About this restaurant

  • Great for outdoor dining
  • Lively
  • Great for creative cocktails
An eclectic menu of hearty, classic bistro dishes crafted with New York flair. Think: A hearty Wagyu French Dip, topped with mozzarella and a creamy horseradish au jus, served on a perfectly crunchy baguette; or the Lobster Frites, made with luxe Maine lobster; the Bolognese Blanc, with freshly made rigatoni in a luscious white wine sauce, topped with wagyu beef ragu and parmigiano reggiano; or the innovative Caesar Salad with Fried Cream Cheese Croutons, which takes a classic Caesar and modernizes it with the flavors of that New York staple – the everything bagel. The star here, however, is the over-the-top Angie Chop Martini, a thinly pounded, breaded pork chop redolent of butter, lemon and red wine vinegar, topped with hot peppers and parmigiano reggiano imported from Italy.

The weather was nice so we opted for the small outside patio. Couldn.t have been a better choice. Shared the grilled lobster and crabcakes. Both were delicious.

It is beautiful. The food is well presented and excellent in taste. The service was pleasant but too slow and there were some mistakes that led to two entrees coming out after the other parties were finished eating. . This is the second time I have eaten at Bar Angie and the same was true of my first visit. I gave it a second chance coming at a quiet time after it had been open a while but it was no better.

Excellent waitress, professional staff. Considering the price point, the quality of the food was not what I expected. Small things… the margarita was not well made, we ordered a second… same experience… perhaps the shaker wasn’t cleaned well enough. While the waitress was very polite, she clearly was not as well versed in the menu as most servers at restaurants of similar caliber.

The place is lovely, but for some reason, the staff seemed in a rush to get us out the door — and it definitely wasn’t closing time. Several things made our experience disappointing. First, our waiter was in a huge hurry for us to order everything right away. Just to clarify, we were neither the only table nor the last ones there — the bar seats were all taken, and we counted at least four other tables full of guests just in our section, not to mention others in different areas and the terrace. So the urgency felt completely uncalled for. The food wasn’t bad, but in a city like DC, it didn’t live up to expectations. We ordered one appetizer and two mains, but everything arrived at once. In their rush to serve it all together, the sauce from the chicken dish spilled all over the table and floor. We hadn’t even finished the (tiny) appetizer — just four thin slices of tuna — when the dessert menu was brought over and we were asked every two minutes if we were ready to order. I told our waiter we hadn’t even started our main courses yet and didn’t know if we’d want dessert — he apologized, but a minute later the pressure started again. We ended up asking for the check just to put an end to the stress. And before we could even pull out our card, it was already taken to be charged. Honestly, we hadn’t even opened our wallets yet. This was meant to be a special evening to celebrate our anniversary, and I had hoped to surprise my husband with a nice dinner. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the most rushed, uncomfortable dining experience we’ve had. Decent food, but forgettable — and the service, while polite, was so pushy it completely ruined the mood. We won’t be returning.

Very active environment / nice staff / food is good / options to go big or economical / smart strategy by owners of new DC place, on a traditionally dead corner.

The server at Bar Angie was magnificent. 10/10 would recommend. The manager was also helpful and accommodating. However, the staff at the host stand were absolutely terrible. It was my actual birthday and they moved multiple groups to better tables before they moved my group to a better table. Were it not for the fantastic server, I’m not sure they would’ve ever served use. Our server was repeatedly checking in with the host stand and also confused as to why they moved other tables before us. The staff at the host stand were also rude and unaccomodating. I would not recommend Bar Angie or return for this reason, especially as it was my birthday.
