Bastille does not usually disappoint. This past weekend, however, it did. While the food was to the normal high standard, the noise was nearly unbearable. It was extremely difficult to hear each other speak. Our server was brusque to the point of rudeness. She was also quite inattentive. Hopefully, this is an aberration and not the wave of the future.
I had the steak fr. which was good but small portion for $38.
Food was good but our server was excellent! Knowledgeable about the menu, attentive without hovering and so very gracious.
Brunch at Bastille was unbelievable. We got eggs Benedict, steak frites, creamy polenta, and spätzle and everything was exceptional. Fantastic place with great service and atmosphere too.
Great food as always, but way too noisy for a romantic dinner.
We have always had great meals, great service and a wonderful time at Bastille.
Great food and service. We weren't rushed and enjoyed the meal.
Excellent food, great service, good drinks in wonderful Ballard area of Seattle.
Happy vibrant place. Excellent food. Wide variety and options. Excellent waitress.
Quality food and service in one place! I’ve been up in Seattle for two months now and this is the first place to really satisfy my foodie and wine drinking needs. After being spoiled in the Napa Valley for so long, it was nice to come across Bastille.
Looking forward to coming back.
The delicious moules frites, porfiterols and French 75 cocktail are the perfect combo! We had terrific service, and even though it gets very loud in there, my 94 year old mother still had a great time with me an my friends.
Love the bistro atmosphere. Food was delicious. Enjoyed the mussels and frittes. Service was perfect.
Great menu, great food, kinda loud though so conversation a little difficult. But we managed!
Bastille is a special pub-like restaurant with excellent service and very high quality food, featuring mostly locally sourced food items (especially their rooftop garden items). We loved the Zucchini starter -- pan fried with a paste of bread crumbs with a slight anchovy flavor. My Carbonara pasta had lots of wonderful chunks of bacon in a light cream sauce, and my spouses roasted chicken was very tasty.
The place was busy but our reservation was honored on time and we had a wonderful booth. The bar area is also great for drop-in dining.
Interesting location. Average food. Overpriced. For much better tapas at a more reasonable price try "Harvest Vine"
Food was great.
Hostesses were awesome.
Server was mediocre.
Great food and drinks. Rachel took excellent care of us!
Terrible experience. Starting with the Hostess Most unfriendly and we felt like a bother. Food was not great. Duck Confit was missing elements as described on the menu. Tough and dry on parts. Yikes. This place has fallen off a cliff. What happened to this place ? Used to be so much better.
The food was delicious! Highly recommend.
We went for Sunday breakfast, lovely experience. Well be back soon. Disappointed by salad had way too much salt by everyone who tasted it and potatoes were uneventful with a JoJo style cut and seasoning. The menu has several choices for all food loves taste with the falafel a nice surprise. Thank you for making it a destination spot.
The best steak frites I have ever had. Amazing salmon as well. Wonderful service, intimate atmosphere. Best date night restaurant.
Yummers I loved it it was much better than cats I’m going to go here again and again.
Its French theme gives Bastille classiness. The open side of the covered outside dining room keeps the air fresh and the echoes down. The staff was attentive and friendly. I enjoyed tasting three regional wines (two white, one red) but Bastille could easily offer instead three wines more suited to menu items, such as three red wines to accompany a red meat entree. The small range of menu dinners was disappointing. The menu provided no obvious information about calories, sodium, etc. My open-minded and Europe-experienced teen was disappointed by the beets entree. I didn't see a dessert cart; that would be a good addition. My party went instead to a gelato service down the street.
The restaurant is clean and good looking. The food was delicious. The server we had was exceptionally sweet. The service was slow. We enjoyed ourselves, taking our time with no rush.
I had reserved a table noting this was for my wife's birthday. We arrived early and sat at the bar. The bartender made my wife a French 75 which is now her favorite drink. After discussion on the beer glass sizes, I was told that the restaurant serves a "14 oz pint". The bartender did oblige me with a full pour however.
Dinner was Steak Frites for my wife and I opted for the "3 for $35". The 1st course was a salad and was crisp and well dressed. The 2nd course was Pasta Carbonara which was underwhelming. It appeared to be an appetizer size, not a dinner portion. My wife's steak was perfectly grilled and the frites were some of the best we have had. The dessert - I think was a blueberry torte - was dry. I "paired" the entree with a wine, which is a mistake. I would recommend pairing with all 3 courses ($18) or omit altogether.
Service was punctual and professional, but at the end I felt as if our waiter couldn't wait for us to leave and felt hurried to do so.
Overall, I would recommend this restaurant. ambiance is upscale, food is well prepared and service staff attentive.
I gave only 3 stars as no special mention was made to my wife on her birthday even though noted on the reservation, and the poor value of the "3 for $35".
Restaurant perfect in every way except for noise level.
This is one of my favorite restaurants ever! I go here every time i'm in Seattle. The flavors have never been anything short of exquisite. The service is just as good.
Solid food, decent service, lively atmosphere. Noise level pretty high.
Beautiful decor and exquisite food. Highly recommended!
Lives up to the hype. Truly fabulous food. Great cocktails. Lovely atmosphere.
Fantastic place. Friends and I had the lamb burger, mussels, duck confit, and grilled beef tongue. Not a single dish disappointed. Will definitely come back.
Tonight was Bastille Day, July 14th. Kind of a big deal in France. If you're not familiar, look it up. The band was awesome, the service (once seated) was stellar. If you have food allergies or sensitivities, say so no they can help a great deal. If peanuts are a no-no, don't eat here. I recommend the establishment for HH and wine tasting, too
The Bastille is our place to go. Always great service and super good food!
Amazing service! We ordered duck confit and king salmon. Both are very tasty. Also loved the ambience and live music. The only downside is they were out of mussels, which I really wanted to try. Overall is fantastic!
Excellent service. Our food took over 45 min to arrive but restaurant managers and our server apologized gracefully and gave us entrees and appetizers free of charge. We had never waited that long for food, but we had also never been treated so well.
We had a 7pm dinner reservation on a beautiful Saturday evening and were able to be seated outdoors. Once our server arrived at our table, the service was very good. The noise level was pretty high, which wasn't a big deal. What I didn't like is the family next to us allowing their kids to run around the restaurant as though it were a playground. It's disrespectful to the other diners. The food was excellent. My husband had a perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned steak, and I had the salmon. The wine selection was very good. We shared a crème brulee for dessert which was fantastic.
The food was amazing, a little pricey but about the same as a moderate special occasion restaurant. The waiter was very good and answered any questions we had about the foods. Actually getting our entree took some time. They were pretty busy. It was a bit noisy.
Pleasant setting on Ballard, simple but fun Parisian train station theme, unexpected dishes with excellent flavor, very good prix fix 3-course deal special with two very different alternatives. Attentive but not over-bearing service with a casual French back theme to it - in short, everything we like about dining in the Ballard district
Excellent and friendly, hospitable, welcoming. In peu de France!
I’ve been coming to Bastille since it opened in, what...about 2009?, and it’s been a go to place. Consistently good with great ambience and well done sums it up. Over the years the lamb burger has gone from pretty rubbish to rather good, and the falafel has gone from amazing to what I had last Friday...which was pretty rubbish. It used to be a wrap, full of falafel, and salad, and dressing, all tied together in some paper. But Friday was half a shop bought pita, with some wet stuff at the bottom and a a couple falafel balls in it. I asked the bartender about it and he said that it’s changed, and that there was nothing he could about it. All in all, weak food and weak service. Do me favor, please...make the falafel great again. Please.
