B&B Butchers & Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Seated 30 minutes after reservation time, got the worst seat in the house, and steaks were under cooked! We chose B&B to celebrate a special occasion. It was our first time to the restaurant. They did NOT meet expectations by a loooong shot! We will NOT be back!
Didn't start great....used OpenTable for our reservations. Wanted to change time and somehow didn't notice it changed the day as well. Discovered when called to say we were running 10 minutes later than seating. Hostess was quite understanding and offered to seat us about an hr after arrival. Sat at the bar and had a couple drinks. Could watch the football game. Was actually about 9:30 before we were seated and offered an Aisle table, but did accommodate us with a window table instead. Alex was our waiter and made excellent choices with both wine selection and food. We both had filets. Didn't opt for the dry aged, yet they were incredible. Mashed potatoes and spinach were lovely too. No rush. Not to loud to where we couldn't hear each other. Great evening.
We went to B&B for a family birthday. The food was outstanding, and the service was good considering how crowded the restaurant was and how difficult it was for waiters to pass among the tables. My only complaints were 1) the closeness of the tables and 2) the noise level. We had people at nearby tables talking to us about the food we ordered and our conversation. We could also hear everything they were saying at their table. When I pay a premium for a delicious meal, I would hope to have a somewhat private experience. But I can't say enough about how delicious the food was and how well we were treated by the staff.
We return here because we enjoy the food and atmosphere. The food, service and ambiance were excellent. We usually get medium-rare wagyu, and we think it's the best in town. The only drawback is that they don't make a dirty Grey Goose martini (dirty Goose) very well as we've tried multiple times before coming to that conclusion. Eddie V's has the best dirty Gooses by far.
I was really looking forward to dining at B&B Butchers since I had never gone before. We had the crab cake and a dozen of oysters for an appetizer. The crab cake was awesome. In my opinion, the oysters weren't very tasty and quite gritty. The crackers were broken, which our server happily replaced. We ordered two Carpet Bagger Burgers | the original • $18, which had absolutely no flavor at all. It wasn't juicy. We asked for one with all the trimmings on the side, yet it arrived with everything on it including bacon which we asked them to hold when we ordered. My bacon was half done. Nothing I dislike more than raw bacon on my burger. The steak fries were awesome. My other friend ordered the crab cakes and asparagus for her entree and the crab cake arrived without the asparagus which was brought out later. I left there with the worst headache I have ever experienced. Thought I was going to have to visit the ER because my head was throbbing so severely. This usually happens when the bartender uses well alcohol though I requested a French 75 with Grey Goose and champagne. It tasted different so I inquired what ingredients they used, only to find it was made with Prosecco, instead of champagne, which caused the reaction I experienced. My head didn't stop throbbing until 5:00 a.m. the next morning after taking every thing I could find in the medicine cabinet to get rid of the headache. My friend asked for cherries they brought the Maraschino cherries instead of Luxardo cherries. I expect a restaurant of this magnitude to carry Luxardo cherries. I loved the deli and the people working there. They were very kind, even came from behind the counter to open the door for us.
Several parties, including mine, waited an hour or more to be seated, and we all had reservations. The manager on duty was polite, but stated that he couldn't just make people get up and offered an apology and free appetizers. There is no sense in accepting reservations if you cannot adhere to the scheduled time. It is an inconvenience and displays poor service to those waiting tonpatronize the establishment. For that reason , I will not return, nor will I ever suggest anyone else go.
This is not the ordinary steak house. The bacon appetizer was completely unexpected with incredible flavors - especially from the lamb. I had the filet mignon and it was unparalleled. It was perfectly prepared. The service was absolutely impeccable. I haven't had that level of service anywhere in Houston.
Excellent food and service. Two things - the restaurant was over crowded to the point our chairs were literally backed into one another. Wait staff had to serve a large table behind us from the ends. Not my idea of fun. Passing plates over head! The amount of people also dictated the noise level. I loathe visiting a place where you cannot hear your guest because the ladies behind you have had a little too much wine on a Wednesday night.
It was ok experience. Our bill was 900$ and I order a wagyu ribeye stake and I want it midium but the stake was midium rare and I send it back . I didn’t like the fact that my friends were eating and I was waiting my stake to come back so I can start eating ! For so expensive restaurant this problems shouldn’t have happened. Anyway I will not go back for sure . Overall the menu was ok and the prices to hight for the quality, dosent worth the money to go back again . I can find better restaurant and similar food for cheaper dinning .
We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday brunch at B&B Butchers. The food was fresh and delicious, and the portions were generous. The Salmon Benedict was particularly noteworthy. And they were more than willing to accommodate dietary considerations in creating a meal for me.
The food was delicious...pricey, however, some dishes are definitely worth it. Our service was sub-par—it was a busy Saturday night, however, on several occasions, it took longer than needed to be served drinks, and to be checked on after being served different courses. One of our sides was left out, and wasn’t brought to our table until the main course was already served...mostly because our server didn’t check on us soon after being presented with our food.
Overpriced, dining room was super loud and we were packed in like sardines. If you like waiters consistently bumping into while you are eating and their body parts in your food, this is your place!!
Food was meh!!!
Stick to Pappas, Flemings or Smith and Wollenskys for a real steakhouse, this is just an overpriced Sizzler.
The waiter was not very friendly, he was very pushy and wouldn't allow us to relax, he was rushing us to make decisions. We asked about the Brie appetizer and he said it was not good and he didn't like it and we love Brie. I chose the place because I've been many times and talked it up to my friends that had never been. they were not impressed and will never be back. The wine is over priced by the glass, it is no where near a full glass of wine compared to any other steakhouse in Houston. The steak was over cooked even though we said medium. The ends were well done and burnt. I've never had such a bad experience here before, but I can say, I will never go bad when there are places like steak 48, Vic and Anthony's, Eddie V's, and so on. It is definitely not the same anymore.
Waiter was soft speaker, so hard to hear in loud restaurant. Was sat next to kitchen so bright light every time door opened gave me a headache getting flashes of bright light in a dark atmosphere for dinner. Food always great and consistent, other than Filet this time that was undercooked-ordered medium, came out seared rare.
My second time here, and we had a wonderful date night. The bacon appetizer is really a favorite and warrants a return visit! But the star of our meal was the phenomenal Longbone Ribeye - spectacularly dry-aged, intense beef flavor. Less than stellar - the wine we wanted (Canard cab) was not available, so what we had, instead, was not as wonderful. Also the Foie Gras to top the steak was not as generous as the seared foie gras we've had elsewhere, which was disappointing, considering the size of our steak. But that will not deter us from returning.
great lunch menu. have only been here twice -both times at lunch. last time right before christmas we had awful service but the food was really good so we wanted to come back. the day after Thanksgiving proved to be a great time to come at lunch since it was not crazy. they only
ordered two different steaks. one came out cooked wrong. by the time the second steak was corrected and back out, sides were cold. no compensation was offered. i understand it was thanksgiving day so we did not complain to management. i am just disappointed that the waiter did not take initiative.
