Ambience was really nice, However the drinks and appetizer took forever to come. Our main course was mediocre at best. The tomato sauce was extremely watery and the lemon/white wine sauce for the chicken dish was the same. Expected a bit more quality for the price.
Attentive service and good food made this a nice evening out with friends. Appetizers are large and bread is good. Entrees were tasty too.
Excellent restaurant for dinner. They never disappoint’
Food was good, service was good, nice ambiance--but incredibly noisy! Never heard it that noisy. But overall an enjoyable experience. Would recommend it to friends.
Great experience. The food never disappoints. This visit we were there for a birthday and the entire restaurant crowd joined in singing Happy Birthday!
Love the feel and ambience of this restaurant. Food is always consistent, service was well timed, and there was an energetic vibe in the place. Rock fish special was a big hit at our table as well as the risotto special. Eggplant rollatini always one of my favorite dishes.
First off Patrick is a fabulous waiter and the support staff is great and very attentive. Bravo. The food is the best Italian outside of NYC. The calamari and mozzarella with Proscutto is amazing. The food is consistent and fabulous. Great ambiance and staff.
Very nice white tablecloth restaurant, however, the food was disappointing considering the cost. Zucchini appetizer was tasteless, clams chewy and Lemon Veal (served with big orange slice on top?), sides poorly cooked. 2 appetizers, 1 entree, 1 cocktail and a glass of wine - $100 w/ tip. Not impressed.
Delicious food and excellent service, as always. Azzuro doesn’t disappoint.
One of my favorite places to eat. Staff is superior.
This restaurant runs a bit unevenly. I have had excellent meals, a poor meal, and everything in between here. My New Year's Eve experience started with a surprise truncated menu. My dining companion had already picked out an entrée and was disappointed. Given that they limited the selection down, I would have expected they were offering only the very best of their offerings. The chicken with the cognac sauce was very good. The potatoes were a bit salty and soupy. The haricot vert were good if a bit oily. The lamb offering was fairly good and cooked to order but the flavors could have used a bit more oomf and the lamb was under-seasoned. The martinis were not dry, though they were ordered to be so. I am torn as to whether to recommend this place or not because it can be quite good but it was mediocre this time, which was one time too many of an uneven experience there. I doubt I'll be back.
Christmas get together.
Food never disappoints
We love the
Is restaurant. Ambiance is lovely. Food is good. Service too
If not for the noise level I would rate this a ten.
The food ranged from good to excellent, the service was prompt but not intrusive. Staff was knowledgeable about the menu and helpful in their comments and recommendations.
Why is tea not offered with varietal coffees on the after dinner menu?
Think Tea Mansion on du Pont Circle in DC.
We have been to Azzurro every Christmas Eve for many years and it never fails to delight our family. The food is delicious and the staff is generally pleasant.
This is the best restaurant in Richmond.
Excellent dinner on Christmas Eve. Michael, our waiter, was fabulous! Well staffed overall for the holiday. Returning for New Year’s Eve!
Most recent visit was disappointing. Request for a table in the dining room could not be honored - third time this has happened to us this year. Learned from one of the receptionists that you must call the restaurant direct to get a table in the dining room - apparently open table requests are considered second class. Food also did not meet expectations based on previous visits; the lasagna was pasty and about 1" high. I no longer consider Azzurro a top tier Italian restaurant in Richmond.
Great service and great food in a quiet and romantic environment. We'll be back!
Great service delicious food well priced
Great food great service as always!!!
It’s not a bad restaurant, but you need to know it’s possible you’ll sit in a aisle near the bar and kitchen. It’s noisy and congested. For us, the service drove the low rating. We asked for a table away from the aisle and were told that was our reservation. Never mind the fact that there were several tables available in a different section. It was really the attitude of - you’ll sit where we want you to sit. So, we left. Good customer service would have made the difference. A “sorry, just live with it” approach was rude and inappropriate.
Nice place for a date!
Azzurro is a great neighborhood restaurant with excellent food, great service with a comfortable feeling of family. The portions are quite generous so my wife and I normally share an entrée. During the busy holiday season the restaurant is usually full and the noise level can be a little challenging for casual conversation.
Great food and atmosphere for business dinner or personal get-together.
Delicious food and great service. Very loud though. Not a place you go for a quiet intimate dinner. A bit pricey. Tables pretty close together. Plenty of parking. Portions are generous.
The pollo milanese was salty and tough. My wife's special was drowning in sauce. Not our first experience here but needed someplace to take guest at the last minute
Celebrating the birthday of the female member of the couple eating, she had chosen Azzurro as her place of preference this year. We were treated very well upon arrival and shown to our appropriately decorated table. The menu was broad and expansive in what was available. Our waiter was solicitous and very efficient. When the food arrived the presentation and flavor were excellent for appetizer, entrees, and desserts. In all, the evening was a success. The one caveat would be the prices, they were a bit above comparable restaurants of the same type in the area. Would we go back again, yes, but would probably select from more frugal options.
Wonderful experience at one of our favorite restaurants.
We simply do not get here often enough. Food and service is always great. We decided we need to make a habit of going more often.
Four of us had dinner at Azzurro. It's a classic Italian restaurant with a comprehensive menu. Everything we had was great. Many pasta dish choices and all were superb. The wine list is very focused - not huge - but excellent examples of most types and regions you'd want. The place is elegant but not stuffy - the right amount of "lively". All around a great experience
Too loud. But the food was amazing.
We had a nice family dinner here but things got a little overly loud when most of the 7th grade showed up for Cotillion. Terrific wait staff.
As always the food, service and atmosphere were FABULOUS!!
Friendly staff very accommodating for customer’s needs.
Amazing food and cocktails, and all of the staff is so friendly. Nothing stuffy about that place.
Mentioned it was our anniversary when I made the reservation, and they sprinkled little red hearts all over our table – a very nice touch.
Waiter was aloof , bordered on rude. The service folks were lovely and attentive.
Excellent food an ambience and a lunch well enjoyed during my very first visit to this charming restaurant.
