Located at The Creamery Marketplace, tucked behind the intersection of Higuera and Nipomo Streets, we offer an experience unlike any other. Our open-concept kitchen boasts an impressive wood fired oven were we craft hand-made Neapolitan style pizzas to order. Soft lighting, low music, and a relaxed atmosphere can be found throughout our indoor dining space. Garage style doors roll up to reveal outdoor dining on our bricked patio where heaters warm up the cooler months and an upbeat, lively feeling resonates throughout the spring and summer seasons. Full service is available at the bar, seating is first come, first serve. We welcome you to join us for dinner, Tuesday-Saturday from 4-10pm.

Please Note: Our seating is a mix of tall tables with barstool style seating, as well as standard height tables with traditional chairs. Our outdoor patio also includes two large tables with bench style seating.

First time. Liked it. A big NO on the Detroit Pizza crust....too spongy and even a bit dry. The Neapolitan crust GF was very very good. Sweet Potatoe Pizza was really tasty. Glass of wine was excellent. It was my Birthday and I got NO special gift. NOTHING.... was slightly disappointed.😌👌

The Bear and the Wren has always been delicious and now they’ve added even more scrumptious options to their menu. You must try the garlic shrimp and burrata, peach and tomato salad. Awesome!! And our server was terrific too!

We had a great time at Bear and Wren- the detroit pizza was delicious( we tried the Bee Stang) we also had the peach burrata salad and a glass of wine/beer. Food came out quickly and the staff were very pleasant. we will be back!

It was yummy as usual! Had the shrimp appetizer with flatbread on the side…delish! Our waitress was very attentive and friendly…made sure our pizza to go was ready when we were done eating. The veggie pizza and the chorizo with peppers were both yummy as well as the wedge salad. Big fan of the agave lemonade!! Only wish I could get patio seating …the last 2 times there I tried in open table with no luck…I was told I should call the restaurant directly…I will try that next time.

Small, but hopping place in the Creamery Market that has nicely functional and separate patio seating area. We were in the patio on an unusually cool day. They have many heaters that worked nicely. Good ambiance outside but inside is small and crowded and with my hearing loss would not have been ideal. But that might be your cup of tea. Greeted quickly and seated promptly for our reservation; offered drinks quickly from a modest beverage list, which is right-sized to not overwhelm. My partner ordered a red wine and I was not imbibing. Ordered two pizzas, one Detroit Style and one GF-Neapolitan which came out at wildly different times, I waited 5-ish minutes for my partner's pizza to arrive before I started nibbling at mine. Our dining neighbors ordered exactly the same and experienced the same oddity. It is cute to announce that your orders may arrive at different times, but it is poor planning and kitchen management. Hats off for the GF crust, though! Best one we have tasted so far, with a chew, rise, and char. The bite on the crust is a little stronger than with wheat-flour, so wear the extra denture adhesive. :-D We felt that while all the topping ingredients were high quality, there were not enough of them and some were a bit out of proportion. The Elote Pizza could have used a bigger cilantro pop and the Sausage and Pepperoni, more fennel tang. After the large (12-15?) party was seated behind us, we felt a little lost. Yes, there are many orders to take and a larger total tip, but it took us a while to get a box and get the check picked up. The patio made it a nice wait, but prefer not to be lost.

Went for my husbands 62nd birthday. We had the Pasilla peppers, the zucchini dish and the flatbread appetizer to start…all 3 were delicious…full of flavor and very satisfying!! Loved the roasted garlic and ricotta with the flatbread and we piled peppers and eggplant on some bites for an extra kick! We also had the pepperoni and sausage Neapolitan pizza and the Bee Stang as Detroit style…so good! Love the crusty edges of Detroit style! Finished with the chocolate mousse/marshmallow dessert…a play on s’mores with graham cracker like cookies…did not disappoint!! Only wish more cookies came with the dish so the cookie to marshmallow/mousse ratio was better!! Great way to celebrate my husband’s birthday…we’ll be back!!

The pizza at Bear & The Wren is absolutely INCREDIBLE. The flavors are either impeccably-executed classics or unique ones that manage to be both exciting and delicious. They offer Detroit style slices that people seem to love, but we always get the Neopolitan style as it’s our favorite. I normally leave the crust behind on pizza to save room for more slices, but that is honestly impossible here as their dough is too dang good. I cannot applaud the dough makers enough!! The beer and wine selection is great as it celebrates the best our local businesses have to offer. We also love the ambiance here, as it manages to be casual yet slightly more chic/upscale with the dark interior & dim lighting. The only downside to eating at this place? It has absolutely ruined my appetite for any other pizza places in SLO… I cannot eat other thin-crust pizzas without comparing them to B&TW and wishing I was back here eating the Ricotta & Honey pizza. We’ve taken multiple family and friends here in the last year and they all rave about the pizza for weeks. Highly recommend trying the Ricotta & Honey, Margherita, Bee Stang, and deliciously fresh Elote! Love that they switch it up with seasonal flavors every few months while also keeping the fan favorites. :) 10/10 recommend!!

This place was terrific! Amazing pizzas, unique combos. And they even had vegan cheese available! Ample portions but a bit on the expensive side. Regardless, I wish we had a pizza place like this where we live. I wish this wasn't 200 miles away!

B&TW was fantastic as always. We had the Piada Bread, four Detroit Pizzas and the Peach Crumble. Piada bread should be mandated at every table. It is perfection. The peach crumble was new to us and it was ridiculously good too.

We sat outside and despite the cloudy day we never felt cold since there were ample patio heaters. We started with the meatballs and flatbread and they were amazing with only a hint of heat. We then had 2 Detroit-style pies - Potato & Leek and Bee Stang and they were both AMAZING. Service was also spot on the entire meal and we know we'll be going back - this time with larger appetites - the next time we are visiting SLO.

This is a nice little go to for us. We live in the area and enjoy the off the beaten pathness of this place. The food is consistantly good. Loved the Farro salad and always enjoy our pizza. The wine list could use some help. I love sparklers and both options were on the sweet side. Not my go to. I am always surprised at local restaurants with primarily supermarket wines. Paso is wine country... locals get with it. Since it does not advertise itself as a wine bar we will overlook that small failure and return for future meals.

The restaurant was gorgeous. Staff was super friendly and even accommodating to my children who were totally melting. We really appreciate them being so patient and kind to us! They even found some crayons and paper for them to draw on. Oh and of course the food was FANTASTIC. Get the Bee Stang. Just do it. Will definitely be visiting again.
