The Beach House is a lovely restaurant.Great service, calming atmosphere and the food was spectacular!
A screaming child set the mood for Saturday night -- and we were seated in the back at our request. I suspect the proximity to the Aquarium means more families - and another family with 4 children seated near us was delightful.
I wanted to like the food more -- hubby's corn chowder was really good, and so was his mac n cheese. My spring rolls lacked flavor, and the fish tacos were "drowning" in slaw. My blood orange margarita (or was it a mojito? I forget) did not taste like orange at all.
Maybe I just ordered the wrong food, as hubby was very happy with his. We'll try again.
I wish I could write a better review. The waitress was super lovely and attended us well. The ambience is perfect for the area. however, the food was disappointing. it wasn't bad. it just was so underwhelming. I had the brussel sprout salad, which was supposed to be a hit. unfortunately, it was tasteless. maybe some olive oil and some seasoning?
also there is no validated parking, as per their website. pay as you go.
Horrible. The waitress was trying hard , but struggled and clearly had no idea how to wait on tables. Kept dropping things, placed the main course on top of the appetizer plate we were still working on. Left us to our own devices during the 20 minute waits between drinks, apps and main , as she was the ONLY waitress there on Friday night.
Coconut mojito sweet , bland and I’m not sure if it had alcohol in it.
Long wait for drinks , another 20 minutes before appetizers appeared and they were dreadful. ‘Crispy’ Brussels sprouts were tepid things , boiled with some bacon thrown on top , The meat and cheese plate was sparse and unappealing , the goat cheese wontons appeared after an additional 10 minutes with no dipping sauce , no garnish and looked like they came from a frozen party pack and we didn’t bother eating all of them
After another long wait , where the waitress had to ‘double check our order’ (clearly she forgot ) The main arrived , with two of our plates scalding hot from sitting under the heat lamp. To be fair the risottos and shrimp and grits were very tasty and seemed fresh. It’s telling that we were surprised by this
Even after the restaurant cleared out our waitress was off busing and setting tables , had to ask for check multiple times
It’s pretty pricy for the poor quality and awkward service . Give it a pass
delicious casual dinner- staff was very attentive, lots of options for all kinds of tastes... go!
Food was ok. Restaurant ambiance was fairly absent. Service was average. So unlike its sister property in Old Greenwich which has terrific atmosphere, food and service. A disappointing meal. I would not return. I would be surprised if it is open for any extended length of time.
Overall we were pretty happy with the dining experience at Beach House Sono. Staff was attentive, food was fresh and yummy. For a friday night it was a little quiet - perhaps since they are 2 blocks away from the center of South Norwalk? Not sure but it worked for us. Had a coconut mojito that I would recommend. Also the side of truffle grits was quite tasty. Portions were well sized. We'll go back soon!
This was my first visit to beach house, and I definitely plan to return. All of the food, from appetizers, entrees and deserts, were good sized, presented well, and tasted fantastic.
Always get nervous when I try a new place and no one is in the restaurant. Overall the food had some big hits and a few misses. The mussels where a bit of a disappointment. Yellowfin tuna was a big hit. The wine we originally selected wasn't available so staff recommended something else. It was delicious. Might try it again if restaurant stays in business.
Always a great meal and great time
Really good food. Worth going off the main drag. Easy parking and a nice atmosphere. Try the Brussels sprouts salad.
Food is delicious new owners are amazing way better than when it was mamas boy
We enjoyed our meals of seafood paella and scotch salmon. Both were cooked perfectly with a presentation. Staff was extremely friendly and attentive. We will be sure to visit again next time we are in SoNo.
Music was too loud but the server lowered it for us.
The chicken fried steak was delicious and the food was piping hot.
Arrived at lunch time on a Tuesday..quiet..great service...parking adjacent..restaurant will stamp ticket for 50% off.
Across the street from Maritime Aquarium.
The food was excellent. The brussel sprouts salad was great and we had the fettuccine with shrimp and tomatoes & the seafood risotto and both dishes were very good. It was a Friday night and there were not many people in the restaurant and normally we like a more lively atmosphere. Would definitely go back since the food was so good.
As the only customers on the night before Thanksgiving, our service was superb! I loved
my paella, which had a risotto like consistency. Husband’s salad and mussels also delicious.
Nice vibe with friendly waitstaff. Brunch options are plentiful and each item we ordered was delicious. Front room is a little less noisy than the back room. Conveniently located next to parking and the restaurant even validates. Excellent experience all around. Will definitely be back!
Great new restaurant which is a little off the beaten path, but worth it!
What's not to like about this SoNo spot across from the Maritime Center? The service was top notch from the waitress to the bar tender to the manager. They all seemed to care about our experience and were just discreet enough so as not to be intrusive. The food was fresh, nicely portioned and tasty as were the good sized, well poured cocktails.
We're definitely continuing with this spot in our regular rotation.
Delicious Dinner! Everything our party of 4 chose was wonderful and above expectations. Ultra fresh seafood,
unique and varied menu selection. Thoroughly relaxing and fun. Was disappointed not to see more diners at this terrific spot. We hope the traffic picks up as it was great! Staff was accommodating, but could have been a bit more knowledgeable about menu and wine when we raised questions. That said, overall a terrific experience and we would recommend to others and go again.
Food was good. Nice choices on menu. High ceilings made for very loud space with a large party of 10 next to us. I would not go if you are looking for a quiet meal. There was a guitar/singer there but it was too loud I felt for this space. I think it needs sprucing up. I got a "sticky " feeling there. I think it used to be more of a bar.
Food was excellent. We went with all small plates and all were good. The new interior is fresh and fits the area. We were there on Friday night early and while there were only a handful of tables, service was very slow. Nice and friendly but slow.
Our waiter was wonderful and the food was delicious!
Very pleasantly surprised. Loved the menu and everyone in my group of 5 thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Great service. We will be back!
The octopus salad was wonderful! We had two chicken dishes that were out of this world. And the fish tacos were among the best I have ever had. They use good quality fish to make them.
