My boy Mikes birthday holiday!
Great food, and service; noise level higher on ground level due to bar next to dining room, fresh fish table for selection is great.
Lovely ambience and a great meal
Terrible. Waited for almost one hour and, even with a reservation, they gave us a place at the bar.
Will never be back
My reservation was at 8,30 at 9,15 we were still waiting for the table.... we left
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC
AMAZING / DELICIOUS grilled octopus
This is my favorite place to dine in the upper east side. Consistently excellent!
Excellent all the way! Great food, great service and great ambiance! We will be back soon
A terrific dining experience in every way. From greeting to seating and service, the staff is energetic and engaged. The downstairs area has a great feel. The menu has greek classics - all beautifully prepared. You will have a great meal in a wonderful setting.
A little on the pricier side. I’m not sure why Greek restaurants in the city are so expensive when you can get the same quality if not better food at a pricier Italian restaurant for less.
Loved the food and the staff was super attentive.
Sin dudas una gran y muy amena experiencia culinaria que me lleva a tener que regresar en mi próxima visita a NY. Muy recomendable, excelente comida, buen servicio y precios adecuados.
Love the place beautiful! Food quality is amazing! Fresh food and friendly service! Love the trees by the table!
Staff is incredibly attentive and efficient, food was unreal. I was weeping over my Chilean sea bass because it was so incredible I got emotional (pair with a glass of champagne because why not). The hummus starter hit the spot and definitely tap into the staffs knowledge of oysters because I learned I have an affinity for specific regions along the east coast and that was a fun highlight from the evening also.
We were sat near the bar which was loud and uncomfortable
Second time I ate at this price fix lunch. Food delicious. Dining room beautiful, plenty of space between tables. Seasonally decorated.
I've eaten at the Avra on 48th, and it was very good, but I much prefer the 60th location. The layout seems bigger and it definitely is brighter and prettier. Our server was pleasant, funny and helpful with both choosing wine and meals. I started with the grilled octopus which was delicious, and a Greek salad. I would definitely go back and definitely recommend.
Great restaurant, although a little over priced. However never fails to impress
Our visit to AVRA was very nice. We had a good table in a quieter section at the back and were serviced by a very attentive and efficient waiter. The main course was a delicious white snapper cooked to perfection. What we struggled with were the salad selections. They were ordinary and disappointing. Also the side dishes were weak in selection. We finally settled on a brocoli rabe which was boring. Overall the wine and main course were excellent and we had a nice evening.
We (a table of four adults) were seated in the downstairs dining room. The water feature at the bottom of the stairs, with the planter hanging above it, was spectacular. The stone wall opposite the stair case also provided a pleasant view. The noise level downstairs was significantly quieter than upstairs; for that reason, I would recommend asking to be seated downstairs.
The grilled calamari appetizer was delicious. The fish entrees were numerous. Among us, we chose the octopus appetizer (served as an entrée), the arctic char, and the swordfish. We each enjoyed our selections.
One couple had been to the 48th street site and noted that although the menu appears to be the same, the atmosphere at the 60th street location is more upscale. The 60th street location, in the first block east of 5th is also easy to get to by cab or when walking.
Excellent dining as always! The staff is so friendly and accommodating! Even great with children! I’ll always come to Avra any time I’m in NY. The food is delicious and fresh. Easily one of the best restaurants in Manhattan for me!
They made us wait for one hour after our reservation....Not a good thing
Love everything about this restaurant.
Going to Avra on a regular basis, I love the food, always so fresh, the servers giving explanation for everything we ask, and even if we order only 1 glass of wine they let us taste it before.
And of course the ambiance is always great.
Another excellent dinner at Avra. It was our friends' first time and they enjoyed it very much.
Great food & great restaurant!
And a real neighborhood gem!
We sat towards the back of the restaurant which was less noisy than the front. The food was
all great! From the appetizers to the dessert, all 5 of us loved our lunches. And the service
was very attentive.
Spectacular as always. The food is delicious and never disappoints. Attentive service. Love the ambiance.
I love this restaurant. Always excellent. The octopus and all fish are fab!
Amazing experience! Picked this spot for our anniversary dinner, the service was fantastic, the food was world class... The grilled octopus is a must!! The next time we're in New York, we will definitely be visiting again.
It is over rated and over priced. The service is terrible. Our waiter rarely came to our table. I had to get the busboy from another area to get me a new wine glass, more hummus and no one ever came over to refresh the water.
We couldn’t even get the waiter’s attention to get our check. We had to get a busboy from another area to tell him to bring it.
The coat check was backed up and the hostess had to seat us and take our coats . She told us to take pictures of the checks just in case they couldn’t find our coats later. She was right. The girl couldn’t find my coat and she asked me to describe it even with the tickets.
They are too busy and they lack service . I left not feeling that my meal with my husband was not worth 600$ for 2 people .
The manager was very pleased with himself that he gave us a dessert on the house and offered me a different main dish. He threw that up in my face. I wonder if he would have done those things if my husband didn’t give him a gracious gratuity at the beginning of our dinner .
Chaotic scene - people with reservations waiting for 30-60 minutes - lots of angry people... Unpleasant waiting experience. Also noisy. Once seated, food and service were fine.
Fantastic!! One of my favorite restaurants in NYC!
Wonderful staff, attentive and the food was all delicious
The food was delicious, the service was prompt, our server Conor gave us detailed explanations of every item when we inquired, and the prix fixe choices couldn’t be more varied and delicious. A bang for your buck!!!! One of my best dining experiences in NYC, and the restaurant is beautifully decorated to boot. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
They always take a LONG time to seat you. You literally have to hassle to get your table.
Dinner was fabulous. The table was perfect. Energy spectacular. Thank you Rebecca and her colleagues.
