Beauty & Essex has an innovative design that starts in the Pawn Shop, complete with vintage treasures and curated contemporary pieces. The host greets you in the Jewelry Box and takes you past upholstered walls into the Pearl Lounge and bar. Then you’ll find the Peacock Dining Room and the Locket Private Dining Room separated by a screen wall of antique frames. Each of these rooms are inspired by the delicate yet glamorous details of jewelry.

The cuisine, much like the design, is intended to set a new course with unique shareable dishes and twists on classic cocktails. Acclaimed chef and co-creator Chris Santos was one of the pioneers of the small, share plate dining trend that has swept the nation, and with the Beauty & Essex menu, he once again has created waves on the food scene.

Second time dining here and the food, service and ambience is top notch! The NY Strip is the best steak I have ever had. Ordered a bunch of apps for the table and every one of them was so good! So much flavor in the food! Todd, the manager is very accommodating and makes you feel right at home. Love it here and can’t wait to come back.

We've been to Beauty & Essex in the city a few times and we love it so figure we give this location at Mohegan Sun a try. It's definitely very different. We made a reservations and we had to wait for the hostess for a bit even though she saw us walk in. She was busy talking so we didn't want to interrupt. And once we walked in, the restaurant wasn't not too busy so we asked if we can have the empty couch booth but she said no, it's taken but apparently it wasn't since during the duration of our dinner to the very end, no one sat there. We thought that was rude and talk about first impression. We started off with the kale apple salad and it was okay. There were a lot of hard parts in the salad like walnuts and some were really hard to chew. We also the lobster rolls as well and that was delicious. As for our entree, we ordered the lamb chops and cod. They were both so fresh and delicious. The entrees were cook to perfection and it was really good. As for the drinks, they were on point too. We didn't get desserts because the dessert with the cherries were sold out. :( Overall, we could come back for the drinks and entrees but for the lack of service by the hostesses, there's other restaurants that we enjoyed at Mohegan Sun and they truly made our dining experience memorable. Since Beauty & Essex is only opened just a few months, probably have a lot of learning and changing to do. Hopefully things get better. We only speak the truth on all of our dining experiences for improvements. Thank you.

I’ve been to a few other Beauty & Essex locations and this one is the least impressive. Although all the staff we interacted were very very nice, the service was slow and felt rushed when we did have our server’s attention. Food was ok Tasted more mass produced than I recall at their other locations. People were more underdressed than their other locations, maybe because there was a country singer at the casino that night.

Food and service were phenomenal, but it is very loud and extremely dark. The lighting really needs to be adjusted.
