Overall we felt that the restaurant provided a very nice experience. The quality of the food was very high though we felt that the dishes were a bit dry and would have benefited from sauces. The only downside was the music volume which made it a bit uncomfortable.
We were very disappointed in the food and noise. We had an early 6:15 reservation so I ignored the comments about loud music thinking it would be after 9 and certainly not during dinner hour. I should not of! The food was fair. My sister in law had the only good meal of Peruvian version of chicken stir fry. Where we sat also had the smell of a sewer at times:(. I would be surprised if they survive the season. Pick up and clean up service was very good.
Good, great service
Food and service was wonderful but the band was so loud that it was hard to have a conversation. Either the band needs to lower the volume or the restaurant needs to install doors that will allow the dining room to have a quieter ambiance. We will return when the band isn’t there. Side note: the band and vocalists aren’t that good.
DJ music was way too loud for dining.
Food and service was great, band was good just a little too loud
Great entertainment but loud. Live singer was great but band was loud. Food was well flavored. Pretty place. Attentive staff.
Food was ok, but the service was weak. Because of COVID concerns, we asked to be seated outside. We were often neglected. I was troubled by the number of people working without masks (currently not permitted in CA). When we finally got menus and were able to order~~some 30 minutes after being seated—we hoped for better. Appetizers, though, arrived before cocktails, and we had to chase our drinks down. And so went the night.
The service was extremely poor. We waited an hour for our food and one item never came so we cancelled it. In addition they automatically added 20% for tip which we would not have done given the poor service. There were people who came at the same time as us and they were served and done before we even got served.
The music was so loud you couldn’t hear yourself talk… and we were in the other room…the service was beyond slow… took over 30 minutes to get a drink order in… then cocktails came with dinner. Drinks are expensive but overall there is very little value for the money considering the lack of any ambiance and service.
Excellent food and service!
Excellent food and service, but music was too loud and inappropriate.
Music was great, service excellent. Food average, wine good . Food did not match up with cost.
Food was pretty good. Service was spotty. The music from the lounge band was overpowering (and not particularly good).
Well...I have mixed feeling about this place. We got there at our confirmed reservation and were promptly seated in a booth with our menus. It took a bit; but our waiter finally arrived and took our drink orders. We also ordered two appetizers at the same time. The drinks were great; however, appetizers were awful...stuff mushrooms and fried Totones. No favor at all. We didn't finish them. Terrible. Our waiter took our entrée orders which came out pretty fast. Tasty; but nothing to write home about. Typical bar food; but nicely plated. Now, there was a band and they were fabulous; but they were very loud so much so to have any table conversation was simply impossible. They did have an intermission and did play some softer song so that was a nice change of pace. Our booth was facing away from the band so you couldn't even see them without having to turn your head 180 degrees which was very inconvenient. I think this place has a lot of potential; but I'm not sold on it yet. But I think next time I'll come back for just drinks and music. So if you looking for a great drink & music venue this is it. With the food I'll need to give it a second chance.
Could not hear yourself think as well
As having a conversation due to the extremely loud dance lounge. Very disappointed. Even moved tables but could not get away from the very loud dance music. They need to close off the open lounge from the resturant
Horrible! We will not return
I had Kevin as the server. Service was excellent food came out very fast. Owner came out and talked to us all. We all had a great experience
Been to some Cuban restaurants and Babaloo Lounge was one of the best I have dined at.
We loved our dinner tonight at Babaloo! Yes not much going on in the desert in the late July 111 degree heat and the lounge was fairly quiet but the food was so yummy (especially my gooey shrimp bowl - to die for) and my mango habanero margarita (omg so HOT and so good)- and the service from our waiter Hector was wonderful and he was so friendly and helpful with the menu, especially with the Cuban ingredients we weren't familiar with. The bar was very pretty and lots of tvs if only the Padres game hadn't been rained out we would have stayed much longer...We will be back next time to try the Cubano sando very soon!
Wonderful food, unusual interesting for a non-Latin like my wife and I. We had lamb lolipops, great tacos and Philly steak sandwiches. Great music and dancing we are going back tonight.
It was our first time at Babaloo, and boy it did not disappoint! Definitely our new favorite spot in the valley. The service and drinks from bartenders Joe and Jared was spot on. We had the Loma Saltado and El Jinete (Swordfish). Live music every night! This restaurant and bar has everything you could ever ask for. We will be regulars.
Loved the music and dancing. Is Peruvian and cuban food. Lots of meat. I had a shrimp cocktail and beans and rice and jalapeño poppers as I do not eat meat. Would like a few more salad choices. The cocktails were good. Servers were helpful. Booths are huge...very deep seating..Need pillows for people to lean against.
We will come back for the entertainment and appetizers. Would like a few lighter main dishes. Good parking in back and easy to get to.
The service was excellent, I made reservations for a nice booth Accommodations where excellent. Had the Peruvian ceviche, one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Very much recommend. Can’t wait to visit again.
Great food great and friendly service
Fathers Day Dinner
My food was OVER SALTED, and friends veggie sauté the mushrooms were burnt!!! We told the manager who said sorry we need to pay the bill as is, we asked for maybe another appetizer and we’d be happy, but she refused and slammed the bill back down and said you are paying the bill as is!! I was stunned!!
We all really enjoyed our dinner. Everything was really good and there are a lot of very original dishes and drinks not found anywhere else in the whole Coachella Valley. Will definitely go back and bring more people to see this wonderful place
Several younger friends recommended Babaloo as a new experience. That's what it was. I'm not crazy about the food - meat was delicious and black beans I loved, but the plate lacked something...a big lump of rice, a bowl of beans, and lump of meat. Boring. I don't know if we'd come back at this point. Our waiter was great, drinks were great...but ho hum. We came for the music to hear Tim but there was another group that was too loud (and we were in the next room. ) Oh well, we're in our mid-80's, and it's probably best for the younger crowd.
Great spot for Cuban food! Hostess , staff and manager were so accommodating and friendly! Will definitely be going back again!
Good band but way way too loud for gracious dining. Excellent meal.
Excellent all the way around , it will be a regular stop for us
The food was amazing and can't wait to enjoy the evening entertainment
First timers at the Babaloo Lounge. Sat inside, pretty much in the middle of things. Music started at 6PM. Quite enjoyable. A bit loud at times, but, I'd rather it be that way in lieu of things being on the quiet side. Food was good, although, I cheated and had the Western Burger. It was great. Wife had a large Chef Salad. It also looked great. We will return.
