   This restaurant was closed when we arrived. Poor planning on this restaurants part. Won't make a reservation here again

   Bear Den Aspen is closed for the off season. We had a reservation for a special occasion on a Friday night. Nobody let us know they were closed. Very disappointed in the lack of communication.

   The wait staff seemed to by trying but they appeared frazzled despite the lack of busyness. Our server didn’t know what ingredients were in my dish and failed to bring a shell bowl leaving us to use a used cocktail glass for mussel shells. We were surprised by the lack of service and attention given the high reviews and also this is Aspen. The food and location were great.

   The only outdoor restaurant we’ve ever visited with no heaters in the evening. We ordered 2 glasses of wine and were charged for a bottle. Onion soup was not good. First time I’ve ever not finished it as an appetizer. Food was ok, but got cold very quickly in 50 degree weather. Not a great place to recommend.

   I have s always loved this place but have never been for dinner. Dinner was fine but lunches and breakfast have always been amazing. The service was great but the wines by the glass were super-limited and while other than the mussels, the food was very good but the mussels were worse than I can do at home, way over-cooked and shriveled.

   Worst service I have ever experienced in my entire life. The hostess was incredibly snooty and rude, and our waiter was abysmal. I felt bad because he didn’t really seem to speak English, but I don’t think that excuses all of his faults. I could go on a rant because just about everything went wrong, but the craziest thing was he tried to deliver an appetizer we didn’t order to us TWICE! It took about 40 minutes for us to get our actual appetizer after we ordered it, and the food really wasn’t worth the wait. I know Bear Den has an excellent reputation, but it might be worth it to steer clear just in case you end up with our waiter!
