Bastille & Back Bar
For me this is not a french restaurant - there are some french elements in the menu but it isn't typical french menu. I lived in France for several years so I can tell now that I know a little bit French kitchen.
Good food, but nothing special. High prices.
Something positive - a nice atmosphere, good service and a good wine selection.
Gorgeous interior and outstanding food and service. We went for a birthday dinner and will definitely return!
We always have a great experience at Bastille. Food is absolutely wonderful and service is impeccable. Highly recommend getting reservations.
Kitchen very slow
Great food and service but it was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk.
Restaurant was super loud, overcrowded so ambience was not ideal. The server was great and knowledgeable however too busy so the service was on the slow side. Food was good but didn’t blow our minds.
We had a nice evening. Most of us got the special and everyone loved it.
Great atmosphere and the food was delicious! Highly recommend for a date night.
I was lucky to find one of the last tables for us and our friends for New Years Eve dinner. Everything was great. I will definitely go back!
We arrived early for our 7:15pm reservation on New Years Eve, and was seated by 7:03pm.
Our server was engaging, with a great sense of humor, and quite knowledgeable about champagne and wine. We chatted about the Lobster Mafalde (excellent dinner choice!!) and the dessert menu!
I recommend Bastille 10/10!!
I would have given the restaurant 5 stars, except we were initially seated at the worst table in the restaurant, crammed into a claustrophobic corner, even though there were plenty of empty tables. I am hoping it is not because we are two senior women! We asked to move and were pleasantly accommodated. After that we had a great experience. The food and our waitress were terrific.
We were visiting our daughter for the holidays, she lives in Seattle . So happy we found Bastille for our Christmas Eve dinner, it was amazing. The food and service was outstanding. Can’t wait to recommend this place and come back! Highly recommend Bastille!
Always a friend/family favorite! Exceptional, friendly, knowledgeable service and consistent quality.
Great service for our party of 7 - friendly server and the drinks and food arrived promptly after we ordered. Food was delicious- highlights were the eggs benedict and the French toast. Drinks were great too, particular the Highlander Sour. We lingered a bit to chat after we finished our meal and we were given no pressure to leave. Very lovely time overall!
The food was amazing! Fresh & delicious. We have never had a bad meal. Both for brunch or dinner. The decor is hip & warming. The staff are friendly & very customer service oriented. One of my favorite French restaurants.
Birthday with husband. Large restaurant, great food and drinks. Very noise but ok for two to talk. Parking is limited and drove around a few times to find a spot that we paid for.
Had a great meal and fun evening with friends on a busy Friday night. Service was excellent as as the food and wine. Merlot wine flight was a hit.
The salads were incredibly well executed. The cassoulet was some of the best we have ever had. The lamb burger was perfectly done with a balanced sauce and crunchy pickled veggies. We ordered a split of champagne and when the server had trouble finding it, they gave us glasses of another champagne while the sommelier found our bottle to make sure we had a glass with our food. That is a Hallmark of excellent service.
Good food. Falafel meat was dry, but fries and burger were excellent. Great location and outside section and entertainment (sax and guitar) was excellent. I felt badly that the entertainment had a kids’ birthday in that section if they depend on tips - but who knows if a child was influenced by the jazz they were playing. Rachel provided amazing service.
Great service, wonderful ambience and delicious food. The only complaint was the sausage was cold.
The paté appetizer was generous and prices were much better than I remembered from a couple of previous visits. I had a Mediterranean entrée and it was delicious. We will go back more often.
This is my 5th visit to Bastille and the most disappointing. Our breakfasts (classic breakfasts) were over priced for what we got. We had cold potatoes. 2 eggs, 2 bacon and said cold potatoes for $14? No thank you.
The place was packed and why wouldn't it be on a holiday weekend Sunday, but service was so very slow.
Amazing food and outstanding service. Made for a special birthday celebration where one and all felt truly taken care of.
Excellent above and beyond service from Gelsey!
Always a great restaurant and this time again we were not disappointed.
As always, the reservation system worked well, and the food was great
Great first date place. Any date would be good there of course.
Excellent food and service. Cocktails were amazing! Nice to have a house wine option.
Nice room, busy Saturday night vibe. Food was surprisingly unimpressive as I'd heard great things. Service was adequate.
Service was slow. Frites we ordered for appetizer came last. Everyone's meal came out at a different time so last person served was eating alone. Very disappointing.
Bastille is a beautiful restaurant, it was really fun to grab dinner there. The happy hour prices are amazing, too, and are huge portions for the cost!
The chef is very inventive and uses herbs to highlight a dish (cilantro on mussels--and the mussels were huge!) Everything was delicious, and the meal was paced very well. Excellent service. If you're not familiar with the area, parking can be difficult.
Incredible food with homegrown items on the menu. Server was so apt and friendly my date wanted to make sure we write her a nice little note before we left.
If you are looking for great taste, terrific service, and either wine or beer parings this is where you want to go. I have eaten a lot of muscles in my life but theirs were the best muscles EVER! The frits were a good compliment. The oyster appetizer was fantastic. The profiteroles were out of this world and in an orbit of their own. Loved it and it is now on my favorites list.
I'd often noticed Bastille when walking through Ballard and the Restaurant Week special pulled me in. I chose to start with oysters, which came simple and icy. Next I had mussels in a coconut curry sauce--delicious, unusual, and a sauce that demanded to be sopped up with bread. I ended with a dessert of profiteroles. The service was exemplary and my waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. I'd definitely go back again, even without the special!
We have been many times before and have had an amazing experience. Tonight i think the kitchen was having issues which put pressure on the servers. The food was below par on all levels and partial
Portions arrived at the table at different times. In addition, the heat turned off while we were waiting for our meals. The sever tried their best to make everything tolerable. The heat issue was especially problematic because we had our one year old who was getting very cold.
It took quite a while to receive our food after ordering, but the roasted chicken was very good.
We had great service, outstanding food and a memorable anniversary celebration.
Sara is an amazing server and the sommelier was fabulous!
Have been to this restaurant twice - love the food, ambience and service!
