Beauty & Essex- New York
The atmosphere of the space is both grand and intimate, moody and effervescent. Various rooms for lounging and dining unfold on two floors, like a large turn-of-the-century townhouse. Each room has its own unique elements that celebrate timeless jewelry designs and upscale jewelry stores.
The cuisine is multi-ethnic in inspiration, casually elegant, and designed for sharing at the table among friends and family. Where the Stanton Social"s menu is Chef Chris Santos' take on cocktail party classics and street foods from across the globe, Beauty & Essex is rooted in a bold bistro direction focusing on the reinvention of modern family style dining that is both whimsical and sophisticated.
Brunch: Saturday & Sunday 11:30am-3:00pm
by Bus: M9 or 14A to Essex Street
The experience was great overall.
Amazing service. Waitress was way better than the one I previously had. No wait time to be seated this time either. Overall Awesome place. The management team are all geniuses. Wish I could work with them ha
Food and service were pretty good. However we were kept waiting for 30+ min for our table (10.15 booking).
I love this restaurant. It’s definitely one of my favorites. The food was so good as usual but our waiter could have been better. His customer service was lacking and he definitely could have been more attentive. However the hostess was great and sat us at the perfect table!
Amazing service and ambiance
It was our anniversary and we were treated to champagne and dessert- so lovely!
Recommended by a few colleagues so we had to try while we were in New York. Food was excellent!
Food was delicious. Pleasant atmosphere. Service was very good and fast.
Great service, the 24 ounce rib eye was very well cooked. Good ambiance and good value! The downside is that we were seated in one of those middle round tables on the ground floor and every time someone walked past they’d bump into my chair because the walk way was too narrow. Other than that we loved it!
Great venue and a vibrant atmosphere. Cocktails were top notch. Food was good if a little overpriced. Then again this is NYC. Good evening all around and worth the money.
We had a fabulous evening at Beauty & Essex. Wonderful cocktails, the food was fantastic and the restaurant itself was beautiful. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
After entering the restaurant and being seated then starting with a glass of champagne it went downhill. Suddenly the AC started blowing hard and all women sitting near us all had to put on their jackets. Note to restaurant: if we wanted to stand in central park in the wind at night we would have choosen to do so. We repeatedly asked for the AC to be turned down with no response other than it will take a few minutes before you will notice it. Did not notice it in the 65 min we stayed. After that the food was OK not bad but neither exceptional. (been here 2 years ago then it was exeptional). Next f*** u* after clearing the first 3 courses they took all cutlery but a fork, not a problem in itself it did however become a problem when the next plates arrived. Asked are server if she could get us some knives and waited 2 min with hot food on the table. Repeated myself and asked another server the same request. After 5 min in waiting i walked up to the server station with the cutlery and got them myself.
Summary: Last visit to Beauty & Essex and first time in my life were i did not tip at all.
Muy bonito y agradable con buen ambiente y gente bien
*** I recommend you put a NOTE with your RESERVATION asking to SIT DOWNSTAIRS. It is a very fun, bling and exciting place, even for a Newyorker to visit. Only 4 stars because the food came to our table a bit slow but the waitress comped us 2 wines, so that was not a big problem. The Tuna was a huge portion and excellent!!!!
Loved it! Beautiful space and everything we ordered was delish and bursting with flavor! Looking forward to many happy returns!
Great consistent food. Bring a jacket. It was freezing in the restaurant.
Great food, and relatively quick turn around once order is in. However, service wasn’t the most responsive but I think they were understaffed
One of my favorite brunch places. Everything was tasty. Good vibe.
1 pm reservation but our table was not ready till 1:45
The waiter was great however the hostess was horrible. Even though we had a reservations , we still had to wait 20+ minutes even though there was tables empty.
So much fun and amazing atmosphere! You gotta go
It was fun
I love going to beauty & essex. Grest service and fun atmosphere. Kind of loud where you can’t conversate over the music but that’s fine!
I have to be really balanced in my review and I’m so disappointed that the evening wasn’t as good as I hoped. That said, the Assistant General Manager was fantastic when we flagged the issues.
Our evening started so well... welcomed by a lovely hostess, taken to a beautiful table upstairs and given 2 complimentary glasses of champagne whilst we checked out the menus.
- our $220 bottle of champagne arrived at room temperature and when we flagged this nothing was done until we decided to leave the restaurant 15 mins later
- one of our dishes had a human hair in it and the plate was taken away ultra fast when we flagged it
- we had to leave our table and go back to the reception to have our issues resolved
- the food we did order was beautiful
- the assistant general manager was genuinely sorry about our issues and was prepared to comp our food and champagne if we wanted to stay. It was our choice to say that we didn’t want to. He kindly insisted on offering us a complimentary drink and we felt it right to accept so cannot fault how he handled the situation and is a credit to the restaurant
- beautiful bar and great ambiance
Always a good time. Must have: grilled cheese dumplings.
Front desk staff needs improvement in their reception of guests. Other than that, everything was FABULOUS!
We loved the food and sharing plus the champagne bar in the ladies room!
Just amazing! Food... service... ambience .. everything was just superb and worth every penny
First time here on a trip to NYC. Good food, good service, nice ambience.
Red velvet waffles were a little dry sadly, we weren’t given a straw so our cocktail wasn’t mixed properly, bacon was outstanding and so cheap compared to everything else, dumplings were amazing, lobster in hash side was overpowered by spice and came out after the entrees which was confusing, ricotta pancakes were amazing, small entrees for the prices. Amazing atmosphere.
Super pretentious(for no reason) / Staff lack couth
The only thing that was a damper was that the drinks were so expensive. I live in NY so I know that you can get good drinks for decent price in the $9-14 range.
Amazing! We enjoyed everything about the restaurant
Amazing food, fun atmosphere, and great energy! I will go back again and plan to check out the other locations.
Deceptive storefront that opens to a terrific dining venue with many parlor like sitting areas. Food is very good. Noteworthy were the pastrami carpaccio appetizer and wasabi crusted tuna and lemon ravioli entrees. Small appetizers but will custom for number in your group. Service a bit uneven but waitress was pleasant and friendly. Bartenders on second floor are pompous and not welcoming. Pricey.
Great atmosphere and phenomenal dishes.
Buen lugar, mejor comida
Always one of my favorite places to have dinner at, and take visiting guests to. They never disappoint with food
Ambiance would have been a 5 star if we were in the main dining room.
Awesome food! Loved the Wonder Wheel!
Delicious food, very worth the visit!
