Bar Casa Vale
Bar Casa Vale is excited to feature a special $75 Five Course menu for Valentines day with two seatings available for the evening. Each course will have an array of choices to satisfy multiple dietary concerns with exciting additions like Oysters and Iberico de Bellota and an optional wine pairing. Seats at our bar and a few select tables will be available with a limited item a la carte menu for walk ins if you didn't make a reservation.
Check back February first to see details regarding both menus.
Just a very nice dining experience. Everything we ordered (Jamon Iberico, cheese croquettes, patatas bravas, pork shoulder) was delicious and really well done and seasoned correctly. Patatas bravas come in a hearty portion! All the hot items were piping hot and hadn't been sitting around under a heat lamp.
Service was great and attentive, attractive environment. Tables *maybe* a little too close together, but it was fine.
Great little secret spot that rules!
My husband and I love paella so we went there for Paella Sunday. Unfortunately, for the price, the paella was extremely small and barely had any rice because it was burned to the bottom of the pan. All the tables (except for outside tent tables) face a large window that overlooks a parking lot. Needless to say, we won't be returning.
Prices are high, especially for the wine/cocktails. The radicchio salad should be taken off the menu until they can improve it. It was under dressed, short of fruit, and short of cheese.
It was a real treat
Great food, drinks and service. Seating was a little tight/tables are close together
Very pleasant! The staff were right there to seat us, make suggestions & be attentive
Nice assortment, seems to be quite authentic. Happy Hour is especially fun because the menu of small plates allows tasting a wide variety. Pretty good prices, considering how labor-intensive producing high volumes of these item can be. One note: I didn't realize how rich and oily (i.e., fried!) Spanish food can be. I thought more would be grilled and highly spiced, but not so heavy. It's all good -- but be sure to order a salad!
Out first trip here. All the food was amazing. Minor nitpick - corkage is $20, not $15 as indicated on website. Also, too much cold air blast from enclosed patio when that side door is held open. Otherwise, it was a good find and we will be back.
Great food and nice vibe but was literally deafening inside as garage doors were down. Couldn’t carry on basic dinner conversation. Expect it will better in warm weather.
Great atmosphere at the bar. Wonderful firepit on the patio. Great service and friendly staff. Will go again soon
Food was very rich. Even the Brussels sprouts were overly greasy/buttery. All the desserts we had on the tasting menu were over salted.
Drinks were very good!
VERY LOUD & everything was wonderful. We will be back soon.
our second time here, we LOVE this place! tasty and inventive cocktails, DELICIOUS food, friendly and fun staff.
I’ve been twice - one brunch, one dinner, a year apart. I liked it, now I love it. We had a great meal. Every dish had stellar flavors. Our waitress was very patient and thoughtful.
Excellent wait staff, intriguing menu plus an excellent special with good not overpriced white and red wine
Great tapas experience. Very autentico!
Good food, but weird service. Everyone was very cordial, there was just several little mixups, and the little problems were quickly remedied, but they still made for a less than optimal experience. Crudo delivered to our table though we didn't order it. Spilled sangria on the table. Weren't given plates until we had our first dish for five minutes. An odd little mixup regarding Carrot Salad and Kalette Salad.
Food was really good though. Carrot salad was a delight. Calamari was crisp, hot, fresh. Piri Piri halibut was a nice bite. Sangria was easy drinking, and I appreciate that it didn't have a ton of fruit floating in it. Worth a shot if you've got a free night.
Only complaint is there were ants all over our outdoor table. Food was great, though!
All around great experience, we’ll definitely go back!
Great new Spanish option - food was excellent. We will try the tented outdoor seating with fire pit next time.
in our chefs tasting menu we had two dishes that both had prawns as their main ingredient. one was 5 prawns (2 people) by themselves and then 5 similar prawns on top of paella. we kind of felt like they had to get rid of the prawns. that cannot be a chef’s carefully thought out tasting menu...
The crab wasn't as meaty as I would've liked. Paella was delicious.
great food but excruciatingly slow and rather unfriendly service
I made the Open Table reservation, and specified indoor seating. When we arrived, they seated us on the covered patio. It was too cold, and they couldn't get the heat lamp lit. So, we got to move inside, to be greeted by a wall of sound. I guess it's hip to be so loud, but I like to hear and to be heard by the person sitting right across from me, not to mention the server. Food was so-so.
The overall dining experience was good but not especially memorable. The service was ok, felt a little rushed. Noisy. Seemed pricey for what we got.
All was great!
Nice space, interesting food well done, good service and good price point. Next time we’ll try their lovely patio.
The food was very flavorful, very interesting choices. We ordered around 7 plates and everything was really good! We had amazing drinks and sat outside in the covered are that is heated by eaters and a gas fireplace. Really enjoyed ourselves!
Valentines day theme is great, but food quality and quantity was compromised despite price increase. Dont recommend for friends.
Friendly, helpful and attentive staff. Fun tapas and small plates perfect for sharing.
We recently met for dinner with two friends and the four of us had to scream at each other all night because the noise level is too high. The food was excellent over all the octopus was outstanding and so was the salad. The wine was reasonably priced and very good. The taste of the chocolate mousse I had was nice too. The place has a nice vibe I just wish it wasn’t so loud. And it was freezing inside. They also have a tent outside with heaters which was unbelievably cold I don’t know how people could eat out there but they were..
Phenomenal meal. Best priz fixe you could ask for. Pairings hit the mark all through the meal. Absolutely delightful experience.
Happy hour menu was interesting but I was disappointed they didn't have the clams available. I liked the rustic interior of the bar and the separate patio with fireplace but we got there too early. We arrived at 4:30 and there was nobody else there. We left at 6pm and it was still quiet. I would go back but later in the evening when hopefully there are more people there and a better ambience.
The food was very disappointing and the price point for the small plates ( tapas) were quite high.
- we had the cod skewers ( 2 pieces- small & bland)
- the spot prawns ( greasy & the Meat was very mushy!)
-olives - giant portion
- paella ( rice was not very tasty/flavorful, Again- prawns were mushy and not flavorful, muscles were fine) and was a small portion
It feels like no one tastes the food before it’s plated. Everything needed salt ....
The server when asked, said “ oh it’s delicious “ or “ yeah... it’s sooooo good” to literally all items we asked about on the menu.... and like I mentioned above ... does not deliver
I think this place needs to majorly reinvent itself
It was my first time at a Spanish food restaurant/bar. I was exited to try the food and it was my birthday. The waiter was not helpful or understanding that it was our first time. She just wanted us to order and was very whatever about the whole thing. I walked in and no one greeted me. I didn’t know where the host stand was. I flagged someone down to help me who kind of found my reservation but didn’t know how to use the computer system. The food was meh. The beef tar tar had no flavor. The prawns were great. The drinks were not very good either. Overall I would not come back. I would expect great service or food. But I did not get that. Also I couldn’t read the menu. Would have been nice for the waitress to help with that.
The food was terrible especially the flatbread and Churros, they were not edible
I fully appreciate how BCV sources their local meats and produce!
the food is great. a great place. wished i lived in Portland to frequent this place often.
The bar service was great. We had the Chef Special menu, which was a nice way to taste our way through the menu for a great value. We weren’t crazy about a couple of the dishes, but overall it was a nice meal, with great cocktails and a romantic ambiance.
