About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Charming
  • Great for happy hour
An eclectic menu of hearty, classic bistro dishes crafted with New York flair. Think: A hearty Wagyu French Dip, topped with mozzarella and a creamy horseradish au jus, served on a perfectly crunchy baguette; or the Lobster Frites, made with luxe Maine lobster; the Bolognese Blanc, with freshly made rigatoni in a luscious white wine sauce, topped with wagyu beef ragu and parmigiano reggiano; or the innovative Caesar Salad with Fried Cream Cheese Croutons, which takes a classic Caesar and modernizes it with the flavors of that New York staple – the everything bagel. The star here, however, is the over-the-top Angie Chop Martini, a thinly pounded, breaded pork chop redolent of butter, lemon and red wine vinegar, topped with hot peppers and parmigiano reggiano imported from Italy.

The food was great! Our server was great! But, when we got there the hosts told us our table was ready outside even though I made a reservation for inside which was fine because it was nice out. However it got super windy and things split and went flying. When I asked to move inside they said it was an hour wait even though my original reservation was for inside. That part of the meal just put a bad taste in my mouth I guess.

The place evidently spent a lot of care on the small details like the fun ice cubes and the constant & friendly hands-on service of the staff. Yet, the minuses were too many: the soggy & sweet (?!) pepperoni pizza, how incredibly loud it gets with people having to shout over other people's voices *and* a live band, the eyebrow-raising prices for truly underwhelming food and drinks, and just the overall lack of diverse and elevated ambience. I really wanted to like this place enough to return, but I will pass.

Service was great! The food was solid and the cocktails were creative. Buildout is gorgeous. Only complaint is that it was very loud

The food and drinks were fantastic, the baked clams were a bit overcooked, but besides that it was an A+ meal. Honestly one of the best meals I’ve had in DC. The drink prices were a bit steep but they were delicious so it makes sense.

Beautiful new bar/restaurant by the Balos folks. Menu is delicious. Ambiance is exceptional. Service is great! Drinks are pricey, but excellent.

We were excited to try this new spot on opening night, and while we expected some hiccups with timing, the food was unfortunately a bigger issue. The shrimp cocktail was warm, the pizza came out cold, and the steak was overcooked and so salty it was inedible. I mentioned this to the manager when he stopped by, and while I appreciated him checking in, his response “you have to understand, it’s our first night” felt dismissive. I thought that would be enough of a cue to have the untouched steak taken off the bill, but it wasn’t. I didn’t want to argue, so I paid and left. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, the food and handling of feedback missed the mark.
