All round amazing dining experience! Everything was sooo delicious, perfectly spiced and prepared! Would highly recommend.
Shoutout to Liam for the amazing menu recommendations: malawach, duck hummus, and oxtail tagine. I would eat that all day if I could. I might end up looking like a warm fluffy pita bread… but it would be so worth it!
This was not my first time visiting this hidden gem in DTLA’s Arts District. Compared to my other dining experiences, the service and food at Bavel is CONSISTENTLY superb. The ambience is a mix of fine dining meets urban garden party. If you plan on conversing with your party, I recommend requesting the outdoor patio since it is quieter. However, if you are looking to drink all the fine wine and have a good time, the lively indoor dining area will suffice.
Reservations fill up quickly, especially during peak dining hours. I recommend booking a few weeks ahead if you have a preferred time.
Delicious and attentive!
Music is way too loud to hear the server or our party talking.
Great service !
This was my second time to Bavel and it could not have been more different. Music was so loud one had to shout to be heard by people at my own table, as did everyone in the restaurant making for an almost unbearably loud noise level. Not at all conducive to an enjoyable meal.
My friend and I had a great dinner experience! It was my first time here and I will definitely be back! The service was outstanding, from the sommelier to the waiter. The food was also delicious, with my favorite dish being the lamb neck! I can’t wait to be back!
Wow, what a great array of delicious and fascinating tastes! The best hummus I’ve ever tasted, incredible prawns, soft “farm cheese” with zatar that everyone loved, exotically marinated olives, fish and oxtail main plates perfectly cooked… The service is outstanding, so personal and enthusiastic. The wine selection is unique and fun. My only complaint: the wine prices should be brought down so everyone can enjoy these wonderful largely unknown wines. Please, hip thoughtful restaurants, price the wines to be accessible to most diners.
Always consistent having not been her for years. Will return again and again.
Wish they had a vegan menu but so good!
The food at Bavel is outstanding as always. I've never had a bad meal here! I'd suggest coming with a larger party so you can try more of the dishes. We came on a Monday night and it was super crowded and lively.
Every dish and drink was absolutely delicious. BUT! we spent the entire time scaring flies away since we were seated on the patio. It made really hard to enjoy our meal.
Everything was great! Fish and lamb rack was perfect!
Great food, but they ran out of several items early in the evening
We were given spot on service. We needed to get to an event. At a time when service is spotty this was terrific.
I love the food and the ambiance here. My only complain is the hostesses, they are very unaccommodating. This includes their manager who’s extremely difficult to deal with.
The food was very average starting from the appetizer to the entree to the dessert. The ambience is good. I would not go there again.
Had reservation at 8:15 but sat down at 9:15. Ran out of an item we ordered. Food is good but looks like they need to improve on management.
UnPleasantly Noisy - music was way too loud every where in restaurant, and we we found the noise level disruptive sitting on the patio as their speakers are everywhere. I've eaten at Bavel in Person 8-9 times, three times pre-pandemic. And order another 6-8 to go Meals.
Last thing was being teated rudely in the last 1/3 of our meal by the female waiter with 3 months experience, after she had brought a taste of Italian wine that was good, not great, but very expensively priced by the glass at $34/glass. We declined as we really weren't in the mood for wine, and at that price we were even more sure. I know wine, at Bavels bottles they bring to your table can be expensive, and they also can be good. That said we just really weren't in mood to go that route during our meal, as our cocktails had been good.
Our waitress, basically abandoned us from then on, in our meal. I observed her having other tables to start so I know she was busy, but if she had engaged us we might have ordered expresso or dessert or both. But after 40 more minutes of no contact, and we had been a friendly table, we had to get her attention to get our bill so we could depart. When our final credit card receipt was placed on table by same server there wasn't a good bye, or a thank you, or anything. Just silence which struck us all as surprising and rude.
In departing I asked the hostess in charge if there is ever a time, such as a beginning of evening, if the music is lower, and she said no.
I'm probably only in for take out, if that. Their big inside re-opening is a disappointment. Too bad.
Amazing as always. The food gets better and better every time we go!
The food is amazing. Service is amazing. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a special dining experience.
Food was fantastic! Really great for vegetarians as well. The mushroom kebab was outstanding, the prawns delicious, the dips and salads also very good. The lamb neck was good but could have been seasoned better. Dessert, the pistachio ice cream and strawberry sumac pastry, were incredible.
Service- our server was not great. She wasn’t around and she made us a little uncomfortable. The bus guys were fantastic! Really great service from everyone else- like 5 star service, just not our server.
So they have a very few items for dinner like 4, and 3/4 items was sold out. Plus they were sold out of Coca Cola … like seriously?? No coce left on the high class restaurant?
All spreads were goood but you must try the chicken liver pâté!
Their baba ganoush is to die for! Everything tasted fantastic.. drinks were top notch.
Obsessed. The most delicious food you’ll ever eat
Delicious food and excellent service. The ambience was better inside than on the patio, so in retrospect, I wish I had requested to be inside. The table we were at on the patio was situated where the sun kept hitting my husband in the eye, and my son got bit by mosquitos. It was pretty hot too. But I can't really fault them since I didn't say anything to the staff. Nevertheless, the food and drinks were delicious. Everything was good, but especially recommend the grilled dorade.
Amazing food experience
Loved everything Our waiter Scott was the best will be back again very soon with friends
We waited 25 mins for our table, after seated our waiter was nonexistent, strongly suggest having 2 waiters for a party of 12.
Reserved this for my cousin and his friends visiting from out of town. They loved and raved about the food and service
Fantastic all around - delicious food and high quality. The ambiance with open kitchen was amazing, and the freshly made pita stole the show.
The music was toooo loud. Other than that I give them 5/5
Amazing food. Adam and the wine list were FIRST CLASS
All around perfect restaurant. The type of place that makes LA such a special place
All the food choices were amazing! a fun night for my out of town visitors - said best meal they had enjoyed in a long time - and he is a chef! thank you.
An excellent meal and cocktails enhanced by fantastic service by the waitress and the support staff. We were a party of 5 so we got to sample and share a variety of food. The chicken liver mousse and farm cheese were great starters, the sesame bread went well with it. The ocean trout in a pomegranate broth so,so refreshing, light and palate cleansing. The harissa marinade grilled prawns appetizer was outstanding and among the best dishes of the night. We also ordered the oyster mushroom kebab which was flavorful but were diminished when compared to the prawns. For entrees the oxtail tagine in a cherry reduction with coconut rice and the rack of lamb were delicious and the right size for us to share. We ended this meal with pluot claufoutis which was surprisingly light and a perfect end to a great meal. We left with memories of the great flavors, tantalizing aromas and lovely presentation. Kudos to chefs Ori Menashe and Genevieve Gergis and their entire team.
One of our favorite restaurants thus far. We’ve eaten it almost monthly for a year now. Great wines, the lamb shawarma and various fish crudos are always amazing. Very loud indoors, but indoors is a great vibe.
Wonderful experience and value. Food is absolutely PHENOMENAL. My Dad is older and thinks he’s seen it all, done it all, eaten it all and is the most unexcited person about eating out and he LOVED it. I was so happy he was happy. You can’t go wrong on the menu. literally everything is so tasty.
Delicious and innovative Mediterranean fine dining. Ambiance is rather casual, and the restaurant itself is lively (or noisy depending on how you feel about it) with somewhat loud music. A great place for special occasions if you're not keen on having to primp and preen beforehand.
