A fantastic time. Great food: lamb chops, pasta with nuts, and sea bass crudo. With plenty of hard cider. Super service - an all around friendly and professional crew. And if you need to shop for your next dinner, Whole Foods is a block away!
I am a picky eater mainly because my husband is a fantastic cook. We picked this place based off solid reviews online and a recommendation from a friend. We LOVED it. The crudo was absolutely delicious. Also the spanish octopus was out of this world and we've tried octopus at every boston restaurant. Drinks were great and the service was fantastic. We were extremely pleased and we will come back again. All of our food was fantastic. We love small plates and freshseafood but also a mix of italian. It was great!!!!
Very nice ambiance, although a little bit noisy. Ask for an external table with friends (reservation is recommended). Must try the pasta with lobster!
Staff bumped into me at least 6 times, apologized for half of them. Mozzarella was the WORST we have ever tasted. Too firm and absolutely tasteless. One main dish was lukewarm, at best. Finally, the dessert crostata was so crisp that it could not be cut. Overall, a very poor showing....and not cheap.
We came here for a birthday dinner and had a great time. Our waitress was drama free and very helpful. She always appeared when we needed her, and she had opinions when we asked for them, which we like. Unlike some restaurants, we weren't constantly attempting to flag down a waitress or having to listen to hemming and hawing. The kitchen seems to be well-organized and efficient. We especially enjoyed the crudo (yellow fin) and octopus. The orrecchiette with sausage etc. was too salty and a bit too greasy. The chicken under a brick was excellent. Chicken isn't just for eating at home any more. The wine list takes some getting used to - there are some gems in there but not the usual items, which is a good thing. This is one of those places you need to visit more than once to get the hang of it. I look forward to our next trip.
From when they first opened to dining several years later the food and drink here is always impressive and well done. This place is always a solid bet and a great spot to bring people to impress. The snack, crudo, and small plate menu changes over enough to keep returning customers excited about new items and the staples are always there to please. So excited they are opening a new place for me to eat across the street!
We went to brunch just to have the soft scrambled eggs with caviar and Boursin, which is amazing, but the eggs Benedict was probably the best we’ve ever had. And we’ve had a lot!
Cool atmosphere with different takes on Italian food. Great experience
Food was creative and well executed. Service did not meet standards expected for a restaurant of this price point.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in town. The food and wine are amazing every single time we’ve been in for dinner, and the service is outstanding. We took my parents here Saturday night, and once again, they did not disappoint. Every dish we ordered (and there were many) was delicious, with inventive details that tied the whole meal together. I would recommend this to place to everyone I know.
Anniversary dinner. Can’t wait to return. It was a fabulous experience
Phenomenal and varied cocktails, generous portions of high quality seafood (go for the lobster paccheri, wow!), beautiful and understated design.
Decided at last minute to dine here. A great choice! The wine list is very eclectic; Although I collect wine, there were many types I have never tried. And bot the bartender and our waitress were very knowledgable and helpful with our choices. The food was outstanding. The chicken was among the best I have ever tasted, and my wife's pasta was slightly spicy and delicious. We got there early, since we have a relatively long driver home, but the dining room filled up quickly. We have already begun to recruit friends to return with us.
The prosciutto and homemade mozzarella were to die for! Will definitely be back!
Food was very good and the waiter was very friendly and helpful, but we had to wait a long time for our meals and it was hard to have a conversation because of the noise level.
Good but not great.
Great drinks appetizers and entrees plus dessert was excellent
We had an excellent meal the other night. Service was fun and knowledgeable. Everything was great from the first bite of salty-sweet figs to the last bite of grapefruit gelato.
We chose to sit outside, and it was a good move. Conversation was easy and the temperature was comfortable (inside was very chilly).
LOVED the "1794" cocktail (tasted like a Rusty Nail, but with a pleasant fruitiness). Food was fresh and well-prepared.
Fun time all around.
Amazing food and service! Will definitely be returning again soon!
Absolutely loved this place. Get the Orecchiette and the Lobster pasta. they wont disappoint.
Each dish we had was very tasty, especially the tomato bruschetta.
Beautiful venue, great looking menu, but slow service and not great food
All we can say is WOW!!! Bar Mezzana is a jewel in the Crown of Boston's Dinning Crown!
Beautiful space, incredibly nice staff, creative cocktails, Amazing Food, Hip Bar Scene, Fresh ingredients, Comfortable and Valet Parking most nights!!
We love this restaurant and the people who make it so special.
Crudos, Crostinis, Pastas, Fish, Little Bites, Salads etc. are all perfect.
It can be hard to choose and easy to go overboard so pace yourself and order in stages!
Have fun and say "Hello" to the gang from Erica!
FYI I suggest making rezees :)
Excellent meal. Lobster pasta was fantastic- lobster flavor permeated the sauce as well as large pieces of lobster in the dish. My wife and I shared that dish and then each enjoyed a main - striped bass and hangar steak - both excellent. Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable.
Anything you order here is delicious!!
Always a great experience!!!
Highly recommend the 'family style' option - gave us a tasting across the crudo, appetizer, pasta and entree sections of the menu. Very cool atmosphere with open air kitchen and our server was outstanding. Can't forget the delicious cocktails. We will be back!
Stick with seafood. Pork was very dry. Bone in crudo. Staff is awesome.
Really good small plate options and delicious pastas.
We have been to the restaurant many times and always had great meals. However, last night’s meal was sub par. The octopus dish was mainly beans with a few pieces of octopus. The striped bass was overcooked and rather bland and the tomato broth it was cooked in was also meh.
We sat outside and had a great dinner. Inside was very noisy. Food was inventive and delicious. Wine choices were good. We have eaten here many times and have not been disappointed. But I would only want to eat here if I could sit outside.
Fantastic food, very friendly staff, wonderful atmosphere.
Hands-down the best restaurant in Boston - thank you for yet another incredible night! :)
I love how the menu changes with the seasons- great service and wonderful owners.
Always consistently outstanding food and service !
Love this place - great food, great selection, great space, great peeps.
Sat at the bar. Lovely food, good wine selection, and great ambience. Highly recommend!
After several visits, still quite good, tho the same dishes on different visits were unevenly presented- a noteworthy point. Interesting wine list requires many tastes before finding the right one... perhaps more mainstream choices could solve that. The addition of a “tip” for the kitchen payroll is particularly offensive- pay them and incorporate it into your pricing. I solved the problem to my satisfaction by insisting half of my tip be awarded to the kitchen. Bar mezzana would get five stars by addressing just a few issues. BTW, very good service staff, and a smart, capable manager who was able to smooth things over quickly and effectively.
The prices are too high end for such poor service. Food and environment were great !
