Reservation was easy and we were seated quickly. Food about 20 minutes to be delivered and my husband recd his meal an easy 10 minutes before mine.. I ordered pear salad with the added chicken but wrong salad was delivered. After about five minutes, I found a waiter to find ours( waiter stated he put the wrong order In)A salad came quickly but easy to see it was quickly thrown together when I noticed a patron at another table who ordered the same salad and it was larger with a better presentation . Our waiter did not ask if we wanted additional drinks until we flagged him down. I may give this restaurant another try as friends have enjoyed it but this was not a good first impression
Good dinner at the bar. Nice to have a good meal near my hotel
We came after Walnut Street Theater and had reservations for 5:00 but the show was over at 4:00. Several different parties all came in with the same issue and we were all gracefully seated. Service was excellent. Food was good but not exceptional All in in, it was a pleasant meal and I will go back again
My husband and I tried this before the Walnut street theater matinee. Very close and excellent lunch before the show. The hostess gave a very friendly greeting and information about the local area. Our server was attentive and the atmosphere very pleasant. Will definitely return if the opportunity presents itself.
Beautiful setting , even though the food took awhile, and me and my girlfriend were hungry; it was worth the wait. When the food came, we were surly pleased.
Food was great, service was a bit slow but tolerable.
Our server, Jack, was terrific. We had a great meal. Ideal for a pre-theater dinner.
My only complaint is that the dessert - pecan pie was 12.00 - which to me is exorbant for a desset, and the dessert was VERY small for the price - and no whipped cream or
presentation at all.
food, service and ambiance were great. nice place to have dinner after a matinee at the walnut theater
Great food great atmosphere
It's always a pleasure dining here.
Great service - Good food.
Highly recommend !!!!
My husband and I chose the restaurant for a casual business lunch with his coworkers.
The place is very cozy, quiet, and pretty. The food is delicious and the service was great! Highly recommend!
Food was great and service was fantastic. Went for lunch and was able to eat comfortably and be back at work on time.
WHAT A JOKE!
THE ONLINE PHOTOS OF THE RESTAURANT ARE A LIE!
Clearly from a COMPLETELY different restaurant!
I made reservations on open table specifically for a table,
(it asked me to make a selection) NOT A BAR TOP TABLE!
When I was seated I was led to a bar top table. When I complained to the host, he asked me how I made the reservation. When I told him through open table, he told me that I should have called the restaurant directly. There were clearly other empty regular tables available! The host told me that he would change our seating.
A HALF HOUR LATER, when I asked him when we were going to change our table, he said “oh I didn’t know if you wanted me to change your table because you walked away.” !!!!!
I had walked away so I wouldn’t blow my top because of his lame excuse!
Nothing like taking care of the customer!
Also a large moldy stain on the ceiling directly above our bar top table!
FINALLY got moved to one of the three empty regular empty tables.
I ordered the shrimp scampi which was passable.
Chocolate cake for dessert was good.
Wait staff was adequate. Find someplace else!
Our server was excellent! Food was great! Portions were big, prices were very fair.
All in all it was a great dining experience!
The wait staff was clearly understaffed but handled It amazingly well
One observation: This was not only our table but I noticed two others as well - the meal is being delivered before the guest have even finished their salads. The speed of service it amazing, but I think the wait staff should observe and allow for one course to be completed before the next course is served.
Otherwise, everything else was excellent and food delicious
It’s one of our go-to places for dinner before the theater. Food and prices are great, and the service is fantastic!
The food was excellent and so was our waitstaff. I cannot wait to go again! I highly recommend.
Everything was wonderful, food, service and all the staff
Delicious! The baked ziti was excellent! And our waiter was extremely friendly and attentive. If I lived in Philly this would be my go to place.
We had an excellant waiter and the food was good. Our only problem was getting into the restaurant. Even though we had reservations, we had to wait almost 15 minutes to get into the restaurant. Our table was there, but they should have taken people that had reservations first before walk-ups.
Absolute joke..they didn’t honor our reservation and said you may want to find another restaurant if you want to make the show on time
Excellent food and very prompt & attentive service. I little pricy but standard for center city. Will return again
Our food was typical Italian fare done very well and very tasty. The restaurant is on the small side and was full on a Wednesday night. As a result it was very noisy. The service was good and we were able to make it to our show with no difficulty.
We had a very good dinner at this restaurant before going to the theater to see beehive. Even though the restaurant was a little understaffed as most are these days our waiter did a great job and getting the food and drink to us on a timely manner. We got to the show on time and we will definitely be going back to this restaurant.
Kind of really annoyed. We go there for years on the evenings that we go to walnut st theater. Now I know that there are short staffing issues and I’m ok with that and totally understand. But, I called in for a reservation as usual. I was running a little behind (5minutes) and thought I would give the hostess a heads up. She assured me that my table was ready and waiting we got there and were informed that our table was not ready, had never been ready and I’m not sure if they even looked. I was meeting a friend there who told them she was with us~she arrive at 6 and there were no tables. In fact, there were 2 tables seated that had no reservation. As it turned out my 6:15 reservation turned into a seating at 7:20. Asked for a drink while we waited and were told that would be a no. Well, we were lucky to scarf down an app and was late for our show. Ugh!
Quick business meeting over lunch. Venue was concussive for this and the service kept us in our allotted meeting time. Food was very good as well.
Our first time, but not our last! Outstanding food and stellar service.
Service was very slow and one meal never came. Waitress was very attentive but seemed to be low in other staff and we waited quite a while for drinks and then our meal. Have been here many times before but this experience left us less than satisfied
Very acceptable prior to theatre.
Food good service good prices good
Wish our water glasses were refilled. Entree was a bit dry and the issue was solved immediately. Enjoyed our meal.
On a visit in Philadelphia for a few days. Had dinner with my mother and son. Hostess seem overwhelmed. Our waiter was ok at best. Food was mediocre at best.
The staff was amazing but they were completely understaffed. One hostess, on bartender and 2 servers. The bartender had to wait on us because there was no one else. The staff that they had were completely overworked. The Theatre is right there and they had the 4 pm rush. We had a reservation but still have to wait 20 minutes because there was no help. I felt awful for them. The owners need to have this place staffed or they shouldn't take reservations.
I have Celiac disease and ordered a gluten-free dinner but was served a meal with gluten. I wouldn't have known if someone in my party hadn't asked the waiter to confirm that my dish was gluten-free. While it took an hour(!) for our meals to come out, the replacement gluten-free meal comically took about three minutes. The pasta was, unfortunately, beyond overcooked -- and it was my backup meal of choice, because I was at Barra Rossa in the first place so I could try their vegan gluten-free pizza, but they were out of vegan pizza cheese. Our waiter was very kind and apologized for these mishaps, but I expected a LOT more from my dining experience. It took 15 minutes for our drink orders to even get taken, and the waiter explained that away by telling us he had been busy making desserts. The service only declined from there. Any kind of gesture from the restaurant would have been gratefully appreciated, but they seemed to take our satisfaction for granted because we had several glasses of wine. Oh, and this was my 30th birthday dinner. Very disappointing.
Chicken abruzzi was to die for!
Husbands scampi delish and the orangecello fantastic !
Christian was an amazing waiter!!!
We had a great dinner here before a show at the Walnut Street Theater. Awesome service, great ambiance and delicious food and drinks. We will definitely be back!
The service was outstanding. Our server was awesome Food was very good and reasonably priced.
