Beauty & Essex- New York
The atmosphere of the space is both grand and intimate, moody and effervescent. Various rooms for lounging and dining unfold on two floors, like a large turn-of-the-century townhouse. Each room has its own unique elements that celebrate timeless jewelry designs and upscale jewelry stores.
The cuisine is multi-ethnic in inspiration, casually elegant, and designed for sharing at the table among friends and family. Where the Stanton Social"s menu is Chef Chris Santos' take on cocktail party classics and street foods from across the globe, Beauty & Essex is rooted in a bold bistro direction focusing on the reinvention of modern family style dining that is both whimsical and sophisticated.
Brunch: Saturday & Sunday 11:30am-3:00pm

Outstanding tapas style dining experience. Everything we ate was superb. We will return next time we’re in NYC FOR SURE.
very friendly staff and enjoyable atmosphere. food was delicious! Very much worth a night on the town!
Good food + good ambiance
Such a jem! Great food, amazing service, classy yet fun. So glad a friend told me about this place!
Visiting NYC & the bar waitress at our hotel recommended Beauty & Essex. She said it is one of her favorite places. The restaurant did not disappoint! Loved everything about it, going through the pawn shop to get in was awesome.
The security guy and
The hostess are so rude I get it we are on New York but will
Never dine here again
It was so cold!!!! It took away from the experience. Good not what we were expecting but ok. Chips were cold but could’ve been because the restaurant was freezing.
Excellent atmosphere - such a cool entrance and location - recommend to everyone to eat there at least once !
We celebrated my sisters 21st Bday and it was THE BEST BDAY she’s EVER had!!!!!
I have been to Beauty and Essex several times and the food is always delicious. Just make sure you look at the menu before you go if you have food allergies or restrictions- no substitutions or removals allowed. This attitude is pretty unusual in a restaurant these days. They claim it’s becuase the chef wants the food eaten a certain way, but I believe it is more laziness on the part of the kitchen. They prepare the food ahead of time and warm it up when the customer is ready- I don’t believe they are making everything fresh. They do have a separate vegan brunch menu upon request.
Other than this, the ambience is cool and the food is yummy/creative.
Such a fun birthday celebration!
A thrill for the senses: incredibly combinations of food, fun rap music from 90’s, amazing aromas
its been better in the past. Food was good and service was a bit slow
Lovely time! Steak was a tad cold. Other then that everything was fantastic!
Great spot, fun vibe
The food was excellent and service was attentive. Love the look of the restaurant. Will come back
Several stand out items on the menu such as kale salad, jewel toast, and octopus cassoulet. Some other items were a little bland. Enjoyed the atmosphere and service.
I have never been to a restaurant with such POOR/RACIAL SERVICE. Upon my arrival at the check-in desk, my party and I did not even get a look in the eye. The hostess stared at her computer screen the WHOLE TIME.
When we were finally seated, we literally sat there for 26 MINUTES. Not one person came to
the table to ask us how we were or even offer a glass of water. COMPLETELY DISGUSTING.
Then a group of about 7-10 caucasian women came in and they were immediately seated as well as served water and were even placing orders! After my party and I were fed up, we decided to get up and leave and the nerve of the hostess to say "Have a Nice Day!"
I am truly not the kind of person to bring RACE into situations but this was truly an evident situation in which was obviously a factor. MY MONEY IS GREEN!
I WILL NEVER, EVER ATTEND NOR RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT. Treat people right your business will flourish!
I visit this restaurant every time I travel to New York from London and have done for years. Unfortunately this time our reserved table (booked in advance) wasn’t available to us and we ended up having to wait an hour for it. The reservation was for 9pm, but we weren’t seated until 10 when the atmosphere was dying down, by the time the food came my clients were starving hungry leaving me feeling very embarrassed. I did tell the waitress 3 times that we were still waiting for our table and was always told that the table was 5 minutes away. It was frustrating.
The food however was excellent.
We celebrated a birthday here for 28 year old with friends and family
Service was impeccable friendly
Very cool vibe
This was my second time here and can’t wait to go back
The food was amazing
We ordered a variety of apps and entrees all delicious!
Anniversary. Very quirky with really good food
Signature dishes are amazing. What stood out most was our server Amber who is FABULOUS. She took such great care of us and Beauty and Essex are lucky to have her.
Very young, vibrant vibe, super energetic! Great for a night out with some friends, looking to dine on some high quality, but simple dishes. Service is great, considering the amount of business they get. Overall amazing experience! Definitely check it out
Amazing food, drinks, and service. Small plates, so you'll have to order multiple plates. But worth it, cause you get to try a lot.
Tapas with and eclectic twist. Service was very attentive, but not intrusive. Food was shareable and excellent. Great atmosphere. Will be back!
Fantastic night out with family. The server was really the standout. Her recommendations were bang on! Definitely worth visiting multiple times. Great Gatsby ambience. The meal was delicious and well presented. Service was quick. Well priced and a great place to take your friends and wow them!
Fabulous experience....food, service, atmosphere!
Food was delicious. service was very long and made a mistake on the bill
Amazing good. Unique and different.
Great service, great food, and great music! Bit on the pricier side but worth it!
Service is ok. Food /vibe makes it worth it, not saying our server was bad but she didn’t make our experience. Still would come back it’s an amazing place
Such an amazing amabiance, great food, beautiful staff, fashionistas heaven.
Family get together
Fun atmosphere. Food was nothing special. Was okay, but overpriced
It was a great experience
Beauty and Essex was recommended to us for a special occasion and it was the perfect choice. The quirky pawn shop reception area is fun and, once inside, the decor is dark and sumptuous, creating a warm and slightly decadent atmosphere. The staff were all friendly and attentive, and our waitress in particular was helpful and lovely. She guided us through the menu and was able to advise where required. The food was completely delicious; there was nothing that we didn't love - and I can be quite picky. My husband ordered the cheesy dumplings and, as I don't eat cheese, was very happy to polish the lot off himself. We also had the salmon tartare, tuna shashimi and fillet steak (extravagant but so good). We made the mistake of ordering a glass of wine each, then deciding we wanted another, so would have been better off ordering a bottle. If I had one very minor niggle it would be that the food all came quite quickly, we would have liked to linger a bit longer over each dish. I had completely forgotten that, when booking online, I had ticked the "special occasion" box, so it was a lovely surprise to receive a glass of fizz at the start of the meal and a dish of chocolate and cake pops at the end - a really nice touch. On our way out, the two young women in the pawn shop couldn't have been more helpful directing the slightly tiddly and clueless English couple back to midtown. A great evening - loved every minute.
The food never disappoints! Love the one in Vegas and the one in NYC was also delicious and beautiful with the decor. Would recommend for date night or a fun night with friends.
