Serving up authentic, Mexican street fare, and a selection of over 100 tequilas and American whiskeys. Bakersfield is a spot where the food is simple, the service is warm and the atmosphere is alive.

We do offer a heated outdoor dining experience during the winter months. These tables are located in a covered and enclosed tent with heaters spread throughout. We recommend dressing warmly if the temperatures outside are below 40 degrees.

Excellent food & quick service with fair price. Downfall, way too noisy. Barely keep a conversation going without screaming & we were in a corner in the back area. Suggestion, put a dessert or two in the menu. We would have stayed for some but nothing to choose from. Lastly, disappointing to have to pay $35 to park in lots around restaurant + meal. Should be given a discount if able a customer.

I always have good time at Bakersfield. The staff is super friendly and the food is always good. The picture of Margarita is always a fave with a small group of people.

Been here many times and have always had an amazing time. I think on this particular night the JV squad was working. The waitress was way more interested in hanging out at the front counter and bar than ever helping us. Had to ask multiple times to just get our drinks. Half of our order did not show up. The manager hand delivered the second wave of food and comped it which was a nice gesture. Definitely not their finest work on this night.

Unfortunately, my friends and I encountered a very racist waiter. He would slam our cups on the table, wasn’t very friendly, and messed my order several times. Also, my friend had a shellfish allergy and there was a shrimp taco on the same plate as the other tacos. When we explained to him that our friend had a shellfish allergy all he did was put her food on a separate plate. Our food was cold and very nasty. When we asked for a manager, he refused to get someone over to our table. Overall this was the worst experience I’ve encountered here and I was very disappointed.

The food is ALWAYS good here! We often just get some tacos and a drink .. but never disappointed. Last night we had the fish, carnitas, chicken and pepper tacos .. very good! The special guava margarita with tajin was delicious!

Our server was so sweet and kind, however we only saw her about 5 times - taking drink order, delivering drinks, taking food order (probably 20-30 minutes after we sat), delivering food, and check delivery. We were out celebrating a birthday, and not well attended. She could have had a much higher tab from us had she only checked in more. The food was incredible and the drinks were delicious.

I’ve been to Bakersfield several times over the years, and it’s usually a great experience. The staff is always friendly, and with a reservation, I’ve always been seated promptly. The food has typically been a highlight—especially the Johnny salad, Baja shrimp tacos, and the green salsa. On my most recent visit, the Johnny salad was still delicious, but the Baja shrimp taco didn’t taste as good as it used to, and the green salsa seemed different. I noticed the menu has changed, so that might explain it. Service is usually solid, but this time, our server didn’t check on us as often as expected, which was a bit disappointing. I still really like Bakersfield and hope these changes are just a bump in the road. I’ll definitely give it another try.
