Located at the "Gateway to Southtown," the Historic and Majestic Firehouse #7 is home to Restauranteur Andrew Goodman and Chef Stefan Bowers newest concept, Battalion. After a nearly two year renovation, "The Rock" has been restored as the crown jewel of Southtown. Overlooking the spectacular downtown cityscape and the famous Tower of Americas, Battalion's contemporary design merges perfectly alongside the historic building's strong, yet weathered 1920's craftsmanship. Chef Bowers has created an extensive menu of fresh pastas, char-grilled meats, stunning vegetable dishes and Italian classics. Complimenting the menu is a comprehensive wine list and a refreshingly original cocktail program.

Very excited to have eaten at Battalion. Food was excellent and not your typical Italian fare. Meatballs were great. Everything was great. Definitely will go back.

Food was amazing service was great the only thing that threw me off a bit aside from the dark lighting, the guy at the bar with his dogs sitting on his lap eating of his plate. Not something I expect to see at a restaurant where I'm spending over 100 for 2.

Great atmosphere here; contemporary modern. The waiter Christiaan offered suggestions from the menu and was not wrong. All the dishes presented were distinct and offered great flavors. They were medium portioned so sharing of a few was encouraged. Likewise the deserts were portioned enough to be easily shared. Overall great experience, we will be back!

The food was fantastic! Our favorites were the Beet Salad and the Spinach Dumplings. I also had a Dirty Gin Martini that was perfect.

Our first two courses were the roasted beet salad and the eggplant dip/spread. Both were good flavor but the eggplant was very spicy which was not part of the description. We also had the wild boar pasta which was also spicy but had only one small morsel of boar in the entire serving which was disappointing. We ended our meal with the veal which was tasteful and tender for the most part. The wine was delicious (super tuscan) and Maurice was a very attentive server. We enjoyed our evening but will most likely not return with all the other restaurants out there to try.

The Battalion is consistent! We keep going back to Italian Cuisine! The Spinach Pasta Balls are rich and delicious! The fried Calamari as an Appetizer is a must, its lightly battered with sliced jalapeno peppers to give it just the right amount of kick!
I was looking for a Tequila Cocktail and there was only one on the menu and it ended up that it had a liquor that I didn't enjoy. Our waiter came right over and I guess he could see that it was not to my liking! Without hesitation did he whisk it off to take care of me!
Service with a Smile, too! Thank you Battalion for another great evening with you!

The Battalion has unique and flavorful Italian food. I loved the blend of flavors. All of the pastas are made fresh. The restaurant is in an old fire station which really adds to the ambiance.

The food is an absolute masterpiece. Flavors are carefully curated and well thought out. The ambiance was also excellent as were the cocktails. Katy was very informative and provided us with guidance with ordering that gave us a perfect experience from start to finish.

We visited Battalion for our anniversary. We would have preferred to be seated upstairs where you have a pretty view of the city and it is more of a date night atmosphere. But instead we were seated downstairs where it was almost too dark and the decor is uninviting for a romantic date. Drinks, to include water, stayed empty for longer than expected. Food was good and waiter was knowledgeable. Only complaint I really have is the seating and not being given the option.

It was okay. Our server gave an entire run down and explanation of the menu to BOTH tables adjacent to us and told us nothing. Shame. It was our anniversary and we were looking forward to trying this place for a long time. Food was good. Wish we had the actual service EVERYONE around us was getting.

What a fantastic restaurant experience! We decided to go here on the last night of Restaurant Week and am so glad that we did. It is in an old revamped Firestation which adds to the ambiance. The service was impeccable with a fantastic Waiter. The food was excellent and very well thought out. This is a definite must return restaurant!

Visiting my daughter and 2nd time we’ve eaten here. The old fire station is a cool venue complete with fire poles. Food is delicious! We had grilled octopus and calamari both were excellent. I had the wild boar ragu and my daughter had the pasta with cheese can’t remember the name. Spinach gnocchi is also delicious. Pasta portions are not large but definitely sufficient. Finished with an enormous tiramisu and flan! Service was great as well. Very fun with cool vibe!

We went for restaurant week. It was our first time there. The octopus and trout were amazing while the rest of the courses were just okay. The veal was tough and for an up charge, it didn’t match up. Over all we had a great time and we will probably go back to try the regular menu.

I think Battalion is a gorgeous venue!! I have always loved the appetizers offerred and I really enjoy sitting at the beautiful bar!!
I went to take advantage of Restaurant week, and was very disappointed. Only one bartender during a very busy Tuesday night...not good. When our table was ready it took us 10-15 min to pay our bar tab. I was not thrilled with being seated downstairs...that however is my fault, when i made the reservation I didn't even consider we would be downstairs so I didn't request upstairs.

Great waiter! Meatball appetizer was highly seasoned which was a good thing but the salt level made them inedible, I sent them back and they were replaced with a nice pasta, Trenne Bombay...and my friend loved her Blistered beet salad...Dinner, I got Veal Marsala, a sad piece of veal with sauce that had no hint of Marsala ...veal wasn't as tender as it should have been, the wild mushrooms were really nice and the parsnip puree really didn't work under it all mixed with the sauce...heh...dessert was small and simple but this tart was nice and had the creamiest consistency ever...great flavor and crust but needed to be presented a little more upscale...maybe even a smear or ? I will return to Battalion for drinks and apps at the bar but I don't think I will ever dine there again....food came out really slow, dinner took over 2 hours from the time we were seated...Battalion is highly regarded and very busy, they should be able to handle it more efficiently...

It was restaurant week so it was packed and it kept our server on his toes! The bartender was great and she made great cocktails as we waited for our table. I will recommend Battalion without any hesitation.
