I absolutely love coming to Bastille for dinner or brunch. The food is always phenomenal and the service matches.
Lovely food, service and experience.
Excellent wine pairings, and a very knowledgeable waiting staff.
I went with my husband and a friend. The food was generally delicious although I thought the sauce on the chicken was a little bit salty. I was disappointed that the printed menu didn't indicate gluten free even though the same menu items were labeled online. The Toulouse Sausage dish was labeled GF online but our server said it was not.
We've been a number of times and always like the experience. The cocktails were amazing and the wine list is very nice and well curated. I had the chicken liver pate as a starter which was excellent. Great flavor and texture with the apricot jam on the top off-setting the fat nicely. I had the falafel and was underwhelmed. The flavors were muted for all of the components. The falafel themselves were quite bland and the outside crust was overdone. I would not order that again. My dinner companions were very happy with their gnocchi and lamb burgers, though.
Unfortunately Sunday brunch in the atrium was less a French brunch, but more like a noisy night at a bar. Your guests may be loud, but why add additional loud rock music to the mix?
My husband and I absolutely love this place and have since they first opened. Their food is always, always excellent; their service is always top-notch; and it's such a beautiful space to spend an evening or brunch. Love love love Bastille!
We were early, the staff was very accomodating in seating us appropriately
Always a good meal although the menu is not French it is decent food
Really nice place with a good vibe. The sommolier Sarah was awesome. She's made a nice cost conscious selection for us. The mussels were really good and the fries were delicious.
Upon arriving, the hostess said we had no reservation. I showed her my Opentable confirmination and she still said there was no reservation. I had her pull up all her tables and it turns out she had already marked that she had sat us, but it was another party of 4. Not us. When we ordered, two out of the four of us dining ordered lamb burgers to be medium, and they were sent out practically raw. The waitress was very sorry but we waited 20 min + for our burgers while our friends were already done eating. When we got the burgers back they were well done and dry. Service was also pretty slow. Not a good experience, not coming back.
Over the years the food at Cafe Bastille keeps improving. Had the mushroom gratin and it was gone in a flash. Atmosphere is always lively.. in a good way.
The food was excellent. The service was phenomenal (thanks Sarah!). We will definitely be back.
We normally give Bastille 5 stars across the board but, this time, it wasn’t up to par. The frites accompanying the moules we so over cooked they were not edible. They were 1 to 3 inches long and dark brown, nearly black. Figure they dumped the end of the fryer basket and tried to pass them off as frites. Not good and not what we’ve come to know from Bastille. Disappointing.
Fantastic ambiance and vibe. Food is super solid. This year's Bastille day festivities better than ever. (only issue is that entries beat the beers to the table somehow)
Miss playing petanque too but I understand...no more empty lots in Ballard anymore!
We've visited Bastille & Back Bar on several occasions. The food is excellent and reasonably priced and the service is excellent. We've always enjoyed very personable servers who add much to our experience. The music groups that play on occasion are excellent, and special occasions such as Bastille Day are, well, special...to say nothing of being unique.
Another great night at Bastille — the food and service continue to rank among the very best in Seattle.
We used Open Table to book the reservation, but the problem was that the notes I made there didn't transfer to the hosts and that was frustrating. A birthday celebration was not acknowledged.
Went with another couple to celebrate Bastille Day and a graduation. Such a fun experience! Food was fantastic!
Service always attentive without being intrusive. The moule frit was great, the lamb burger delicious. And the salads are the best in town. Always imaginative and wonderful. Cocktails interesting and successful. The fries/frit over salted. Salt very lightly and leave the rest to the customer is our advice. This is a reliably great restaurant. We’ve been there many times and have never been disappointed. Downsides are shared with other restaurants in town —- noise level and parking challenge in the neighborhood.
Always love it there! Would love to have dessert too for brunch.
One of the best restaurants Seattle has to offer. Definitely my favorite neighborhood place eat. Great for a place to go on a special occasion, like a dinner date or when friends visit from out-of-town. Been there multiple times already. Definitely will be back!
The environment is good but the food is mediocre and overpriced
We loved the atmosphere and booth seating. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I’d highly recommend the cheese platter as an appetizer. The mussels were outstanding and my friends enjoyed the chicken dish and the sausage with fava beans and leeks. We will definitely be back!
We were seated indoors by the window. It was fun to watch people walking by on a warm summer Friday night. There was a party of 8 seated next to us. A couple of the males were slightly intoxicated and were unable to use an inside voice.
I will definitely be back. BEST POMME FRITES EVER!!!!!
The food was amazing, we had a lovely night, absolutely loved the steak and the shellfish were great!
Keep up the outstanding work!!! We were sad that we didn't come on the night that you show obscure French New Wave films, though!!! ; )
Food, service and ambiance were very good and conducive to an unrushed and enjoyable business dinner. Service was in step with the pace of our meeting. Unfortunately, the only negative was the seating surface of the booth that was quite sticky due either a recent refinishing or breakdown of the varnish.
My husband and I ate here for our honeymoon. We received 2 celebratory glasses of wine as soon as we were seated. The server was very informative and attentive. Everything tasted amazing. The ambience is incredible. Would absolutely recommend to anyone wanting a fun/romantic dinner.
We each chose the moules (mussels) and frites... served European style. The Special included a scrumptious beet salad and a delicious cherry ice cream/pastry dessert. The mussels were large, tender and served in a wonderful broth. The frites could have been crisper, and the baguette less chewy, but they were not a distraction. Our waiter was prompt and helpful, answering all our questions, and suggested the wonderful white and sparkling wine flight (we finished one, then enjoyed a second). A rich cappuccino rounded out a nearly perfect lunch.
Food not to my taste. Back bar was ridiculously cold.
I really like the ambience of this restaurant group. Each restaurant decoration is thoughtfully made and has character. It also is a great place to have large groups.
Everyone at the table thought the food was overall good and perfectly cooked (the fish and the meats) but everything was extremely salty. Even for people who love salt, they found it salty.
This is in general for all the restaurants in this group but I think the prices are a bit too high. Feel like each dish can be reduced by $3-$5, however the portions I think are very generous.
The server was friendly but, it was a surprise that upfront upon arrival we were told that the cake cutting fee was $30. But yet, the cake was brought out in the box, with the top flap open and a couple candles lit. It could have at least been taken out and placed on a plate...it was quite awkward and we really questioned why there was a cake cutting fee. Also, turned out that the cake cutting fee was $2 per guest, not $30. Nonetheless it was a strange moment.
It was as always great. The hostess was very pleasant and knowledgable about the wines. I love it here!
Wonderful brunch with exemplary service.
Great food but always too noisy for visiting with dinner companions. We had a great time; better after some tables cleared.
Great food, excellent location, and superior service.
The overall meal was great. Service was very good. But the place was crowded and very noisy. We’d a hard time just trying to catch the waitress telling us the day’s specials. It was hard to hold a decent conversation.
The food was great, but the service was just terrible. We waited almost an hour for our main course and our waiter just shrugged and said, “I forgot to have them fire it.” No offer to bring out anything or comp anything. Refills on drinks were also slow, and their is a strange section strategy where the other waitresses wouldn’t help us, they just would just go tell our inattentive waiter we needed something, which he would then ignore. It’s too bad, the ambience and food are quite good, but there are too many other places to eat with better service.
Reliably excellent food and service. The salads are always imaginative and the lamb burger and steak frite just right. Service attentive, pleasant and non intrusive. We come here regularly and like it. Noise level a little higher than usual which made dinner conversation a challenge.
Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and was gracious in allowing us time to to decide. The Sommelier did an excellent job of recommending various wines that would pair nicely without food choices. Food service was very good and allowed enough time to enjoy our meal. The food was delicious. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.
