While the reataurant is lovely and the service was wonderful the food was not good! We started with calamari which was ok, pretty average standard Calamari! The. Our main courses arrived and not only was my husband extremely disappointed with his dish as he ordered rigatoni with sausage expecting actually pieces of Italian sausage not ground up meat like a standard meat sauce! Additionally the rigatoni pasta wa broken into pieces not round like rigatoni is supposed to be! He probably ate 4 bites and said “I’m done”! I ordered the special cod dish which the first bite was tasty until I realized the fish was breaded - I tried eating under the breading but ended up also only eating a small amount! I had also asked for pasta instead of risotto but was told they do not substitute (another well know Italian restaurant we frequent will basically make us anything we ask for deviating from the menu - this is where we will go the next time we want Italian)! We asked for the leftovers to go but promptly threw them Out when we returned home! We will not be dining here again!

We use too love ILBarone, the place is nothing like it use to be. The ambience is a cheap drive bar now! The pizza was sloppy and the cake was a bit stale. The salad was very good. We purchased cracker for 8.00 and we gave the waiter a 10.00 and he never offered back our change. He just shook my husband’s hand. We had already paid and gave him a tip. This was not proper. We will not be going back. Very sad to what happened to IL Barone.🥲

Most authentic Italian food around. Donatella and the staff are always so warm and welcoming. The waitstaff always describe the menu items with so much passion, we feel like we're back in Italy. Our "go to" Italian restaurant.

A comfortable bar area with large windows into the kitchen create a casual and fun atmosphere. The bread is homemade, and the food meets the high standards we've come to expect from a Barone restaurant. We'll be back.

Food was excellent as was the service. Bar is awesome. Much better location than the old Coco's on Bristol. Il Barone was a favorite of ours in the past when it is was in the old Quilted Peacock location and it is nice to see them back in the current iteration after Covid has played havoc with so many popular local restaurants.

July 7 2023 - First time dining here and we loved it. The service was wonderful, the food was delicious and it was a nice place for a date. Full disclosure we were there during a long holiday week so I believe it was quieter then usual. My favorite parts was the espresso martini and Nutella cheesecake.

First time here, had an early dinner before going over to Segerstrom. We decided to try the chef’s table experience & the food did not disappoint. Homemade pasta, high quality sauces from scratch, seafood crudo, perfectly cooked steak & Italian donut to wrap up the evening. Note that the interior gives the impression that the evening will be casual & quick service quality food, but don’t let first impressions deceive you. The quality of food put out by this Italian family run restaurant is worthy of a white table cloth environment. Looking forward to returning here soon!

This is the BEST Italian food in OC!! Pasta is perfectly al dente, lasagna is perfect, fish is always fresh. When you come here you feel like part of the family. Don’t let the quiet place fool you, the food will keep bring you back again and again. Go for the hi girly specials, you won’t regret it.

We love coming here … the most difficult decisions are usually reviving about which of the specials we would like to order. It’s almost impossible and with a full “regular” menu you will certainly be able to find something you’d like. Great service … every time

Dined here last night, absolutely fantastic. One of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to. The chefs came out and spoke to people about their wonderful dishes. Wine list is impressive as well. So glad we found this place.

First review of any kind. I was compelled to write how poor of an experience we had at this restaurant. I came here to have a birthday lunch with a friend. The food was atrocious and to add insult to injury, the price was unjustifiable. I had a prosciutto type topped pizza (cold and soggy) and my friend the Wild boar stew (resembling something out of a can) neither one of us ate more than a third. Asked if we wanted bread - had no idea that 4 pieces of garlic bread would be $15. The only edible item was the calamari appetizer at $21. With two iced teas the bill came to $113 before tip - shocking. This was the old BossCat restaurant that was typically bustling - today there was just a handful of people (appears the people have spoken). The poor quality food, outrageous pricing, and mediocre service and atmosphere equates to a failed experience. I'm sorry for being so uncharacteristically harsh, but this is a restaurant that I will not be revisiting and, if asked, advising others to go elsewhere.

One of my favorite restaurants and it is so nice and hip and classy people enjoying friends and loved ones! The bar area is always my preference. It has a nice vibe, service is awesome and most importantly, the food is delicious! I have tried salads, pizza, appetizers, veal, chicken, and the pasta!
