It was a very busy night at Axel's. We had a 7:30 reservation and had to wait about 45 minutes for our table. We were told that Open Table overbooked the restaurant. I understand those things can happen and I thought the staff did a great job keeping everyone informed of the wait times and they were very apologetic and accommodating to us. They passed out walleye finger samples several times to all who were waiting. We have been to Axel's several times and have never been disappointed. Despite our wait we had a great time along with great service and most of all great food! Our Valentine's Day celebration at Axel's was great and we will definitely be going back there again soon!

It was a bad night for Axel’s which is unusual. It’s my understanding open table overbooked. Food was obviously under the heat lamps for too long. My history with Axel’s Is not like this experience and I will be back!

Dinner was so wonderful. My husband and I loved everything about our night out from the minute we were seated to meeting our knowledgable funny waiter {Jacob}all the way through the end of the night.Steaks were cooked to our liking and melted in our mouths. Great evening .Terrific restaurant.

This Axel's has such a warm, friendly atmosphere. With Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald singing in the background, we had a swell time!

We waited an hour to be seated WITH a reservation, then waited 10 more minutes for service. We took our food to go, which took 30 minutes, and in that time we had no service. Not even a water refill. Got back with the food and my risotto was inedible. If you go here, avoid special occasions and holidays, and avoid the risotto. Stop in for a drink and make sure you have Lauren as your bartender; she was awesome!

We went to Axel's for Valentines Day dinner. When we arrived for our 6:15 p.m. reservation, the hostess told us there were a few parties they needed to seat ahead of us. We waited 25 minutes to be seated for our reservation as did many others. I know they can't control how long guests keep a table, but I believe they overbooked their reservations. Also, we were seated in the bar area and the tables were quite tight and it made conversation a bit difficult.

That said, we've been to Axel's several times and always enjoy it. The service was excellent and so were our meals.

Roland’s prime rib was fine. My wife Riita’s chicken was very dry and over cooked.,it was barely edible. The red velvet cake was excellent.

They were unprepared for the one of the busiest dining night of the year. Running late on all reservations, out of food, out of their famous pop-overs (a 20 minute wait for them to cook more of them). Ate at bar rather than wait for our table. Bartenders seemed very uninterested and slow. But the worst part was the response the manager on duty gave when I approached him on it. Acted as if I was out of hand for my expectations - given how busy they were. Axels used to be a go-to regular spot for me. It'll be a long time before I return.

We had Valentines Day reservations for 8pm. Didn’t get seated until 9pm. They’d obviously overbooked. By the time we finally ordered, they were out of the menu item we wanted. Alternative entrees were good but not great. We may come back a 2nd time to try it under less stress, but we won’t be back when they’re super-busy.

A little disappoint after my valentines dinner.

Server was decent, food was good, but we had to wait 55 minutes until we were seated despite having a reservation. I understand you never know how long people will stay so there may be a reasonable wait, but 55 minutes is ridiculous. I would think a higher-end restaurant would offer waiting customers something complimentary for the inconvenience...instead, we paid full price for drinks while we waited. Not impressed.

Probably won’t go back given the experience I had. Better options out there for the price.

The waitress that served in the bar area was very friendly and attentive and also followed up in the dinning room after our meal. The food was great as always and the wait time was acceptable.

Was VERY disappointed that we choose to come to Axel's for Valentine's day dinner. Made a reservation through Open Table about 1 month in advance. It was so overly crowded u could not move in the entrance n bar area. They must of taken all reservations and walk in without figuring out how to handle. We were not seated until 1 hour from our reservation and we came early to have a drink and checked in when we arrived. Service was very slow also as we must have sat at the table for 15 minutes before we even saw our waitress. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Crab leg night, but no crab legs available for our 6:30 reservations.

Ambiance was good, but the service and food was not acceptable for the price. The steak was way over cooked and chewy.
