About
I love this place! Their happy hour is amazing. The food is delicious. It has a cool atmosphere. Definitely go here!
First time visitors. Came for brunch and it was delicious. I had the “you can’t sip with us” cocktail and it was so tasty! Everything was delicious, to be honest.
Best chilaquiles I have ever tasted. The brunch menu seems to have something for everybody, and I highly recommend the cinnamon bun to start off with. A definite crowd pleaser. I’ll be back again.
Had a great time dining with a friend of mine. Will definitely go again!
The short ribs were fab! The citrus salad was fab!
Not what it once was, but still a fine night out. Found the appetizers all skewed heavy on the sweet side. Cocktails were average, and price was high-average.
Banker's Hill is always a good choice. Food and service were very good. My friend, who is a foodie, was very impressed overall.
Food was great - best burger in the city, and a solid choice overall. Service is inconsistent, ranging from super friendly and accommodating to “where the hell did he go?”, and that can enhance or dampen your experience.
It’s one of our favorite go to places-
The 3 of us agreed that our entire dining experience rated 5 stars! Everything just perfect, even the noise level was quiet for a Sunday night in the midst of Hillcrest. One of us asked for substitutions on her entree and for the meat to be Well-Done. And she was very impressed that all was just as she'd ordered. I had the pork chop, moist and full of flavor, our other companion had the chicken schnitzel perfectly done.
We go here often prior to the symphony. Love the service and the food. This time the potato chips were a bit too salty but the selections on the Happy Hour menu were great. Thank you.
Was a great atmosphere on the patio. Plenty warm from the heaters. The food was good and the wine was reasonably priced. Just one comment - it was a bit frustrating to only have one vegetarian option.
But it was a good option.
Very creative, delicious food. Friendly service. The ambiance /decor is a bit drab and too dark. The wine was overpriced and desert options too heavy.
We enjoyed our brunch but the service was slow and not attentive.
Lost Valentine’s Day celebration. Good times, great food and solid service. I’ll be back for sure.
Best burger ever. Period. Excellent truffle fries. Awesome drinks!
As someone who comes from the service industry, I don’t find myself writing reviews ever. But, this one I had me a little upset and underwhelmed. I took my girlfriend out for Valentine’s Day and was recommended this restaurant by a friend. We got sat quickly at a nice spot by the bar. We recieved a Valentine’s Day menu and drink menus and that’s where my review starts. We were not greeted by anyone for 10 minutes. We were sitting there in between tables if people being served and not one person said hello. Finally the manager (in a suit) came by and asked us if we had be started on drinks, and finally go those for us. Our server finally comes back with the drinks and asks for our order. Now I’m totally ok with the Valentine’s Day menu if restaurants only have that for the night, what I’m not ok with is when a restaurant has a valentines menu but doesn’t mention they also have the normal menu if you want that too. Our server didn’t even mention we could order from the other menu, because we didn’t want to do three course meal. We would have much rather ordered off the normal menu but I feel like it was shady to not mention that we could order off that menu. Then we got the first dish which was fine (lobster bisque, and bruschetta) nothing special about it. Our entrees (chicken snetzel and pork chop) were really good. Then the desert came out and that was ok as well. Overall the food was 3/5 but noting special. Our bill came out to $170 with tax and tip and we just felt cheated. I don’t mine spending money for great food, but when the service and the food dont reflect what I’m paying, it really sucks. That being said we probably wouldn’t go back to give it another try, and we really really were excited about this place. Huge bummer. I would hope management addresses the service issues promptly.
We meet with our friends every year on Valentines - 15 years !
Bankers was right at the top !
I LOVE this place and so does everyone I take there.
My wife and I have been here no less than 20 times or more since it opened. Every time has been great including food service etc. This time was different. While the salad (citrus and avo was great) our entree’s the steak and the pork tacos were sub par at best. The steak was tough and bland the tacos were not the original recipes they had a few years ago. Perhaps a new chef tinkering? Not sure but i was just sad for this restaurant. I wont’ be back for awhile. Why pay good money for a bad meal. Service was excellent as always.
Banker's Hill has always been one of our favorite restaurants. We can always count on great food, attentive service, and a lovely ambiance for a relaxed dinner!
As always the service was beyond excellent from the hostess, to the waiter (John), and food runner. Food was also exceptional. Happy Hour had some amazing deals. Great evening. Thank you BHB
10 am Sunday brunch and we were the first there! Great Bloody Mary to start
Hand made cinnamon rolls !!!
Many had the bourbon French toast
And i had short rib “ hash” with an egg which wasn’t hash but was good!
Place filled up by the time our group of 8 left and we all enjoyed!
The service was outstanding. The was food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the avocado and citrus salad. It was one of the best salads we have ever experienced.
Love the food and service, but even when we arrived at 5:30 p.m. on a Saturday night, the noise level rose almost immediately. The only drawback at this otherwise fine establishment...
Great place for Happy Hour; homemade potato chips, beet salad with frisee and goat cheese, taco of the day, beef slider for starters with a nice cocktail. Love the casual but special neighborhood vibe. Parking on the street is easy during early evening hours. Great service, will be back!
Food quality wasn’t as good as usual.
First time visit. Food was decent and so were the drinks. Liked the interior and exterior of this place.
Great dinner and accommodating staff. But please change the front door! Tables near it get a blast if cold air!
Restaurant week was amazing. Christina the server did a great job with the whole experience along with her team!
The food was delicious! We will be back!
Outstanding place to dine. Many choices of excellent food! Never thought I would rave about cauliflower, but Bankers Hill changed my mind.
Great location and dining options. Service was also very good.
One of the only places in San Diego right now where I feel like I actually got what I paid for.
We went for San Diego Restaurant Week. The food was heavenly-- honestly!
The the chicken schnitzel and bread pudding were to die for.
Extremely personable server who made us feel special and made the meal that much more enjoyable.
Banker's Hill offers a delight for the palate. The cauliflower is crispy and the sauce adds the perfect finish for each bite. We went for restaurant week and it was a great value for a delicious meal.
Modern/industrial, but warm and inviting. Great friendly service. Delicious specialty cocktails. Very good devilled eggs. Would like to go again.
Great food. Meatloaf was outstanding, especially with the Brussels sprouts.
The waiter was super friendly and the food was absolutely delicious!
A cozy restaurant with wonderful staff serving delicious food. I highly recommend the braised pork tacos, they are exceptional and if I lived closer I would have had dinner there the next night
