Took over an hour to get our food after we had ordered
Probably one of the worst dining experiences that we have had. The service was extremely slow, our appetizer took 30 minutes to get. We placed our order shortly after placing our order for our appetizer and after an hour and a half we finally decided to leave after asking twice for them to box our food up to go. We paid the bill and tipped the server but received none of our food outside of the appetizer. Extremely disappointing! To add insult to injury they did not comp any of our meal back after we paid the bill.
We really enjoyed the pretzel.
For a Saturday night that was quite slow, the service was even slower. It took 45 minutes to get appetizers after ordering. In fairness, they did comp them, but there was no reason we could discern tat the service should be so slow. They were also out of shell crackers for the crab legs and out of one of the appetizers as well, despite few diners. On the positive side, the food was fine and the beer selection was quite strong.
Dining during times of Covid requires patience. It’s
not easy for the restaurants/staff, etc. so
we go with that mindset. We had made reservations and when we arrived were able to dine out on the covered porch. It was busy but they appeared to have the diners reasonably spaced indoors. Took longer than it should have to get our drinks (which were very good)and then quite along time for our appetizer-apparently it had gone to another table. The server apologized and the manager said she would removed it from our bill. Our entrees (shrimp and grits and grouper) were very good and we would have gotten dessert but we were too full and tired. We will definitely return next time we’re in the area.
The was delicious, the server was amazing and quick. My only complaint ( and not a huge one,) the high tops are really hard for short people to sit at. The chairs are not short people friendly at all. Tip... I took a chair from the bar 😉
Over priced food for the quality. It's loud and just meh.
We were a party of six..... an automatic 20 percent was added to the bill....no choice!! Very expensive ....no choice of vegetable and all sides were an extra $5 .... chowder was salty which they apologised for but no adjustment to the bill. Mashed potatoes were cold again just an apology. Definitely a la carte prices without the finesse!! The server and hostess were accommodating and our family made the evening pleasurable as we were together and on vacation. I sincerely hope the employees received the gratuity and not the establishment!
Great food! We have eaten there multiple times. Would highly recommend.
It took over 30 minutes to get our drinks from the bar, and when they arrived they were water down from melted ice. We couldn’t get out plates to go with our appetizer because our server just straight up disappeared. The only bright spot was a manager who comped what we had ordered so that we could leave to go elsewhere.
Anniversary trip- waiter was attentive and friendly. Outdoor dining OK but of the 5 overhead fans, only 1 was working- could have helped keep the flies away and offer some breeze on a very still and humid evening. Table was very sticky and it was apparent it had not been wiped down. Food was very tasty with good quantity and quality. I had reasonable expectations of this place during these times (Covid- 19) and they were met
A lot of the food on the menu wasn’t available to order. The food was very bland. Long wait times for food and the service wasn’t what I would expect for a restaurant in that price range.
Everything was ok ! They were out of a lot of Fish and crab that evening ! The waiter was not personable or attentive was really awkward when he came around to get our order!
Service was slow despite restaurant not being very crowded.
The shrimp was good, the oysters were questionable, tasted very fishy. Could not eat. The server brought “take out” plastic eating utensils. Asked for real silverware like other were using. The breakfast was very good.
Dear BrendaT, Thank you for taking time to share feedback on our dining experience at Beach House. First of all, thank you for choosing to dine with us- it was our pleasure serving you! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Thank you as well for your constructive feedback on how we can continue to improve the guest experience. We apologize that you didn't enjoy a 5 star dining experience and would love to welcome you back!
As we reserved the table through the Open table app we didn’t consider table preferences. When we checked in at the almost empty restaurant we requested an outside table. Sasha, the hostess, told us since we had not requested an outside table in our reservation that one was not available. The entire time we were at the restaurant 4 of the 7 to 8 tables outside remained empty. And although this is during the coronavirus each empty table outside was appropriately distanced. Also, the restaurant was out of hamburgers, low country boil, steak, soup of the day. Our reservation was at 7pm. Poorly run restaurant, poorly trained staff. Disappointing experience.
Thank you for sharing your candid feedback regarding your visit to Beach House. In this "new normal" of travel and dining we have certainly had to make adjustments and have learned a lot along the way because of guest feedback such as yours. So thank you! We recently revised a number of our policies, including reservations, to improve the guest experience. Thank you for your patience and we certainly hope to have an opportunity to serve you in the future! Sincerely, Shelly Brown
Great views, but limited menu (likely due to COVID-19). I really wanted the shrimp & grits.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review your visit. It was our pleasure serving you! I do apologize that you weren't able to enjoy the Shrimp & Grits. You are correct, regarding the menu, but we certainly forward to welcoming you back so that you can enjoy Shrimp & Grits on your next visit. They are delicious! Sincerely, Shelly Brown Guest Relations
The server was not kind. Rushing us out.
This was a less than exciting experience. The food was below average. The restaurant was very nice looking in the pictures but in person a bit rundown. The service was however good... unfortunately the food just didn’t measure up. $70 dinner for 2 that could have been had at captain D’s for $15. Also avoid the lava cake. First time we have ever had one that had no chocolate in it.? Disappointing all around.
We had a reservation on a Sunday evening and yet it still took a long time to get our food. Key lime pie is highly recommended.
We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Courtney our waitress was great.
The Surfer's Delight drink was great; the frozen lime margarita was not.
The shrimp Alfredo was ok and the crab cakes were excellent.
What was unacceptable was that the supervisor brought out our food and while all the other waiters were wearing a mask she was not. I asked her about it and she said it was hot in the kitchen and she could not wear it. What she does in the kitchen is her decision, but she needs to protect her customers and she should be wearing one to protect ME per the CDC guidelines.
The food was ok, value wise, it was not on par with the price.
Great location. Terrible food. We waited 25 minutes for our server to acknowledge us even though the restaurant was barely full. To be fair, they looked short handed and when our server did show, she was nice and attentive. The food was awful. Nothing we ordered was good. A shame too, given their great location. Wouldn’t go back if the food was free.
The waitress was great! There were many problems the waitress had to come back to the table 4 times to start after every beer I ordered off of their menus was out. Then we ordered starters they were out of the first three starters that we wanted and then after we ordered dinner she came back 5 minutes later to say they were out of crab legs so I couldn’t get the low country boil. It was only 5 pm. I felt bad for the waitress because the management let her down
Amazing
Everything was great. Manger runs a great restaurant with timely service. Recommend reservations.
Food & drinks very good for the price. Shrimp pizza was really good and crab cakes were fantastic. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
First time here and we had a great time. Staff were super! We will return. Thanks
Serving staff was awesome. Food was delish. We are on the patio and we’re able to keep social distance from other guests.
Great bar food and fun cocktail names. Read the menu for laughs. They don't rush you and are very nice. Roddy does a great job. Open Table said 7 pm was not available but there were a few tables from 7 on. Why tell us 6:15 was the only time available?
Familiar feeling, nice with local beer.
Would like to return.
Sadly the vegetable pizza was close to inedible. The entire centre was under cooked and half of the thickness was almost raw. Presumably the amount of topping had kept it cold. We ate maybe a quarter from the outside. The waitress offered to replace it, but we just weren’t interested. Such a shame.
NeilD- Thank you for your review. I apologize that your meal was inedible. We strive to have the best pizzas on the island but this unfortunately was not one of them. If you are ever on Jekyll Island, I would love to meet you. Vince Johnson Food and Beverage Director
So I was a little concerned after reading some of the negative reviews. It turns out I was worried about nothing. My experience could not have been better! We were seated promptly, our server was attentive, our food came quickly and was as fresh as can be. It was delicious! This is definitely my wife and I’s favorite place on Jekyll Island so far, and we have been to several restaurants. We will be back every time we are in town.
DougA- Thank you for giving us the opportunity to make this a favorite place for you and your wife. I am excited that the two of you enjoyed yourselves while here. Next time you are on Jekyll Island I would love to meet you. Vince Johnson Food and Beverage Director
Made reservations for 9:15 on Valentines Day. The staff seemed inconvenienced by us being there. The menu was printed on a sheet of paper as was the wine list. Terrible wedge salad and mediocre food. The staff was already setting up for breakfast before we left at 10pm. So much for s romantic evening.
PaulS- Thank you for your review. It disheartens to know that you did not enjoy your Valentine dinner. I apologize if you felt your were an inconvenience. We strive to give every guest quality service and the best food. Next time you are on Jekyll Island, I would love to meet you. Vince Johnson Food and Beverage Director
They did not have my OpenTable reservation when we arrived. After a short wait we were seated.
Skip- Thank you for taking the time and rating us four-star. We hope you come back soon!!! Vince Johnson Food and Beverage Director
The seafood was fresh and well prepared. The service was friendly and attentive. We will be going back.
Anniversary
I got there early before my reservation and they got me right on in to a table. I went for the thanksgiving buffet. There were plenty of selections and everything that i ate was very tasty. Almost as good as grandma
On the island for the weekend, we have dined here before and wanted to try again. Food and service was good , restaurant just has a different feel in off season . We Missed live music outside , made for a quite evening .
Sitting outside was very nice, but service and food were both mediocre.
wasn't allowed to get a main course for the kids menu and add mac and cheese , had to order TWO kids meals.
