Babylon Carriage House
Skirt Steak Sandwich
It took the server 20 mins before anyone came over to take our drink order. We ordered a salad, when it came, we had no cutlery. It took awhile to get anyone’s attention to give us some. Food was ok but cold and at that point it wasn’t as enjoyable as it should have been. We had to wait again before getting anyone’s attention to get a little cheese. When we were looking at the menu, it stated prices had changed and we were ok with that. What we were not ok with is the 5% service charge they added to our bill. Raising prices on the food wasn’t enough! It’s a beautiful place but we will never go there again. We don’t mind spending money for a good meal and good service but it took way too much effort to get anything. Very disappointing.
We hadn’t been to carriage house in a long time and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to going back.
Had short ribs notso meat was chuck roast on risotto risotto good but meat tough.
Always a good experience. Never disappointed
Nice atmosphere upstairs. They let us use the elevator. Food was outstanding but a bit pricey.
Our server was not properly trained. Not his fault. He did not know to give a taste of the bottle of wine before pouring. He said "if you know the brand then you know its good." I said, the point is to see if the "bottle" is good not the brand. The food took forever and a table next to us was so loud we could barely hear ourselves. We ended up cancelling the second bottle of wine and not even ordering dinner. It usually is very good so I guess it was an off Friday night. Also said in the notes when I booked the table that it was two friends' birthdays and to bring a dessert with a candle. That never happened.
Filet mignon was delicious. Attentive service but had to ask for a water refill. Bad acoustics, way too noisy!
Food was right on point as well the cocktails I mean the presentation was perfect , the staff super friendly and helpful , we definitely coming back.
The room was all wood and there wasn't much to absorb the volume of people out for a good time. So God bless us all to be out again, but it was hard to hear my dinner partner. Service was polite but slow. Food was VERY good.
Great service,, good food
Fantastic drinks and food.
Went for a dinner with a couple of coworkers. Food was excellent. Staff was great. Very attentive.
The food is amazing and the ambiance was great. Our server was extremely helpful and super nice too, we will definitely be back
Went for dinner with a friend, we split the Thai calamari for an appetizer it was delicious! Ordered the skirt steak for dinner, very flavorful. Waitstaff was attentive and friendly
Met clients for business dinner. This was my first time visiting restaurant. Service was good but felt like we were being rushed. There was no wait or crowd , so not sure why we were hurried. Price fix meal on Thursday is good value, but they cut back on portion size. Ordered upgrade filet mignon which was quality but totally overcooked. Good overall meal and experience but nothing great.
Service good. Lack luster indoor dining. Gets pricey.
Live music was incredible. Plenty of space between us and other guests. Wait staff was funny and engaging. Food was incredible.
It was extremely noisy. Dress code was not enforced. Used to consider the Carriage House upscale. Not any more!
Mary Ellen and I like to go out for dinner
Food was great, service was a bit slow for drinks
Always an incredible experience here. Ordered the special branzino and my husband got the porterhouse. Food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. Very attentive service. Overall, wonderful experience.
Carriage House never disappoints. The food is consistently delicious every time we go. Steak was cooked perfectly.
There is nothing really good to say about this restaurant. Music so loud we could barely hear each other talk started off the dinner that we should have never started. Appetizer of thai calamari had good flavor but was rubbery and tough. Entree of shrimp and linguini in scampi sauce also had good flavor but the shrimp were undercooked. Both burgers were overcooked and the beef short rib was ridiculously small for the cost. And then we are told that if we pay by credit card there is a 3.9% fee which apparently is in the fine print on the menu. And the worst part is that a surcharge like this is illegal in New York. Restaurants are free to give a discount for cash but they cannot add a surcharge. For example, they must show the higher price on the menu and then they may say that you get a discount if you pay by cash but they cannot list a lower price and then add a surcharge. I'm sure the restaurant manager knows this and if he doesnt he/she needs to find another profession. If a restaurant doesnt follow the law on this I wouldnt assume they are following the law regards to the Health Department regulations either.
Once again the Pre-fixe meal wasn’t offered even though it’s on the menu
I have been going for years and normally love the place but the last few times there have been issues
Appetizers were large enough to share and good value. Steaks cooked as we ordered and service was prompt. Dinner for four with wine $200 and food was great! Had ny strip, penne ala vodka, antiposta, mac + cheese and cesar salads. All good size and tasty.
All was well….we were seated upstairs….nice…a bit quieter.
On the second floor…the server had to go downstairs to get drinks etc….fine but by the time he returned with coffee it wasn’t particularly warm. No fault of the server just the logistics he has to go through to satisfy your needs.
Food and service great, great music, great atmosphere, we weren't rushed
It was our first time here and it was quite outstanding. We started with the baked clams, pretzel sticks and a caesar salad, which were all tasty. Our entree's included the marinated skirt steak, chicken piccata, salmon and penne a la vodka. Everything was cooked perfectly, nicely portioned and bursting with tremendous flavor. I must say we were delightfully impressed with our selection and 2 thumbs up to our waitress, who was very nice, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I can't wait to go back.
We were celebrating my birthday 81 years old
Service was outstanding and food was great as always. Ladies room, however, is gross. Looks like it hasn't been cleaned in ages. Floor is filthy, toilets were filthy - and one looked like it had black mold growing on it.
Food was awful! My friend ordered the “special” appetizer a shrimp roll.. it was gross frozen baby shrimp, looked disgusting. I’m a vegan, so ordered something off their vegan menu (three items). I ordered the Thai Noodles.. it was spaghetti stir fried. Also, there was a 4% charge for using your credit card vs. cash.
Server was good, though!!! Not his fault the place sucks
Party of 6. Appetizers, drinks and dinner were absolutely delicious! We had the beat waiter as well, his name was Rich.
Great food and great service my daughter was happy with her birthday dinner
Excellent service and great food, must try the Carmen tacos...
Overall, we enjoyed our time at the Carriage House. Appetizers of calamari and cauliflower were very good, we really enjoyed them. Dinners included a super large filet mignon, a linguini special, a cowboy burger, a carriage house burger, and the short ribs. Everyone loved their dinners. Desserts were just a little lacking, we weren't crazy about the options, but we were more than full so it was probably a good thing. A very good experience at the Carriage House. We will return.
Great food and service!
It was restaurant week. The Restaurant week menu was only good if you were seated by 5:30 pm, we did not know that when we made the reservations. The food is good but everything is ala carte. They only have roasted potatoes for a starch. They only have asparagus for a vegetable. They should have more choices. Other restaurants honor the menu for restaurant week all day & night. They should have informed customers of the time cut-off.
I love the Carriage House, it’s conveniently 10 minutes away from my house but it’s still a nice place to go for a date night. The upstairs is amazing and a lot more private than downstairs, so I requested to have the hostess seat us upstairs so we could speak openly as it was a special occasion. She proceeded to roll her eyes and shrugged her shoulders at us and then proceeded to seat us and walk so far ahead of us that I didn’t know where she went once we were upstairs, I had to find her. The food is truly amazing and the service is decent, however if good and quality service is something you look for, I’m starting to think this may not be the place.
Excellent food and service. Upstairs where we sat was perfect...downstairs noisy because of a lively bar.
Food was great. The service was good but sometimes a little slow. Our deserts got lost. We reordered them and they came promptly.
