Avola Kitchen + Bar
The food at Avola was very good, however the service was really bad. Our server came back a couple of times only after we had to ask the bus person (who’s a minor) to ask him for drink refills. We had ordered a bunch of starters to share, and he never came back to ask if we wanted to order meals. This restaurant has potential because the food was really good (especially the fried artichokes and mussels in white wine sauce), but they really need to work with their staff to be more attentive to their customers.
Food was great but the two people we interacted with made it a Brest experience
The guy who greeted us( might be owner or manager) put up with dumb questions and offered extra info
And our server LYDIA handled special request and made the meal way better than just flavorful
We determined she is NOT Lydia the tattooed lady
(google it if you’re young)
Great evening had by all. Joe, our attentive and fantastic server made the expert perfect. Food at Avola never disappoints.
Nice date night spot. We Sat on the patio which was enjoyable. The menu offered a robust cocktail selection and the wine selections had a decent variety too. The pastas were handmade and well done. Overall, I would return!
Wonderful gem. Food and cocktails fresh and delicious.
Great food, great cocktail selection, friendly and knowledgeable waiter. Will definitely go back.
Fabulous food, service was a bit spotty with long waits for our drinks on our last visit. Food was great, as always. Biggest downside to this place every time we have been there on a Friday night (about 6 times), there is always one young lady who isn’t a server but more of a water glass refiller/busser. She always comes up when we are mid-chewing to ask about our meals. It’s weird and random b/c she’s not our server & she’s dressed super casual so she doesn’t seem to be a manager either. she has a bad habit of trying to take away our plates when we’re still eating (even when our forks are in-hand and aimed at plate?) & she took a half-full $16 glass of wine last time we went. Good news is our server quickly got me a replacement glass of wine.
The food and drinks are always top notch. This is our "Go To" for a consistently awesome experience
This was a nice find right off the turnpike slip ramp at Malvern. The food was fantastic - the crispy artichoke app was a great start, and then my wife and I enjoyed tasting each other's entrees - a house salad, Margherita pizza and the sausage gemelli, all of which was house made. For dessert we split an olive oil cake which was also very tasty. Service was very friendly, but it was a slow night overall so the service was a bit slow as well. We sat outside since it was a very nice night, but the table and chairs were covered in pollen (hard to fault them for that!) so I may have sat inside if given a 2nd chance. The interior is very nice and comfortable looking. Overall, I would recommend the restaurant and would REALLY recommend the crispy artichoke!
Best restaurant experience in quite a while. Exceptional service and amazing food. Can’t wait to go back!
Hidden gem. Food is great, staff is very friendly.
Very good food and service. Nice live music
Drinks, food, and dessert was amazing as always. Service was wonderful! Lindsay was attentive and gave wonderful suggestions. Can’t wait to come back!
Very loud in there. Acoustics need to be addressed in the main room
We had one of the worst meals in recent memory at Avola. (And we aren’t normally complainers- this is my first Open Table review in many years).we arrived a bit early for our reservation. The noise level inside was high, so we asked to be seated outside, even though it was chilly.
We were greeted and received drinks rather promptly, but everything went downhill from there. My husband ordered the hanger steak, medium rare. The waiter asked if it was ok to substitute asparagus for the broccoli, which was what was printed on the menu- no problem. I ordered the branzino. After about a 20 minute wait, the waiter told us that they were out of hanger steak and asked if it was ok to substitute a strip steak- my husband said ok.
It took one hour and twenty minutes to receive our food from the time we arrived. A server, not our waiter, threw the dishes down on our table, murmured “sorry,” and quickly left. Nothing on my husband’s plate was as he had originally ordered: a large, but tough and flavorless steak, carrots rather than the promised asparagus, and a half potato stuffed with cheese and spinach instead of the lyonnaise potatoes ordered. My branzino was well cooked with a nice crisp crust on one side- I’m not certain that it was grilled on the wood fire, as promised. The fish broth with clams was inedible- it was mostly slices of garlic. The asparagus was pale, and swimming in the broth. The rice and side salad were tasty. The waiter did return to repeat that he was sorry, and ask if everything was alright. We were so hungry, and in such a rush to have the experience end, that we said it was ok.
The kicker was when the bill arrived. We were not charged the $38 for the original hanger steak meal, which was what was ordered, but $40 for a meal that appeared nowhere on the menu.
As I said before, we are not generally complainers. Our complaint will be that we never return.
Good first experience here! Really great food, just wish there had been a few more options on the dinner menu. Other than that it was clean, great service, yummy drinks and great food. We’re happy we tried it!
The food was spectacular which was unexpected since it was a limited menu Mothers Day Brunch. The wait staff was attentive. Enjoyed it.
Interesting menu and food was very good. Pasta was homemade and tasty. Service was very attentive and pleasant. Overall a good experience. We'll be back.
The noise level was terrible. The live music also terrible.
nice decor, good music, but limited menu from last time we were there. may just be the ongoing pandemic. Great Cocktails!!!
Avila feels like being in a warehouse with no noise control. It was so loud that we couldn't hear the music. We began with the artichoke appetizer which they cut into pieces and fried. I expected whole artichokes. The pieces sat on some kind sauce, which there wasn't much of, so you couldn't dip into it. The artichokes were dull tasting. The caesar salad was tasteless and covered in cheese. The mussels were okay freshness wise but lacked flavor in the white sauce. The bill was high, like "special evening" high. Not worth it, will not return. Nothing to recommend.
Liked eating in the bar area. Food is good; a bit overpriced. A safe bet, but nothing stellar.
We sat out on the patio and the weather was perfect. Service was very attentive and the good was very good, as it always is. We had bronzino and paella and they were both well prepared and very tasty. Since the restaurant sits on a busy highway, it can be a little noisy outside, but it wasn't bad.
Very pleasant. Outdoor heaters kept us comfortable. Red mussels 5*
Always a good experience. Servers are courteous and are continuously checking on you. Food is excellent.
A very nice outing with family, good food and drinks. Nowadays it's always good to get out in a safe and welcoming place.
Excellent drinks and the food was impeccable as usual! We enjoyed muscles artichokes pizza and a rigatoni special and their desert panna cotta was out of this world! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Overpriced food, service was slow and server forgot about us. Never asked to refill drinks.
We always have a great meal at Avola! We are always surprised that it is not more crowded.
Thank You so much, we really appreciate this it means so much to us we love the feedback!
The restaurant had tables spaced well apart and made us feel comfortable. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly and answered all our questions about the menu. It was quiet while we were there early on a Saturday evening. I had a huge bowl of spicy mussels with nicely toasted bread to sop up the yummy sauce.(Would have liked a spoon to get the remaining sauce) For an entre, I chose the steel head trout which was delicious. A very generous portion of perfectly cooked fish with a crispy top, a tasty eggplant and tomato salad (zaalouk) and piperade. My very particular dinner partner had the house salad with the vinaigrette dressing which was 'not too vinegary'. She asked that her black ink linguine scampi be prepared without several ingredients and no seasoning. The chef paid enough attention to her requests to send the waitstaff back out to ask if she wanted the garlic and shallots. The dish was perfectly seasoned for her taste but only had mussels and was missing the shrimp and clams described on the menu. They quickly made it right and offered dessert on the house to make up for their mistake. Definitely worth a return visit.
Avola kitchen does not disappoint! Delicious unique cocktails, amazing appetizers, fresh selections makes it hard to decide where to start! Take a friend who likes to share so you can sample more than 1 thing! We sat on the patio and they even provided small throws as there was a little breeze - but between that and the heaters what a wonderful comfortable way to enjoy a delicious meal and a few drinks!
Awesome food, great ambiance and great service. We will definitely be back!
Food was amazing but the service was a little slow. The server was wonderful but said that the kitchen was backed up. We weren't in a hurry so it was ok with us. I had the bronzino and the broth with clams that was served over it was delicious.
We went early (5:30) on a Friday night. We had a quiet table throughout our stay.
We had a great experience here! Our meals and drinks were delicious. Great outdoor seating options and indoor.
Unfortunately it was our first time back since COVID hit. We remembered it as a place with great food and wonderful service. The food was good but the service was not. We were so disappointed. Every meal at a restaurant is as good as the last one only. This is the one that you remember the most. So it may be a while before we venture out to Avola again.
Amazing! Cannot wait to visit again ASAP.
Had dinner with a girlfriend and we both had delicious meals. We split the mussel appetizer and she had a chicken dish and I had the fish. The restaurant felt COVID-19 safe. It was great.
Awesome as always!!! Great food and drinks and outstanding service from Ben & Wes!!
I’ve been to Avola before and loved it and will try it again for sure.... was a bit disappointed as my dish was extremely spicy and unexpected as was my husbands and he likes spicy food! I really like the atmosphere and my Caesar salad was wonderful! Service was adequate for not being overly busy.... I will try again another time as historically it has been very good!
