   My friend and I did the cocktail masterclass that was so much fun! I highly recommend it as something different to do when in London.

   We were disappointed by our visit to Bar 1890. The Savoy is one of the most iconic places in London and should be a shining example of great service and a wonderful experience - sadly Bar1890 fell well short of that. The bar is very small (some would say cosy others cramped - the tables are very close and we enjoyed the conversation on the table next to us) and there is no real 'bar' - it's a hole in the wall. More disappointedly was the 'experience' - service was professional but it was very transactional and we felt rushed - rushed to order, glasses attempted to be collected before we had finished our drinks and the bill arrived in a flash (and it wasn't as if we outstayed our time - we weren't there for more than 45 mins !). We only ordered two non alcoholic cocktails and the bill came to just shy of £40 so hardly cheap - we wouldn't go back. Just to add, we had dinner in the Savoy Grill straight afterwards and the experience couldn't have been more different - wonderful and friendly service along with great food (their Beef Wellington is to die for).

   Wanted to grab an after dinner cocktail after dining at the Savoy Grill. 1890 is tucked into a small area, the drinks were meh, and the whole experience on ambiance and drink quality is definitely a let down. The service was outstanding. Friendly, attentive (but not harassing) and engaging staff. If you’re looking for an after (or pre) dinner cocktail hit the American bar instead.
