We ate outside on their patio on a beautiful summer night during COVID, so that was very pleasant and there was plenty of room between tables. The wait staff all wore masks and were fairly careful about handling plates, etc. with their gloved hands. The menu has lots of variety and the appetizers -- sweet plantains and guacamole -- were great, and the cocktails were quite good. We all had arepas as our main course and they were a bit disappointing. Good but not great. And my yucca fries had been sitting around a while, so weren't terribly crisp or hot. I will go back and try some of the other main courses and sides and see if it is just a drink and nibbles kind of place for us, or a dinner stop.
The restaurant was closed. Highly disappointed that on Facebook they did not let people know of their closing nor did open table. We had to walk around in the heat to find another place to dine.
Loved outdoor patio with umbrella and appropriate social distance. Great mojitos, delicious guacamole and queso platter with plantains. Excellent tacos! Drinks delectable.
We were greeted with a welcome shot at the hostess stand. What a fantastic start! The food was delicious and the portions were large. Our server was patient and helpful. She explained the items and answered all of our questions. We would definitely go back again. And again.
Loved it! Great food, service and atmosphere. Will definitely return when there’s live music!
The food and drinks are amazing here!! Unlike most places, we ordered pina coladas and you could tell that they weren’t made with a creepy flavored syrup, they used real coconut milk and pineapple juice, delicious. The arepas were excellent and the pupusas were over-the-top (especially loved the braised beef😋) a must have side dish are the meduras for a touch of sweetness!!
The food was really tasteless and bland. The meat was chewy although nicely presented. The table was broken, the chairs were uncomfortable and we were crammed on top of each other. The live music was great but the artist was so grumpy.
We had a wonderful brunch. The menu is not vast for Sunday brunch, but it's diverse enough that just about anyone will be happy. The food is delicious. The cocktails are great, too. Service can be slow, which is okay if you're enjoying a leisurely meal. Make a reservation or get there close to 11 a.m., when it opens.
Great ambiance especially when there is live music. Main dishes are very boring. Better to get plantains, arepas and/or appetizers. Very very slow bar service. Received my second drink after desert was done.
The food was great and the service was awesome! They have the best pina coladas that we have had thus far in our clubs 26 year dining history. Our waitress was very attentive.
Excellent food and service. Atmosphere is outstanding. Great place
We randomly picked this restaurant because we had orchestra tickets, and it’s nearby. What a great experience!!! As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with a complimentary shot of tequila. The vibe, the service, the food, and the conviviality were top notch!! We found a new favorite!
Excellent service, excellent food!!!
Inside is crazy noisy. Not pleasant and not conducive to any conversation. The patio was great. Food is fantastic. Service was problematic but I think that was our particular server, not the venue in general. Will definitely go back
This place was amazing!! Loved everything about it!
Great addition to the CLE food scene!!!!
Great place with great live music and great staff. When you come in, go straight to the bar, the have lime carving with tequila shot (and good tequila, not your bottom shelf kind). As there were 4 people in our party, we were able to try few things: guacamole (good), Colombian plantain soup (very good), Arepa with braised beef (very good, I would have rated it excellent but the dough was very thick and got a bit chewy (and that's why I gave it 4 stars)) with yuca fries, pulled chicken from the grill (didn't try it but my friend said it was very good). We had a birthday in our party so they brought out flan with 'fireworks' and singing and it was awesome. Great joint, highly recommend it. Oh, they gave a great patio! (but we chose to sit inside to be closer to live music). Definitely will be back!
We were seated immediately. The Service was excellent and our waitress was very knowledgeful and helpful.
Not to be missed authentic Colombian food!
Great food. Attentive and friendly service. I'll be back next time I'm in Cleveland.
Great food! A lot of fun. They don’t need the music so loud. There is already a sense of fun and excitement. Would rather not have to shout across the table.
Server was very helpful in sharing info on Columbian food.
Lot’s of fun with the entire team. Good happy hour specials (Drinks and apps). However, the food was wonderful and different which something I think we all love. I will certainly be back and this is going in the top ten!
Amazing! Great service, great food, and great drinks! Arepas are amazing, and we really loved the plantains as well (tostones and maduros were delicious). Highly recommend the coconut mojito and the pina colada. Sebastian was our server and he was great! His recommendations were super helpful because we had never tried Colombian food before.
Celebrated my birthday with friends at Barroco and had such a great time! Loved the live music and the food was delish.
My daughter chose Barroco to celebrate her 21st birthday with her friends and me (5 of us in total). We all loved the atmosphere, food, drinks, and the "birthday" merengada (an ice cream dessert--ours had a brownie, cookies, and Oreos). We had told the waitress we were celebrating my daughter's birthday and they put a large "sparkler" in it (we had ordered one to share) and had the staff sing happy birthday when they brought it to our table.
We ordered the guacamole appetizer--it came with corn chips and large fried plantains. After we ordered the appetizer, our waitress brought over 5 sauces and told us what each one was. We used the sauces on our fried plantains--all of the sauces were very good. One of my daughter's friends, who has a fairly good appetite, was concerned that the arepa would not be enough food. She found the meal to be more than enough (she took part of it home).
I highly recommend this restaurant.
Sat on the outdoor patio. Food was loaded with carbs but delicious. Pina coladas and sangrias were great.
Fun new experience...interesting food, nice live music. Seating is very tight, cold fan blowing on us and very bad acoustics so difficult to carry on a conversation. Appreciated a new cuisine to try but don’t think I’ll return.
Our server was wonderful and friendly. He gave great recommendations on what to order. The arepas are delicious, if you have not tried one, you must! This is definitely a good spot to visit for authentic food, and the ambiance is awesome!
Delicious , friendly, loved it!!! Will love to come back with more family
This is one of our favorite places to eat. The food and drinks are consistently flavorful and delicious, and the atmosphere is always fun and lively. During our recent visit, they had live music, and it made the evening extra special (although the noise level interfered with conversation at times). Already looking forward to our next visit!
We were a group of four so we ordered a bunch of food and shared!! We started with empanadas that were so good and came with 5 different dipping sauce choices; I loved the spicy ranchero & chimichurri!! We also had a meal made of pulled pork on tortillas made with smashed plantains. My husbad was all over those! My favorite food of the night were the 3 pupusas!! They were corn tortillas filled with soft cheese and each had a different topping. The two I liked the most were one with braised beef and another that had plantains with black beans and sour cream. We also ordered a bowl of cazuela de frijoles that was incredible but way too filling to eat with all the other dishes. I was thrilled to have it for lunch the next day!!!
Met with friends and had a delicious meal. They had a live band that night with people dancing which added to the overall experience albeit probably was a little louder in there than usual. We'll be back. First time at the Larchmere location after having visited the Madison Lakewood location several times in the past.
Food was excellent and the decor is fun. 3 of us were squeezed at a table ideally suited for 2, but we made it work. I would say this would have been 5/5 had our server been more attentive, but we will go back. The food is unlike anything I've had before - a must try!
Café Barroco is a wonderful Cleveland family-owned restaurant. A favorite!
Birthday. They sang but didn’t do what they did for everyone else. We had a great time with the live music.
Great local spot. Nice atmosphere. Food is unique - very good and expansive options. Friend got burger and said it was excellent. I have gotten the areppa's and they are very good. It is loud, but that is part of the atmosphere
Went to Barroco on a Friday night. My companions were running very late but the waitress was very attentive And friendly to me even when I was sitting there by myself. I had the 3 papusas and it was delicious! More than enough for one meal. The live music is always an added bonus there. Sometimes it gets a little noisy for me but it was actually quite nice the last time I was there. Highly recommended!
We ordered apps and dinner and after one hour we had not received either. After inquiring, we received both at the same time. Managment recognized the issue and didn’t charge us for the apps. The food tasted good but was not warm enough. All and all a big disappointment.
