Great find for us and a pleasant first experience ! My husband could not get over how perfect my daughter's filet was cooked to medium. They kept bartering for a piece of scallop for a piece of steak 😂 Charcuterie board was beautifully presented and tasty. My chicken saltimboca was divine. Will be back for sure +
Favorite neighborhood spot. 5 star cuisine; VERY impressive wine list; family owned and run. Can’t recommend Bacaro enough! Can’t wait to go back. 😀
Food was on downside of mediochre. Service was poor and overall, Bacaro lacks ambience. Had been there a year and a half ago for a company function in a side room and had favorable impression of food and service but last saturday was a different, disappointing experience.
Having Bill Loveday's expert advice on wine enhances any meal. We both had seafood: I had the salmon that is always on the menue and my husband had the founder special. Both were excellent,
Favorite neighborhood spot. Always a wonderful time.
Neighborhood BYOW gem...........great food, great service, great family running the show.
We love this family-owned restaurant for the delicious food, great service and exceptional value. Excellent wine list with mark ups way lower than other restaurants. Also a favorite because the carpeting in the dining room makes it quieter than other restaurants, allowing table conversations easy to hear.
The food was delicious and just the right amount. The service was excellent and of course the wine paired great with the food.
Wonderful, helpful staff. Delicious and interesting entrees. Clean with a nice ambiance.
I cannot say enough good things about Bacaro. The staff was phenomenal. Being Italian American and growing up on authentic Italian food, this restaurant really has some of the best food in Houston. It’s intimate setting makes it great for date nights or dining with friends. I would highly recommend!
My husband and I totally fell in love with this place, either for a drink at the bar or dinner. Family owned and extremely nice and treat you with kindness.
Now to the food, there has been no disappointment on anything we have ordered. Delicious!!!
Great atmosphere and service. Food was delicious
A charming neighborhood place with well-prepared Italian-inflected food and nice wines by the glass or bottle. Great for a peaceful evening of conversation supported by good food and wine.
Passed this spot a million times. Dropped in as a single for dinner. Excellent choice. The Bacaro house salad plentiful enough for two. Parppadelle Bolognese was super good full of flavor, close your eyes and you were in the Piazza Navona. A bottle of 2012 Chateau du Pavilion very reasonably priced. Yummy leftovers. A nice family run respite from the ocean of chain restaurants. Give it try. Support local.
My husband and I are constantly looking for new places to eat on date night. The food was delicious. I had the beef stroganoff and my husband had the Spaghetti Carbonara, both were delicious. We also had the Tuscan Brussel Sprouts as a side and tiramisu for dessert. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. The owners came by often to check on us. The wine list is extensive and varied.
We really enjoyed coming to Bacaro's and will definitely return and recommend it to our friends.
Thank you for a lovely evening.
We absolutely live this restaurant! The food is amazing and the service outstanding. Family owned and operated and they welcome you and treat you as on of their own.
Highly recommend this place if you want a fantastic dining experience. We have never been disappointed.
Service is always top notch, personal, attentive and indicative of a family run operation. Menu is diverse for the size of the restaurant. The scallops were divine! We celebrated Christmas Eve dinner and were definitely not disappointed. Love Bacaro!!
Our favorite family restaurant with 5 star EVERYTHING: service, food, drinks... can’t recommend it enough. Would give 6 stars if I could. The perfect Christmas Eve dinner.
Love this restaurant! It is a hidden gem with EXCELLENT Food!
"We loved the relaxed feel of this place. We definitely would return to try the pasta dishes. It was Christmas Eve and we were having our traditional lasagna for Christmas dinner at home. We would love to try the lasagna served here. We had the veal dish and both my wife and I thought it was very good. The meatballs for our starter was delicious. Service was very good and the server was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. My wife had a glass of wine and felt it was one of the better tasting wines she had at a restaurant.
The place is a locally owned and operated which gives one a feel that you are greatly appreciated versus going to some national chain operation.
Wonderful food & great waitress!
We really love Bacaro. Been there three to four times In the last 5-6 months. They handle Covid protocols well and the owner, his family and their service is excellent. The food is exceptional ( meatball appetizer is great) and we always have a really nice time when we’re there.
My husband and I live in the neighborhood and have dined at this restaurant many times before and after it became Bacarro's. The food is great. However, the atmosphere has less ambience than it used to. The lighting, decor and staff, including the past chef, used to make this a unique and intimate restaurant hangout for us. We often looked forward to a 'night out' there. Now the restuarant has become a more brightly lit, with white walls and a kitchen-type atmosphere. We find it less romantic, more of a sports bar hangout with the host and hostess in jeans and sneakers. For us, when we spend upwards of $100 on dinner, we want to go somewhere special and are not likely to return for that reason. If what you are seeking is a good meal and don't much care about ambience, this is more for you.
Great meal and dining experience. The trout special drew raves. Bacaro is a special treat and break from the boring chains that crowd City Center.
Great food, great service, family run restaurants is always the best! Owner is always there to greet us and his adult children are such an incentive to the restaurant. We are extremely thankful and grateful to Bacaro Kitchen, classy and great ambiance. We have loved and enjoy dining at the restaurant ever since the couple took over from previous owners. Very humble people. 5 stars and thumbs up. Highly recommend to all. Bring your friends!
Good food, excellent service, good ambience, and quiet.
Excellent service, wine selection, and attention. Our meals were outstanding.
Another great meal at this neighborhood gem.
Nice, friendly neighborhood restaurant. Outdoor patio is a good feature but, sadly, only looks over parking lot and the side of a nearby building. Cozy indoor dining area. Food, especially salads and veggie sides, was satisfying.
One of our favorite neighborhood eateries. Nice to have excellent Family owned Italian Kitchen location close by. Food is always fresh and excellent. Table check backs could be limited a bit because it is disruptive when in middle of conversation. Otherwise, service, food and ambiance is great.
Wonderful neighborhood cozy quiet place to dine
Great food and atmosphere. The owners are on the floor, assisting and visiting with the customers. A great place to dine!
Great dinner and wine selection, as usual. We enjoy supporting small, family owned businesses in the area like Bacaro and appreciate the attention they pour into making every meal a top-tier dining experience.
Food was good to very good and atmosphere was cheerful and clean. Service was slow and not so attentive
Hi Barron thank you so much for your feedback, we are happy to hear that you enjoyed dining with us. Unfortunately we have had to downsize our staff due to COVID's impact on our business, resulting in slower service on the rare busy nights that we are fortunate to have. We do all we can in order to provide excellent service while still ensuring the safety of our staff and customers, and we apologize for not meeting the usual high standards we hold for ourselves. We hope to see you in again soon!
The food here is FABULOUS! The service is also superb. I highly recommend this place for a nice dinner out.
Great local spot
We were celebrating Kathy’s birthday! 🎉🥂 As always Bill made our experience special, and the food was prepared fresh, delivered hot and delicious! 👏👍
We saw this restaurant driving home one night and noticed the cute outdoor lighting and patio - we made reservations the following weekend and were not disappointed !! The service was wonderful, very attentive and kind. The menu was wonderful, I really liked how they use Italian language on the menu - the one word I did not know our waitress even taught us a bit about it! I thought it was a nice touch :) we tried the caprese salad, veal Milanese , frutti de mar and the chocolate mousse cake — all of which were absolutely wonderful! It was a perfect date night :) we will definitely be back!
This is our second time eating here under the new ownership, charming couple. However, the food this time was mediocre, one dish was well over spiced for Italian food and the other two had way too much oil. Needs a bit more traditional Italian cooking spin. I hope our next time will be better, we really enjoy the restaurant.
What an absolutely delightful evening! Owners, Bill and Maria, greeted us as we entered and showed us to our table right away. Our server was friendly and professional ... and patient as we asked questioned and took our time deciding on wine and then food! No matter the decision, it was all great and we can hardly wait to return and try something else on this great menu. Friendly faces from the neighborhood added to the warmth and charm and owners that truly care make this a place you want to come back to over and over! Thanks! See you again real soon!
