From the team behind The Stanton Social comes Beauty & Essex, a grand 10,000 square foot restaurant, bar, & lounge in the heart of the lower east side.

The atmosphere of the space is both grand and intimate, moody and effervescent. Various rooms for lounging and dining unfold on two floors, like a large turn-of-the-century townhouse. Each room has its own unique elements that celebrate timeless jewelry designs and upscale jewelry stores.

The cuisine is multi-ethnic in inspiration, casually elegant, and designed for sharing at the table among friends and family. Where the Stanton Social"s menu is Chef Chris Santos' take on cocktail party classics and street foods from across the globe, Beauty & Essex is rooted in a bold bistro direction focusing on the reinvention of modern family style dining that is both whimsical and sophisticated.

Had a reso for 5 people but they could only accommodate 4. We waited a little bit for a server to come around so we decided to only stay for drinks as it was extremely noisy and we couldn't converse at our table.

Booked a full 30 days in advance for my sisters birthday and still got stuck on a bad table in the back corner. Took 10+ minutes for the bartender to get us our tab so that we could sit down at our table (the only place I’ve been to where you couldn’t just transfer the tab to your table bill). Place was too loud for us but that’s the vibe - trendy. Food was overpriced and overrated. Went to go collect our bags from bag check downstairs and......nobody was at bag check! So I walked in and grabbed the bags myself, dropped the tickets, and kept the tip. Wouldn’t recommend.

It was awesome. The staff are friendly and went above and beyond for me before my high school graduation day.

This is a unique and amazing restaurant to entertain friends and business associates. Ambiance is incredible and food is inventive and delicious. The waitress was knowledgeable, attentive, and most of all fun! The tomato soup dumplings are a must-have, and each item was better than the last. A great time was had by all!

Amazing venue and concept! As bar/restaurant owners we had bar envy but Was disappointed in how long staff took to bring drink orders to the table meaning empty glasses at many points (a bottle of red from the cellar took over 30mins to arrive)
Music, lightening, menu and venue are unbelievable
We found the lobster slightly over cooked and too many over powering flavours for such a subtle shellfish
The bone in ribeye and the fish tacos were beautifully flavoured
The freshness of the oysters were perfect
Will definitely recommend and use next visit to nyc

Wanted to love it but surrounded by a couple of big girls groups so it was really quite loud!! It was also freezing, like I thought it might warm up but we just couldn't wait to get outside and warm up. Food was good enough and I would order everything we had again but nothing truly blew me away. We did really enjoy our cocktails though.

What a great place, recommended by a friend and it didn’t disappoint. Cocktails were delicious as was all of the food. Our waiter Andre explained how the menu worked and made a couple of suggestions. After our meal we headed upstairs for more cocktails. The perfect last night in the big apple.

gorgeous food and cocktails in this speakeasy restaurant, staff were attentive and when they forgot part of our order didn't hesitate to deduct it from the bill without asking. Very busy with glam people on a Friday night would recommend

Food was delicious but not super memorable. The soup dumplings continue to be a standout.

The champagne bar in the ladies room is a nice touch. The server there wasn’t particularly friendly as I remember in the past. I had to approach her for a glass vs being asked.

The hostess and servers were super attentive. Excellent dining service.

All menu selections were shareable - and all delicious! Especially yummy Kale Salad, Chicken Meatballs, Tomato Tartare, and Crab Rangoon. Cocktail on menu combined interesting ingredients to perfection. What a Winner!

Every time we go to Beauty & Essex, we are reminded that a trendy scene can still serve up amazing food and provide top notch service! You would think that at a place like this, you’ll be treated nice enough but feel like one of thousands. We ALWAYS feel like we are treated special and important! In a city like NYC, you feel like just a number lost in a sea of hustle and bustle. But whenever we come here, thing seems to slows and relax for us, all the while with clubby music in the background, great people watching and funky decor to admire! Absolutely my favorite place in NYC! It even tempts me to move back!

We had a lovely evening at Beauty & Essex. The food was delicious, restaurant vibey and server very friendly.
It was absolutely freezing though. So much so we ended up leaving before dessert because I was just too cold at the table.
If you are thinking of going... take a jacket!!

We had such a great experience! The food was phenomenal. Our server recommended the grilled cheese dumplings and soup. At first I was skeptical but it was amazing. I also really liked the carrot cake sundae. All the dishes were very original and our server was really nice. The ambiance of the restaurant is really cool. It's like a speakeasy only with 70s music. We tried a lot of plates so our bill was high, but totally worth it!

This place is an experience. From walking in through the front of a pawn shop to the craft cocktails, tapas style dining, this place is amazing. We did not have a plate that we did not thoroughly enjoy. Do not miss the grilled cheese and tomato soup bites. Omg. Would definitely recommend.

I love this place. When you enter you feel immersed in the unique energy of the place. A bit! loud on weekends, quieter during the week. We did have a bit of a hiccup with one of the orders, but I have to say they knocked it out of the park to make it right. And no, they didn’t comp the dish. The fact is people are too quick to expect freebies just for a small issue. If a restaurant can fix a problem in a gracious way that should be enough.

The Peruvian chicken is exceptional, and I think the best bone marrow in town. (When Prune) doesn’t have it on their menu.

Definitely a great place for a special occasion, but why would you wait? I’d be there every week if I lived in NYC.

I want to come back here! This was my first time here. After doing some digging on the Internet, I found the perfect place for a father-daughter date that I knew my foodie father would love. The flavors are unexpected and unique yet blend so well! Their cocktail menu is AWESOME. my dad and I ordered two items from the raw tapas, two salad-like items, and an entree each and we took a couple things to go. Ambiance is great. Servers are attentive without hovering. And GREAT food, of course. It’s New York; if a place isn’t good it won’t survive. This place should be around for a long time; it’s EXCELLENT! Book a reservation. Good luck if you just pop in; it’s crowded for good reason. Earlier dinnertimes will be less crowded but reservations, I’m sure, are still needed.

Came here when it first opened and it was much better then. Food was 50% good today. Fish tacos and fried chicken biscuit = sublime. Famous soup dumplings were meh. Pork belly sandwich was dry. Who ever had dry pork belly? $9 mocktail was all ice. Complaint to waitress got a "sorry. "
That drink should have been taken care of. Well - sorry, but the gratuity reflected in her attitude.

Huge fan of this place. Absurdly expensive but worth the experience. Really fun ambiance, definitely a great crowd for 20s-40s that like feeling luxe for a night. You can be ultra extra here.

Gimlet drink tastes like pesto sauce which for some reason I absolute love. Must get tuna sashimi and grilled cheese tomato soup dumplings.

Ladies, free prosecco in the bathroom- make sure to bring a few bucks down there to tip!

Unreal! This place was recommended to me by a friend. I was really hoping it would live up to our expectations as I had saved it for our last night (8th June 2018) ! It did not disappoint! It was buzzy, quirky and made me want to dance! The food was absolutely delicious! It was such a unique experience and I would highly recommend it to anybody! It was such a treat!
When I go back to NY I would totally go there again.

This is an ideal venue for a special occasion. It is a perfect example of a great place to party and get cocktails without sacrificing food quality. It is a very unique concept and the ambience keeps you energized and excited. You feel like you’re “out” but you can sit down and enjoy some amazing food. The shareable bites concept is a win - you get 4-5 dishes per person and you can try out a variety of cuisines and unique items. The cocktails were also on the money. I would go here again.

I've been to the locations in LA and Vegas before because I like the vibe and food.
Although the hostess was really friendly, we had a 45min wait time for our table. She offered us a free drink to make up for the wait time.
