It was my second time in a week to dine here. Amazing. If you go for lunch have the bruschetta no matter! At dinner have the Humboldt For cheese with wine soaked cherries! Yum
New and wonderful.
Everything was amazing, chicken liver, olives, salumi, bolognese, octopus, beets. Service was swift and attentive. Negronis were great too.
I usually really enjoy this restaurant and have come here often and brought others. But the pasta night special that they had this month once was terrible.
This was my first time coming specifically for this special and I was so disappointed and embarrassed that I had hyped it up to my friend.
Undercooked, bland, uninteresting. Very surprising. We were so engrossed in our conversation and hungry that we couldn’t be bothered with complaining or ordering something else. But it has me seriously second guessing returning. I don’t live locally anymore so it was even more annoying to have made the trek across the gg bridge for that.
Started with octopus, perfectly prepared and served, very good main courses, superb service
Our food was exceptional and server was terrific.
management and wait staff very professional and kind. Thoughtful and patient- were able to move us from bar to table and were most helpful.
The octopus was really good! But I can’t say the same with the rest of the food. I ordered the saffron pasta it was way too salty.. tasted like sea water. Then it got replaced by the risotto but that was tasteless. Not going back.
Made a reservation and they told us they were waiting on people to get up. They were there for over 3 hours! We had to squeeze into a small table for 5 people. Not that great
The server double checked our 2 item order but still delivered the wrong pasta. The pasta we did have was very good but not what we ordered.
Haven't been there in years but was underwhelmed and found it noisy and quite ordinary.
Good for everyday, not so good for special occasions due to noise level.
Slow server when we were done with service. Felt like an ignored school kid who was raising their hand.
We were very disappointed. Food wasn’t very special at all. We were expecting way more. We have been dining at some very good spots and this place did not stand out at all. There was nothing to ‘aww’ about. So many better places to spend our money. We are from out of the country and we’re on s foodie vacation.
They brought the food out quickly and were very accommodating when I asked to be seated at a table instead of at the bar despite them being packed for lunch. Excellent service!
This was our third evening at Barbacco. Once again, each dish was delicious, and our service was warm, friendly and informative. Great wine, great food, casual ambiance, always a great evening at Barbacco!
We've been going to this restaurant since its inception, and it's consistently very good. We enjoy the charcuterie/salumi, the pasta, Polpette/pork meatballs. Our server introduced us to a recent red wine addition to the menu, Torraccia Gattinara (Nebbiolo), of which we thoroughly enjoyed. However, we also ordered a green salad with beets (to share) but it was so small (we each got about 4-5 little leaves) that one of us immediately remarked about it. As a result our server was kind enough to take it off our bill. Overall, a very pleasant experience, and we'll return.
Great food, great value, poor service from waiter. Would return without question, but hope to get a different waiter.
Excellent food, attentive but not intrusive service; I was lucky enough to sit at the bar and watch the pastry chef at work, then enjoy her craft. I'd go again in a minute; top of my list for my next trip to San Francisco.
Gracious service, serious Italian food, and the best value adjoining costly neighbors (Michael Minna, Tadich Grill, Perbacco). Two blocks from Loew’s Regency Hotel (The Mandarin, updated). Menu omissions: non-alcoholic beer, tiramisu.
The food and service were outstanding. The restaurant was lively. Surprised/disappointed to be seated at a bar, since we made reservations. Overall a great food experience and I would return.
One of our "go to" dining spots in the financial district. Casual sister restaurant to Perbacco next door. Food well prepared and good Italian wine selection. Wait staff always dependable and attentive. Good value.
Great for after work. Delicious pastas and other shared plates.
I have been here many times and have never been disappointed with the food, service and price.
Excellent restaurant when you find yourself in the financial district. Food is excellent but atmosphere is not pretentious. You can be dressed to kill or be casual in jeans in a shirt. Everyone is welcome and everyone looks like they are having a good time. Wine selection is European with a focus on Italian wines from all over the region.
We had a lovely lunch and really enjoyed several dishes. We started with the Burrata and Caponata which was great. Creamy cheese, perfectly grilled bread and flavorful Caponata. Our favorite dish was the spinach rigatoni with lamb ragu. So delicious! The following dishes weren’t as good. The meatballs were tasty but tough , and there was something off with the pork Scallopini. There was an unpleasant bitter undertone. The dessert was remarkably tasty. Butterscotch panna cotta with crispy crumbly toppings and candies kumquats, really good. The service was impeccable. Overall a very enjoyable lunch!
We had a great Business Lunch at Barbacco. The food and service were wonderful, and we look forward to coming back again soon.
Delicious food, great prices and great service. I’ll be back
Super popular - packed and beyond loud. Had a 12:30 lunch reservation and at 12:45 was offered seating at the counter. Was told that the possibility of counter seating is in the fine print on Open Table when making a reservation. It's not. We asked to be seated at a table and were asked to wait another 10-15 minutes. Bye-bye. Tadich was able to seat us in minutes. Had a wonderful lunch at a nice table.

Tables are to close to each other. Lady next to me sneezed on my bread. Not a restaurant for a romantic date. Excellent service and friendly staff.
The trout is excellent. Enjoy the orecchiette, a signature dish. Food is delicious and recommend. Noisy but if the table next to you is not loud you will be able to hear yourself.
New Year's Eve so energetic atmosphere. Enjoyed eating at the counter with wife.
The food was very good and the wait staff was amazing. The only problem that I did not like was for a party of 2 you are required to sit at the bar. We had reservations and this was not disclosed at the time of the reservation. I would hesitate to go to this restaurant again if I want an intimate dining experience.
We came to Barbacco for dinner since we wanted some Italian food and were staying in the SOMA/Financial District area. The service was great, but the tables were placed really closely to one another, so it felt like you were eavesdropping on the tables next to you. The food came out surprisingly quickly and overall the dishes were tasty but nothing spectacular. We ordered the pear and endive salad, three pasta dishes (orecchiette, risotto, bolognese), meatballs (polpette) and the fried Brussels sprouts. The pasta was okay - good flavors but nothing out of the ordinary. The meatballs were tasty, and the fried Brussels sprouts were quite good. Overall, would recommend Barbacco as a quick bite if you're in the mood for Italian in the Financial District.
Love barbacco. We sat at the bar and were able to have a nice quiet conversation over some exceptional food. Servings are large so sharing is a great idea and a good way to try more than one plate. If you like salami, try the multi-salami plate apetizer. AMAZING!
The service and food are top notch! Lunch is affordably priced especially with the quality. Love dining here.
Went for the charcuterie but was not impressed. Have been to Perbaco for much better experience. Only wine and beer, no liquor. Had to send back 2 entrees because of saltiness, turned out it was the Pecerino cheese WOW!! Not a good outing, won't be back.
Our family of 4 had a delicious meal. Our kids tried the octopus. We all loved it. We were in SF over the xmas holiday.
Terrific lunch in a fun, hip atmosphere.
Excellent trout. Well prepared and presented. $20.
Barbacco offers steamed persimmon pudding, which is in season.
Delicious and beautifully presented.
The food and service is always consistent. Cannot go wrong.
