This place is awesome. I had the carpaccio and the Brussels sprouts and would definitely order them again. My wife got the salmon and ate every single bit of it and loved it. Add to that incredible service and we will absolutely be back again.
Service not very good. Neapolitan dessert not usual recipe. Too loud.
Afternoon lunch with a friend. Great service from Brendan. Love the new, clean feel of the restaurant. Nice variety of lunch choices at market prices. We will be back.
Beautiful restaurant with relaxing ambience - nice location, close to South Park shopping. Delicious menu, great for a nice lunch - haven’t tried dinner there yet. Lovely and spacious, we’ll be going back soon!
My favorite in Charlotte!
From the moment we walked in the service was great. Eddie was fantastic. He even turned down the music a notch for us. The atmosphere is very nice. Rustic elegance which is de rigueur right now. We ordered the truffle fries, the basil pesto flatbread and the beet & mozzarella salad. The salad was the best thing. The truffle fries had stuck together in the middle and were only warm. The flatbread tasted good, but again, just warm and a little dry.
A good wine list and some interesting draft beers.
I'd probably go back to have some drinks, but maybe not for dinner based on the appetizers. They seem to get good reviews though so decide for yourself! Mangia!
It was our first time to the restaurant. Jerome was a great waiter. The ambiance was great! My only complaint was the food was luke warm. It tasted great but would have been better if it had arrived hot.
Food was excellent but Portions small.
Had a great time! Has a great vibrancy to the atmosphere, the service staff is very friendly and attentive, Melissa did a great job. My only suggestion is to tone down the amount of salt used in the potato gnocchi. Other than that, everything was fantastic. Will be back.
The service and ambiance were very good, but unfortunately, the food was just OK? Parking is a problem, as well.
Beautiful restaurant. Food was mostly good. Dessert was a joke (sponge cake - I couldn’t find it). Service good but waiters say things like, “I guess you didn’t like it” as you ate it all. What do they expect when you’re hungry! I find it an obnoxious, self-serving comment.
First rate dining. Best pork tenderloin we've ever had in a restaurant. Catch of the Day, very nice. Service impeccable.
Look forward to our return.
Had dinner with 2 girlfriends and great ambiance for a GNO. Service, food and ambiance very nice.
Fantastic place to go for dinner
This is the second time that I have had lunch at Bar Marcel. Food was very good all in my group liked the food and presentation. Eddie was our server and he was very professional and explained the menu items to first-time visitors. He was knowledgeable about the wine offering.
The only deterrent was the amount of time to receive our food.
I will be returning in the near future and recommending Bar Marcel to my friends.
Great new spot in SouthPark area. Been more than once. Food has been great each time, beverages also very well done. Service was top notch on first visit, but things got a bit slow on last visit this past weekend. Waiter was ok, but seems like kitchen got overwhelmed.
Kale Salad? Not a hit. Needs work. Other items all very well presented. Salmon, Bolognese, etc. Desert menu needs work. Very limited and not too pleasing.
Only negative comment is that the dessert menu was too limited
Love this restaurant!!!
Went during Queen’s feast. Everything was delicious! Ambiance was nice, decor cute, waiter on it!
The food and ambiance was fantastic, but we received absolutely no communication from the server around the restaurant week menu or the drastically reduced portion sizes. We left confused and hungry, even after three courses, and probably won't return anytime soon given the price point. It seems like they are targeting wealthy Southpark-area clientele, and that they don't really care that the rest of Charlotte's restaurant scene is learning how to relate to a younger, more diverse audience.
We visited Bar Marcel during Restaurant Week and we enjoyed our meal thoroughly. We loved that they had 3 courses that did NOT include dessert! It gave us the opportunity to sample more of the dishes. We were very impressed with the presentation of each dish; beautiful without being pretentious. All of the items we tried were cooked perfectly and seasoned well without overpowering the nature of the dish. Service was attentive without hovering and little touches, such as bringing appropriate silverware prior to each course, let us know they wanted us to have a "fine dining" experience. Particularly notable dishes were the carpaccio, the beet and burrata salad and a salmon entree (cooked to perfection). We will definitely return and will bring friends!
Ate at Bar Marcel tonight as part of Charlotte's Restaurant Week. First time there. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Great food and atmosphere. Outstanding friendly and knowledgeable service.
Menu standouts included the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio, thé Mussels, and ESPECIALLY the Agnolotti (braised rabbit). That was truly memorable and totally delicious.
Not quite as wowed by the Tuna Tartare or the Shrimp Tagliatelle. Both were good, but a bit bland.
It was totally packed for Restaurant Week, and thus a bit loud, but in spite of the crowd, our server and all the staff were totally attentive, friendly and relaxed. Great evening.
My husband I found Bar Marcel on the list for restaurant week participants. We sat at the bar for dinner and had a great experience with our bartender, service, and food. Since we live in the neighborhood we’ll definitely be back!
Came for restaurant week - was seated immediately. The space is very stylish but because of the exposed ducts it's very loud. The restaurant week menu had numerous options and everything was ate was excellent - the beet salad was fresh and flavorful, the tuna tartare imaginative, and our mains were also very good (the tagliatelle with rock shrimp was surprisingly light and fresh). Service was excellent - attentive but not overbearing and our server was able to suggest wine pairings. Only small issue is that the wine and cocktail pricing is fairly steep for the offerings - I wish they offered BYOB with corkage, which would make it just about the perfect South Park restaurant!
Food and service were very good. Haley took very good care of us. Desserts may not have been quite as good as the entrees but overall it was a good experience. Tried it during restaurant week and will return in the future. It is noisy, so it may not be conducive for a business dinner.
Starting with Daniel, the bartender, who is happy to make recommendations, and make you smile :) to the food, that was truly impeccable, and the space and service - Bar Marcel is something special! The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because we were a little “over serviced,” we are super chatty so interruptions can be a draw back, and my pork entree was amazing, but very spicy, and there was no mention of heat/spice in the menu description.
I highly recommend Bar Marcel, especially to anyone who feels there may be something missing in the CLT food scene.
Great service and food presentation!
Fantastic service; really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back
Outstanding service and wonderful price fixe options for Restaurant Week ~ have happily recommended already for others to enjoy now. Plan to make it a staple in the SouthPark dining areas.
Excellent meal, service was excellent and deserve recognition
Some of the food was great, but some of it was bad and some of it was just so-so. Overall very hit or miss. It was restaurant week, so I'm willing to give them a pass, but it is definitely troubling. Our server was great...very attentive and knowledgeable.
Bar Marcel is the place we have been looking for in Charlotte for years--professional and artistic in every way, without being bombastic or overblown. We went for the Queen's Feast Menu and had both a cheese board and meat board--both were top-notch. Then, we had the Asparagus Risotto (perfect...risotto is difficult to get right!), and the Gnocchi Bolognese. Both were terrific. Then we had the Roasted Chicken with Quinoa and ChickPease and the Pork Tenderloin with Romesco. Finally we split a summery panna cotta. Service was attentive, prompt and professional. Eddie is one of the best servers we have met in Charlotte. We also met manager Susan and thanked her for one of the best meals we have had in Charlotte in a year. The parking valet is a nice touch, especially when parking is difficult to find on Morrison. All in all, we have no complaints (a first for me!) and left feeling like we had found a place where we will return often.
Great food, pricey drinks, great service, decor was good, difficult parking
We went for restaurant week. The food was delicious and the service great.
This was Queens Feast so the restaurant was quite busy. Our waitress was outstanding! She was knowledgeable and accommodating. The food was creative and tasted delicious. The drinks were generous. The only negative was that we had flying gnats around our table.
The menu, service and ambiance were outstanding. It was my second time to eat there. The gazpacho, flatbreads and cocktails are fabulous.
great food and great cocktails/ wine. Our server, Jerome, was wonderful! We tried to eat outside on the pretty patio but the flies were terrible so we had to come inside to eat. other than that we will certainly return!
Music in which one can have conversation
Lovely Wine List
Professional, Knowledgable Friendly Service
Bone In Rib Eye Rocks every time!
Fun vibe, great cocktails with a good pour, interesting and different menu. Service was ok, some food was very good, some just ok. Think once they work out kinks, it will be great. We’ll be back.
They're still working out some kinks with food prep and availability.
