A good quality in food and service, but probably too noise
Food and service were good. Place was too noise
Never disappointing! Food and atmosphere is always perfect ...
food is always good if priced too too high. Stay away from # by the pound# and it's much more reasonable
While this is one of my favorite places to eat because of the delicious and consistent food, our server this evening was extremely indifferent and obviously uninterested in doing her job. She forgot our food order and skipped a course never apologized and really didn't care. Service is important especially when you are paying handsomely for your meal.
Beautiful restaurant with amazing energy. Food was beautiful and delicious. Lovely restaurant.
This restaurant was a recommendation from a friend and I was so very pleased with my experience. As we were entering the restaurant, a patron exiting the establishment said we were going to enjoy our dinner because the food is delicious - well she was spot on! From ambiance, to the incredibly scrumptious food, presentation and exceptional service, I would rate this restaurant with 5 stars.
I will return to Avra again and highly recommend others to make reservations as well!
Was our 25th anniversary. The entire meal and service was exceptional. We were treated to a nice surprise for desert and the staff was fantastic.
nice recovery when entrée sent back
Octopus and Branzino both great.
Best greek restaurant in New York. We were serviced by Marios, he made our lunch even better. Ask for him when you get there.
Hostesses had a bit of an attitude.
They sat us over an hour late with reservations and were unapologetic about it. In fact the last time we inquired about our table the hostess said “we are still waiting and perhaps we can go over there and do better.” Had that been said to me instead of my colleague who told me after the fact I would have asked to see a manager. I have eaten there several times before with much better experience. I was very disappointed.
Upscale Greek restaurant with vibrant bar scene. Always full. Large menu and up to date foodie palate. But be prepared to pay a lot of this see and be seen location.
Excellent all around! Fantastic seafood!!
This was our first time dining here and so were unprepared for the noise level- clearly a happening place. While the noise was loud, we weren’t bothered until a party of three women were seated next to us. Their conversation was so loud we couldn’t have a conversation ourselves. My husband spoke to a waiter and the next moment, we were offers a table in the lower level. Those in the know request to be seated there. It was fantastic. Quiet, yet busy and the service was attentive. We so appreciated the thoughtful, unfussy way this was dealt with. It made an enormous difference in our experience. We can’t wait to go again.
It was outstanding!
Went for dinner with my large family before a show. Food was extremely fresh, simple, and flavorful. Several family members comments included the phrase, "Best seafood I've ever had!" Service was impeccable. Not cheap, at about $55/person. But well worth it for a special occasion. An important part of a perfect evening out in NYC!
Fabulous dinner with great ambiance. Food was amazing from the appetizers to the main course. Service was incredible! Our server Abigail was terrific. She was very personable, very knowledgeable about the dishes as well as the wine. Overall it was a great time!
This is the kind of place you hope for when you’re looking for Greek food in New York City. Authentic flavor - it’s a huge place that has a great buzz. The food tastes delicious and the menu has good choices. Even the pita bread tastes unique. It’s a flat bread that is soft, not a puffy piece of dough. Try the vegetable chips appetizer. We went on Saturday and it was brunch time. The lobster hash was incredible. Very unique. Staff was nice and helpful b
Delightful and delicious!!
I called twice to verify if they offer the prefix lunch menu on Saturdays. I was skeptical being the weekend. At both locations they confirmed it was available. I have enjoyed the quality, selection and value offered on the lunch prefix menu offered. However I was disappointed to find that they only offer the brunch menu. I wasn't a big fan of the brunch offered. Just disappointed that I was misinformed.
Birthday celebration. Delicious food and wonderful, attentive service. Expensive but worth it.
Always a great tome at Avra Madison any occasion it’s perfect
Fabulous meal - as good as original location. Beautiful ambiance allowing for easy conversation. Tables spread a bit further apart than original location. Service impeccable.
Extremely friendly and helpful service. We sat in the back room that is quiet. We had goat cheese salad and veal dish and duck dish. Both were memorable. Cocktails were also delicious.
Every course took FOREVER!
What is not to love about Avra! Fabulous food, amazing service and elegant atmosphere. I was disappointed that with a reservation, We had to wait almost an hour to be seated. I saw people coming after us and seating before us. I would of expected at the very least to be told how late they were running so I can decide if I wanted to stay or leave.
Business related dinner party. Excellent choice.
Simply put: “ The best food in town!”
Delicious appetizers and fish amazingly fresh and tasty!
Make sure to order the baklava dessert; It’s out of this world !!!
As usual, both the meal and entire dining experience were terrific. This is one of New York’s great restaurants.
always a pleasure to eat here. but if you don't like crowed places then this is not the place I suggest
Great ambience, excellent service good choices
Great place Fantastic food
Just OK. Service was perfunctory at best. There was no offer to take us to the fish counter and a rushed description of the specials. Food was served en masse, sort of like at a wedding, as opposed to a fine dining experience. To be fair, food tasted fine, but service was no where close to where it should be at this price point. Won’t be returning.
Excellent staff!! Great service.Atmosphere is upbeat, busy, trendy.
I love this location. However, important to request the main dining room when making a reservation. I did not do that so ended up sitting behind the raw fish display...as a result, my guests were not impressed.
From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome. Staff is courteous and attentive, they seem to be proud of their work, which trickles down to every aspect of the restaurant. Great for dressy or more casual occasions, somehow all are comfortable. While it would make a great date night, it is also a wonderful place for family. Atmosphere is modern yet inviting, there is a freshness in the appearance and especially a freshness in the food. The seafood options were outstanding.
Very good food and attentive knowledgeable service. Very loud
The dining experience at Avra was excellent. The dining room is bright and vibrant, but not too noisy. The food was excellent.
We had the octopus and the zucchini and eggplant chips as starters to share. Be aware, servings on these appetizers were large. For mains, we had the Sea Bass, the Dorado en papillote, and the halibut. All were reasonably sized portions, with excellent accompaniments. We had a lovely Ribiero del Duero wine ($85) with the meal. We shared a creme brûlée and sorbets (pomegranate, passion fruit, raspberry) and had coffees.
Dinner came to approximately $125 a person with drinks, starters, mains, dessert, coffee, tax and 20% tip.
