We did the chefs tasting and it was absolutely amazing. So much so that we ordered additional servings of the crudos!
Enjoyable food and atmosphere. Largely under staffed. Sat for about 25 minutes waiting for the evenings bill.
The pasta is incredible. Very limited menu of other entrees but not a problem if you love pasta. If you're not into pasta, order a variety of appetizers, all of which are wonderful. Oh, the bread is also delicious!
The food was fantastic. Excellent preparation, sides and apps were terrific. Great atmosphere. Will definitely come back and try other dishes.
Food was excellent. Server was busy so slow for drink refills but most pleasant.
Server was fantastic! Peanut Butter sorbetto was mind blowing!
Heather and Colin never disappoint: We were a group of four on Mothers Day without our Moms. What a fantastic day of eating and drinking! From the Crudo to the Crostini and a few main courses thrown in for good measure! One of our Favorites and it will soon be yours too!
Made a reservation for a graduation dinner with my family. The food was outstanding, the table was perfect and the service was great (if a bit slow). The waiter helped us find a vegan option for my roommate, who said it was delicious.
Fantastic service, food and cocktails! The menu is very creative and everything was delicious. Really enjoyed this place and look forward to returning.
We had such a great time! Ordered a ton of food and everything was delicious. Service was amazing and on top of everything.
Always a great experience - good service, delicious food and wine! A must-visit!
The dinner was very good, however I must talk to the mozzarella and prosciutto plate. The prosciutto was very good, mild and not too salty. However, the mozzarella was very hard. Not sure if it was made in-house or bought, but I don’t think I’ve ever had such a hard ball of mozzarella, not even the store bought in the cellophane packages. Don’t think I will order that again.
I must start with first impressions:
NO ONE greeted us when we got there. A woman at the bar who definitely made eye contact with me finally got up after SEVERAL minutes THEN EYED ME UP AND DOWN as we were walking to the table. It was most certainly a judgmental look.
Our waitress was lovely, but service was considerably slow. I don't mind relaxing at dinner, and I hate to be rushed, but we were there for far too long. We truly appreciated the gratis Prosecco as we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday and our anniversary.
My boyfriend loved his rabbit tortelli, I was unimpressed by it. Their arancini was to die for. The prosciutto di parma was excellent, not too salty at all. The broccoli rabe was FAR too bitter. I had the fettuccine with lamb ragout. It was very yummy, homey, but nothing to write home about.
I did ask for a nice private seat for our special occasion, which they provided BUT the table was really meant for like 5 people so it was a bit overwhelming. The ambiance was beautiful.
I don't think I would go back considering the cost. But it was a very nice evening.
Second time there and now for Brunch. Love the menu. Great cinnamon rolls and eggplant crostini. Everything is fresh and very appealing. Try it out
I was worried bringing my 2 year old to what appeared to be a sophisticated fine dining experience would be problematic but from the moment we walked in the door, they made her, and us, feel very welcome. The food was excellent! The service was great! We cannot wait to be back in town to come again!
I live in the South End and go out for dinner about 2-3 nights a week. We had a lovely dinner at Bar Mezzanna. The service was great and everything we ordered wonderful. We got four appetizers (the crostini with salami and figs was divine!) and the 3 main pastas excellent. They had a menu just for non-alcoholic beverages which is uncommon. The cocktails were prepared as they should and their presentation was also very appealing. We got the chocolate coffee hazelnut dessert: the ice cream and chocolate nibs were great, the cake itself ok. The noise level was appropriate to have a good conversation although I did notice the lack of music. Overall, we all loved the dinner experience and will be back.
Fun, lively and excellent food. Very stylish design and lighting.
I really want to like this place, because the staff is awesome. But the food is uneven and some of it is just meh, especially for the price. Good crudo program though.
My favourite restaurant in the South End. Pasta’s are amazing as well the crudo’s. And the service was yesterday amazing.
Amazing as always!!
This place is special. The food is incredible be it a chicken Parm sandwich at the bar on Monday night or a decadent tasting menu of all they offer. Pastas are dynamite, crudos are delicate and fresh, crostini are the perfect vehicle for getting yummy toppings into ones mouth...
Everyone there treats their customers beautifully and work so well as a team. The kitchen is fun to watch and the bar creates very cool libations!
Our go to place for all sorts of occasions. They even have a private room available. (And valet)
Go. You won’t be disappointed!!
Food and service were outstanding, as usual. However, the noise level was deafening. A very large private party in the main part of the restaurant was responsible. If we had known, we would have booked for a different night. It was not a pleasant evening for us, to say the least.
Bar Mezzana is one of the best restaurants to open in Boston in the past two years. Literally every dish is top notch, with fresh ingredients and super creative combinations. My wife loves the crudos here. I tried the beef carpaccio and it was tremendous (and large). All of the pasta dishes are made fresh and also excellent. Finally, the gelato is as good as the ones we had while traveling in Florence and Rome and the peanut butter sorbet was creamy (tasted like a gelato). We highly recommend this place for any occasion.
Ink Block is a great new area that is developing quickly. Bar Mezzana is in the heart of the block and is a great place to gather with friends and family. The cucumber salad was excellent and the Atlantic char was to die for. The service was superb and Chianti Classico on the wine list was a pretty good value. Would highly recommend Bar Mezzana and will definitely return.
Great experience with our group of 8, we had a little one with us and they had the cutest high chairs!! The waitress was very patient with our chatty group and helped with recommending wine with dinner and other suggestions. We love Bar Mezzana and this visit did not disappoint.
It was my first time to Bar Mezzana and I loved it! The service was quick and attentive and the food didn't take long to be cooked. It was also very good and original!
Overall, my experience was a 5 star! I'll definitely be going back when I'm in the area again!
Pleasant from start to finish. I suggest the $52 tasting menu.
The avocado toast cocktail is unreal. My brother and I each had two. The pasta dishes were so good and my mom, who was visiting, was very impressed with the wine list. I hadn't been back here in a year and they've really stepped up their game. Will be back FOR SURE.
excellent dinner---terrific atmosphere, wonderful service, and tasty food--can't wait to return
My husband and I came to Boston to visit family, and we had a date night to Bar Mezzana! The food was delicious! We loved everything we ate! The waitress was able to recommend wines that paired nicely with our food, and she let me taste prior to pouring a full glass! The only disappointment was that there was no limoncello on the menu. I would have loved to finish the meal with a taste of limoncello!
My parents took me to dinner here for my birthday last Friday. The food was amazing and the service was phenomenal. The server was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She answered all of our questions thoroughly and made great recommendations. Everything was delicious. After dinner my parents ordered me a birthday dessert and the waitress went the extra mile and brought out an additional dessert on the house. Drinks were fantastic as well! Just a perfect experience overall!
always beautiful texture and flavor. never had a disappointing bite or sip of wine here.
get the crudo tasting and any pasta and you'll never go wrong.
Sublime. The perfect restaurant.
Was there on Sunday evening with Italian royalty from the island of Sardinia. She was very pleased with the experience and thought the food was fabulous.
Great ambiance, fun setting for a birthday brunch. Had the Spritz which was perfect, friends had the Ramona, which they liked so much they inquired as to where it might be available in liquor stores. We also settled on the eggs Benedict with prosciutto, Swiss chard and mushrooms. It was amazing!!! Would highly recommend
Delicious food and very family friendly. They kindly provided a convenient spot for the stroller (which is not always easy)
Yummy food but terrible service- sat for 30 min before anyone came over
We made the reservation based upon availability without any previous reference. It turned out to be a great choice! We are from out of town and we love to experience new restaurants. Highly recommend.
