. The bison (Dine Out menu) is a nice change from std beef strip loin.
Interesting cocktails (coconut margarita was a hit). We were told the less interesting wine list is being revamped. Great service, nice atmosphere. Worth a return visit.
Nice venue with comfortable and modern decor.
Food was pretty good, how ever the service was odd. We had not finished our Mains and desert was brought to the table. The table next to us were in the same boat, only they were half way through their Entrees when their mains were brought to the table and left while they hurried to finish their Entrees.
I loved my meal. I chose the crab cake and than the bison. My friend had the lamb which was even better than the bison. Couldn’t finish my dessert. The helpings were generous!!!

The google reviews were definitely made up by friends or machines to show 5 star. It was definitely deceiving and not true to what’s on their website and their reviews. The food was terrible than I would go to a random diner. Not recommending this place at all.
Initially when my friend and I arrived at the restaurant we went over the regular menu. It seemed decent, a variety of dishes for anyone with or without dietary restrictions. My friend and I mainly chose Beehive to try out their Eat Out Vancouver menu. I had the Boccicini and Tomato salad, Herbs(sp) Crested Ocean Perch and Crème brûlée. The salad wasn't anything to rave about, I've had better, but what really did not impress me was my main dish - the fish was noted as "crested" on the menu, which I think was supposed to be crusted, nonetheless I wanted to try it cause I wanted something light. When it was finally served I was horrified to see that the perch was not just crusted with herb, but instead encrusted with a breading on top of a mound of white rice, dressed with a piece of broccoli, a shoot of asparagus, a couple slices of zucchini and a piece of carrot. Overall, my meal wasn't a wow factor and I was disappointed.
Worst dine out experience. Food was mediocre. The waitress completely gave a poor description of what the dessert is and the wait time for the entree was ridiculous and the food came out room temperature. Last but not least, the waitress blamed the incorrect bill on the computer pre-set gratuity which was suppose to be 18% on the menu for table of 6 but it turned out to be 25%. Diners beware.
Our experience was overall ok but generally disappointing. It is such a beautiful space with nice ambiance- it is a shame to have tv screens on overhead. All the food was good but not to the level of quality I’d expect. Eg I expect my crab cake was not made in house but a frozen crab cake from elsewhere. I’d like to see them do well but unlikely without a more narrow and quality focused menu
