We had a great time and the server was GREAT, I will go back and I will recommend this to friends...

I always feel like I’m in the West Village in the 80’s when I eat at Barbette’s. A good vibe, great for, and personable waiters.
I am a fan of all the Bartmann restaurants, and have been coming to Barbette for over a decade, so it pains me to say this. I am extremely disappointed with the service we received last night. "House" wine should never be $15 a glass, but that's what I was served - to the tune of $90 total for our party. I wasn't about to ruin our evening by making a stink about it. But I'm also not planning on returning. What a terrible end to an otherwise enjoyable evening. Shame on your staff.
I like the atmosphere and decor - it's colorful and cozy. Service was very friendly and helpful. I was a little annoyed at the small portion of fruit salad for $6 - maybe I expect too much but for that amount of money it should have been a little bit more. It was fresh and tasty, though.
Birthday dinner, loud atmosphere, could only talk to person next to you. Dirty, disgusting bathroom, urinals overflowing, wet floor, paper towel mess. Waiter not knowledgeable and VERY slow with everything. Some food came out cold after waiting a very long time. Some items were a good value, (chicken dinner) others not so much (steak, crab ravioli). I would not come back for dinner. Will stick with happy hour cheese plate and wine!
Overall, a nice restaurant - some dishes (appetizers) were amazing, others were just good (salmon was a little overdone, probably because it was a thinner filet). We will return.
This was my first time visiting Barbette. Everything was great, but I think the service was the best part. Our waiter was knowledgeable, kind, attentive, and fun.
I like the ambience and this place has been a favorite of mine. But this time my wife and I were disappointed with the food. Her squash risotto was over powered with garlic and my frites were soggy and too salty. I will likely returnbut another strike out and I am gone.
Wait staff very professional and knowledgeable. Paid good attention to us yet was not overbearing. Cheese plate excellent. Good Portuguese red wine, very robust, and a good sweet Riesling. Rutabaga with spinach and orange vinaigrette was spectacular. Steak Au poivre, the small cut was excellent but in the case of my companion was over- peppered. Can’t understand why 2 steaks prepared at same time using same method could vary so. Atmosphere lively but no shrieking diners. We could hear each other. I would return any time, and will.
