Here at Bashan we are please to offer you a delicious range of Hunanese dishes. Most of our dishes are based on recipes in Revolutionary Chinese Cookbook. According to local wisdom, it's vital to eat chillies to combat the dampness of Hunan climate and restore bodily harmony. They are also eaten to whet the appetite and liven up all kinds of dishes. The Hunanese like their chillies fresh, dried, ground or pickled, and have particular penchant for chopped scarlet chillies preserved in salt. Chilli heat is often combined with the sour taste of vinegar or pickled vegetables; or the rich savouriness of fermented black beans. But despite the popular sterotype, Hunanese food is not always fiendishly hot: it's also a region of soothing soups and stews, delicate stir-fries.

Delicious, high quality food and a great selection of dishes. Service is quick and helpful. Wine available by glass is nice and there is a much larger choice on the menu.

Bash an is a great Chinese restaurant. Service efficient and helpful, atmospheric with Chinese surroundings and I’m hoping to learn more about hunan cuisine with the fresh and very well flavoured food

if you love spicy Szechuan food, you'll love this place! A wide selection of old favourites plus some more interesting choices, all prepared perfectly. My pock-marked tofu came in a rich sauce which was almost numbing in spiciness (in a good way). My partner's soft shell crab was a generous portion with zingy vegetables, and the air dried green beans were a garlic-lover's dream

A bit overpriced for what it is. Service is a bit slow with general abruptness. Outright refused to help with charging my phone that was dying even though they had chargers, apparently it is against their policy to help customers with their phone charging. Never had such issues before in restaurants. Other Chinese restaurants priced cheaper and food is just as good.

I think I've visited Bashan more than 15 times by now. This is absolutely the best Chinese restaurant in London. The staff is always cordial and prompt. A bit cluttered when it's full with customers but the food takes you away all the time. Highly recommend!

Love the food -- the soft shell crab dish was amazing -- what a great experience with Hunanese cuisine in the middle of Central London. Will definitely come back.

Very fast service and the food was excellent. Made a change from your average Chinese restaurant. Much more authentic.
