Bavaro's Pizza Napoletana & Pastaria-St Pete
A company committed to the art and craft of Neapolitan pizza, Bavaro’s stays true to tradition by using hand-crafted, wood-fired brick ovens designed by third-generation Neapolitan craftsmen, a 100-year-old yeast culture, 100-year-old Neapolitan recipes, and top-of-the-line ingredients sourced directly from Italy.

As a pioneer in the traditional Neapolitan pizza culture, Bavaro’s has set the standard for authentic Italian food, and has paved, and continues to pave, the way for many others in the industry.
Reserved outdoor seating.. arrived 10mins early , waited for 20mins. When an outdoor table did come available, the hostess placed another party at that table (that did not have a reservation).. We waited a little longer to finally be seated inside. The waiter was hurried and wanted our entire order all at once.
The party did did NOT have a reservation should have waited 10 more mins for the table inside and I would have then sat down to eat at my almost desired time and my preferred seating.
Bavaro’s has a fun, energetic vide. We made a reservation on opentable and when we arrived our table was waiting for us, although the indoor/outdoor seating was packed. Our server, Amy, was outstanding, she came to our table right away, was attentive to all our needs and she has a fun personality. Her suggestions for entrees were great, and quite tasty. One of the owners, Peter was making rounds talking to people and making sure we all were enjoying ourselves. I would highly recommend Bavaro’s.
Thank you so much for the review!
Overall everything went very well. Good service and good food
Thank you for the review!
I am an Italian temporarily residing in Clearwater.
For us, pizza is a weekly ritual and I looked for a pizzeria with a wood oven.
Bavaro offers a good product, with top ingredients. Of course, the cost is high compared to Italian prices, but the pizza here is very good.
Thank you for the candid review Michele!
Pizza crusts were soggy. Only one server for all indoor & outdoor tables. She did her best but the restaurant was understaffed.
Table not ready until 7pm despite reservation. Refused to push 2 tables together to accommodate.out of many items on the menu. Server put every hot plate and drink in front of my 2 year old even after i asked she not do that.
We used to come pretty regularly however we always feel rushed. We understand the dining room is small and turnover is crucial for the wait staff but we would also like to not feel that we are an annoyance which we especially felt this time.
Awesome customer service! The host (I’m sorry I don’t remember his name) was so welcoming and took great care of us. Amy was great especially with our mistake on our order she made it right. The complimentary pizza while we waited was unexpected and greatly appreciated. We will be back for sure!
Arrived at 4pm on Saturday 12/21/2019, seated promptly. Glad we went early as it did get busy by 5pm. Ordered ANTIPASTO ITALIANO, Margherita pizza, penne alla vodka pasta dish, two glasses of wine. Overall food was good. We like Central ave St pete and the small cafe restaurant is quaint with a nice downtown feel, good ambiance. Personally the pizza needs to be cooked slightly more (and I like it slightly under cooked. not charred or dry) but last time too it needed a little more time in the oven for flavor and to stay together when eating a slice but still good. Small pasta serving for the price, $10 for a glass of wine and only 1/4 full glass and the anti pasta was a bit skimpy as well for that price. I would still recommend Bavaro's because still good overall. Very open to trying other similar places in the area, thy're plentiful.
I had high hopes, but ended up disappointed.
We ordered the antipasto bavaro with a description of “imported mozzarella di bufala with prosciutto di parma, extra-virgin olive oil, wood-fired bread.” What we got was....okay? But didn’t match this description at all. We got seasoned mozzarella with prociutto on a bed of arugula with grape tomatoes and no bread. Upon asking, we were told they were out of bread (which was shocking for an Italian restaurant), but they would give us plain baked pizza dough instead. It didn’t taste terrible, but we were just confused by the difference between what was read on the menu and what was ordered. Also, if you’re out of bread, why wouldn’t we be told that as soon as we ordered it in case we wanted something different?
For our meal, we got a classic margherita pizza. The taste was good, but not great. What was not good at all, however, was how soggy the pizza was. The sauce was runny, and the crust wasn’t crisp at all. Also, there were two basil leaves on the entire pizza, and they were both on one slice. What’s the point of adding basil to a pizza if you’re barely going to add any at all?
Maybe it was an off night, but as a first time diner I likely would look at another pizza place instead of returning as a result of our experience.
Great!! Food and service wonderful!
As ever, the most delicious pizza, delightful antipasto platter and great wine. What could be better? Bavaro's is our very favorite place for casual Italian dining in St. Petersburg.
Clam dish very little food for the price compared to other places which gives you more (and better broth) when clams or muscles ordered
Upscale pizzeria, perfect for a date, or evening with the family. Great wine selections, and really, how many places have spaghetti alle vongole..and it is fantastic.
One of our standard places in the city to get the best brick oven pizza. Everything here is outstanding but the pizza keeps us coming back. Plenty of options, but not too many to cheapen an authentic experience. The various sauces are absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.
Thank you so much for the review!
Love the pizza. Good wine selection as well
The original restaurant in Tampa used to be my favourite restaurant for many years but it seems that they have neglected the quality ingredients that they used to use. It was still a nice evening out but doesn’t live up to how good it used to be.
Hi there Annaleise, we are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with you visit to our location in St. Pete. We assure you that our ingredients are, if not more, refined and of higher quality. On behalf of our team, we hope that you join us again soon.
As always Bavaro's comes through and meets or exceeds expectations. The food is always good and the service is top notch. The flavors jump out of the plate at you, very good ingredients.
Enjoyed the meal .. glad we made a reservation,,as it was busy ( high school homecoming diners ). Food was very good , especially the pasta bolognese..place was noisy.. service a little slow, but friendly..
Great meatballs and bruschetta! We also had a prosciutto pizza, very tasty!
Good food and friendly staff. A bit expensive for a pizza and a salad with wine, but nicely done. Sometimes can be unpleasantly loud depending on the crowd.
Their pizza is the best! It's small but the ambiance is nice. No too fussy and not too casual. Just Right!
Great pasta, authentic pizza. service could be better but that's florida
Great food and service.
Always made to order
Special kudos to the pizza chefs And servers that always make sure that my allergies are catered to in a way to ensure I don’t get cross cross contamination. It’s very much appreciated so I can enjoy their delicious food!!!
Our server was not on it and food had to be recooked.
Hi there, we are sorry for the experience you had with us. We would like to invite you back with a gift card for your next visit to have a better experience. Please email email@example.com if you are interested.
While our food was delicious, our server was very slow and often forgot about us. Our food for four people came out at four different times. Great bolognese though!
We love this place. Food is great, especially pasta dishes. But this night it was very crowded, thus extremely noisy. Almost too noisy to talk with our friends. I know some restaurants think this gives an energetic vibe, and it can, but we couldn't talk. It was 6pm on a Sunday night. We never expected it to be like a Fri or Sat night. But good for Bavaro's. Not so good for visiting with friends unless you want to shout, which some around us were doing.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that likes coal-fired pizza. Great atmosphere, service and the quality of the ingredients is awesome.
Very loud, food just ok, 17$ for spaghetti and meatballs is outrageous.
Both of us ordered pasta dishes. We took the recommendation of our server and the pasta dishes were amazing. Wine selections were very reasonably priced as was the food. We are going to become regulars!
A fun spot for a family b-day dinner! Appetizers are generous - meant to be shared. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. We received a complimentary Nutella desert - which we all loved! Our server was great too.
Small restaurant but nice atmosphere. Food was great. Meatball appetizer is good to share. Tagliatelle bolognese was very good. Service was fine Our server wasn’t the warmest person. Will go back to try the pizza.
Added bonus of gluten free pasta!
Outstanding food and service
It's a regular stop so what else needs to be said.
Like eating the best pizza and preparations with your family.
Maximo and the rest of the staff are the best.
You know this is a place that ownership takes pride in.
Everything is done right!
Server was nice, reservation was ready. Table was right by the door though, not the best ambiance. Food (pizza) was pretty good, but arrived a bit cold. Overall good but not great.
We enjoyed our dinner, arrived a bit early then our reservation, and they were able to seat us earlier with no problem. Pizza was very good and the atmosphere was enjoyable
