So disappointed with this Baia experience. Before the fire occurred, I had enjoyed 7 meals at the place. Food was always great, portions were more generous, but service was always marginal. Last night was my first post-fire meal. Service was outstanding - our server was British and showed up bursting with enthusiasm and looked after us well - but the food was a major disappointment. The menu is heavily weighted to pastas (4 of 7 main courses are pasta) and then there are pizzas, all of which are relatively inexpensive to make but are very expensive on the menu - you might think you were purchasing expensive animal parts at a swanky omnivore's eatery), but they did away with their most loved pasta meal, a robust, cheesy, and generously portioned lasagne. The prices are high - $25 for a handful of mushroom tortellinis that have blasse flavor. At best this was an appetizer. The dessert -- which was supposed to be panna cotta - was three small molds of gelatinous inedible and offensively tasting gunk. We left that $14 dish and departed. Really sad because this place has a spectacular platform - a Pat Kuleto designed interior, a stone's throw from the symphony and opera. It's an ideal location. But after years the chef has shown very little imagination. It's basically the same thing sold at unreasonable prices in a place that is extremely LOUD. They need to take a field trip to Los Angeles and visit Crossroads, or Little Pine, or Plant Food & Wine, or Sun Cafe, for some inspiration in terms of what's possible. There is so much more to vegan fine dining than bread, salad, pizza and pasta! And none need be a fortune. But as it stands today there is more vegan menu diversity at Amy's Drive Through than at Baia. Fingers crossed that Baia steps up and starts to impress.

Food, amazing. Bar staff amazing. They were 30 minutes late on our table reservation and the hostess literally said “that’s your problem” so we just ate at the bar. But truly the bar staff was so kind and awesome. That hostess tho - she was mean!

First time trying this vegan Italian restaurant in the old Jardiniere space and everything was excellent! Started off with a delicious cocktail and then the sunchoke appetizer. A very unusual preparation and lovely contrast of flavors. I had the rigatoni for my entree and it was spicy and full of flavor. Had a nice glass of Barbera with this. The chocolatto for dessert was rich and decadent! My server was Ernesto, who was very attentive and made excellent suggestions. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience and look forward to returning!

Bottom line is that I would not go back there again. The ambiance is great(5!) but the food and service is not good. Food: dishes were fresh with good ingredients, but simply not tasty. Service: disappointing. Explanation of menu items was lacking, we did not get our starters together, and the cocktails came long after we finished our starters. As a Vegan going to a vegan restaurant I was hoping for better and more original vegan menu than non-specialized establishments.

What a great find! With a location right next to Davies Symphony Hall and War Memorial Opera house, it is a convenient place to have dinner before a performance. We had a great vegetarian meal and washed it down with some great cocktails. They have a great wine and spirit list. They even accommodated our late arrival due to traffic. We had the meatball small plate with a salad and pizza. Thumbs up to all entrees. Will definitelyy be back

I used to really love this restaurant however it seems it’s gone downhill. We arrived at 7:10 for our 7:15 reservation only to be told they were running behind schedule. We got seated around 7:30 so not too big a deal. After that our waiter spoke to us maybe 3 times. We ordered right away and the food came fast it was mediocre at best (not sure if they changed chefs). We got some drinks as well with no straws we waited about 10-15 minutes for our waiter to come but he never came so I myself got up went to the bar to get us some straws so we could 1. mix our drinks 2. drink our drinks. After we finished our meal we sat around waiting for about 30 minutes until finally I went to go ask the hostess for the check. Terrible service and mediocre food :/

BAIAResponded on March 5, 2023So sorry to hear Sophia. We do appreciate your feedback and I would say you are right for the night in question we were caught with not as many servers as needed. We do appreciate your comments and are already and work identifying how we could have made last night for you and all of our guests last night.

Good food but not meant for kids. We had to wait for 30 mins for our table and our daughter was starving by the time we got our food. They comp'd our drinks which was a nice gesture. We will be back but only when we have enough time to wait for our reserved table.

BAIAResponded on March 7, 2023So sorry to hear of your recent experience. We did back up on reservations that night and very sorry you got caught in the wait. We are reviewing our reservation system currently to make sure that doesn't happen again. Again our sincerest apologies.

For three of four people in our party we ate good pasta dishes. However the fourth person on our party has multiple food restrictions and there was nothing on the menu for her to eat. We had reviewed the menu ahead of time and there was a grilled vegetable dish that was listed on the web but that dish was no longer offered. At one point we asked the waiter if the kitchen could ask the kitchen to slice up half an apple, an orange, and a kumquat, all of which was on the menu on different dishes. We were told that the kitchen was too busy, so one person in our party ate nothing. For a vegan restaurant to not be able to deal with this let alone not be able to provide a plate of cut fruit is ridiculous. If that was not enough one in our party ordered one the signature drinks when we placed our food order, and that drink was delivered after our food was delivered 20 minutes later. Clearly the restaurant is either understaffed at the bar and a kitchen that is not sized for delivering food to the number of customers in the restaurant at 6pm at night. Again, the food was good when served. Just service and food options are limited. Personally I feel no need to pay for this experience again.

BAIAResponded on March 7, 2023Hi Len, So sorry to hear of your recent experience. This is clearly not our standard and not acceptable all around. We will review our policies and what we could have done better and be better for it. Our sincerest apologies.

Always love the space. Food was good, not great. Our server was abrupt and just not very good, though she did get us out in time for our performance. Eg, we had to ask for serving utensils for shared items; coffee arrived without spoons or (oat) milk; when we asked for more water, she refilled a couple of glasses (not the third) then clunked the bottle on the table; ie, she exuded attitude. Also, the walls and dinnerware are all dark as well as some of the food, so with the dim lighting, it wasn’t easy to see what we were eating. Dessert menu was printed in maybe 8-pt font in grey ink, which made it extremely difficult to read.

Baia prepares vegan food in an amazing variety of delicious recipes. One person in my group needs gluten-free choices and another has to avoid foods with lactose. In both cases, their food requests were easily accommodated and they loved their appetizer, salad, main course, and dessert! Baia is located across from Davies Symphony Hall and is a perfect choice for dinner before or after a performance!

Surprisingly delicious for a plant-based restaurant. Our vegan friends were visiting, so we were exploring food options across the city. We ordered the chilaquiles, BLTA, pizza, and crumb cake. All dishes were delicious, but the crumb cake stole the show! It was served super warm with “cream” that tastes just like the real thing. The service was great (we went for brunch), with friendly servers. Ambiance was fantastic as well! Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for plant-based food options.

Was really impressed with everything we tried - the fingerling potatoes, mozzarella sticks, spicy sausage pizza, butter salad, mushroom ravioli, panna cotta, and chocolate dessert were all fantastic.
