   The meal and service was great. Our only disappointment was that we had to ask for someone to serve us after we had been seated over 20 minutes. The server that took over was great.

   Mediocre food and service. Way overpriced for the quantity and quality of food we received. Our service was delayed and we ended up canceling food because it was taking so long .

   New to Austin - made a reservation and thankful we did. We had an amazing time. Great food, great atmosphere and environment!

   Service a bit slow but loved the food except for the paella which was overcooked and dry.

   Disappointing compared to other visits at brunch. The Hortelana paella was relatively meager, not well seasoned (salt), and altogether lacked the flavor we've come to expect and enjoy from our other visits. This, combined with changes to the menu, particularly the further reduced brunch menu, even made us question of the restaurant had a new chef or owner? It's a shame because we were introducing a couple of friends to Barlata today as one of our favorite brunch places in town!

   My wife and I were greeted warmly and provided an excellent booth. We love tapas and Barlata did not disappoint. The octopus & potato - lata de pulpu, croquetas, Gambas al ajilio (sautéed shrimp) and finally paella barlata was authentic down to the way the rice is slightly burned to the pan. Desert was Spanish cheesecake and crema catalana were very good. Service was exceptional and we were never rushed.

   Since my wife if from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain we took our family for tapas and sherry during International Sherry Week. So glad to see Barlata was one of several restaurants in USA to celebrate sherry. My wife and I have been to many, many Spanish restaurants in USA, but this is by far the most authentic. Must try tapas include: gambas al ajillo; croquetas; patatas bravas (my favorite) and of course jamon Iberico. There are many more items to choose from and a great wine list. Also excellent desserts and a good selection of sherry. The owners are from Barcelona and Madrid so you know everything is authentic. My family eats here several times per year. Highly recommend for excellent Spanish food.
