Rootin' tootin', down & dirty BBQ. No Frills, no nonsense, it’s all about the meat and we're smoking every day. Our badass Pit Boss will be running the smoker, heading up the red-hot coals to create smoky, char-encrusted proteins of perfection. His knowledge is deep and his dedication to slow n' low smoked BBQ ensures 'you don't need no teef to eat our beef'. It's all about the technique and Brisket is our holy grail, imported from the states and oak smoked for that full round flavour. Our Southern style BBQ is dry seasoned with an Austen's rub and served straight from the smoker. NOLA fried shrimp Po'boys, pulled pork hush puppies, with pickled watermelon & pulled Jack fruit for the veggies - so good it'll make you want to slap your granny.

I was really really looking forward to eating some great Ribs Etc, Unfortunately the food was very poor, There was not any buffalo wings to start and the Ribs for our main course were very very undercooked and tough, all served on a tin tray, for desert we had key lime pie which i left most of it as it was horrible. I am really sorry to write this but is was awful and would never go there again.

Austens is surprisingly a very good smokehouse. Being situated in kensal rise we did expect a little over the top prices with not too great value, as the area likes to be posh. But that was NOT the case at all. The food was very good and good value. The ambience is relaxed and lots of detail has gone into creating the restaurant, which makes for a great experience. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We had a range of sides and mains. The pulled pork and the half rack of ribs were absolutely delicious and definitely worth recommending. We will for sure be back!

I am a huge meat lover so no doubt a bit of American style barbecue is a dream come true for me. The missus and I visited austens and decided to go for the sampler for our first visit to the establishment. Luckily for me the wife doesn't have the biggest appetite so with a couple of sides this worked out to be the ideal amount of food. You get a good selection of bits in the sample including some delicious ribs, pulled pork and brisket. The food I couldn't flaw for quality, but as a few friends have told me in the past, portions are a little on the small side for those with big appetites. Austens have their own lager and I would recommend it to all beer drinkers, had a nice smooth taste and complimented the meat perfectly. We went the whole hog and decided to go for dessert, I had the cookie and ice cream and enjoyed it immensely the other half had the key lime pie and enjoyed it but was not overwhelmed. Overall a very good dining experience, just let down a little on value for money...

Waitress was not that attentive, and didn't know her pork from her beef, but o guess she was friendly. Food was tasty, but I won't be rushing back.

Tasty food, served quickly by a lovely, friendly waitress. We were told that the place has been buzzing for months, but was deathly quiet the night we were there because it is January. Looking forward to experiencing it when its buzzing again - its great to have something like this locally. Definitely worth a visit.

Wow, I've been dreaming about the ribs here ever since I ate here a few days ago. Epically good. Short ribs, amazingly tender, great flavour and delicious coleslaw and sweet potato fries. When you need a carb overload this is the place. Especially recommended for the hungover...ha. A fantastic new option for the area and I'm sure it gets pretty vibe-y at the weekend. I went on a Tuesday evening so fairly quiet but there are decks downstairs as part owned by DJ Yoda so I'm sure there are some fun nights to be had here.... Check it out.

Really fun, good vibe, reminiscent of similar places in the US - authentic, delicious food. One gripe is that, compared to US equivalents, portions are on the small side and quite pricey. Still, really great place (nice beer too).

I booked a family meal here as an escape without the kids. The location was ideal as we could walk there and the service was really good however the food was disappointing. A few of us didn't feel so good afterwards and one of the chicken legs was extremely pink. The waitress tried to say it was just the marinade but i'm not so sure. I'd love this restaurant to succeed but it needs to raise its game. I wouldn't recommend sorry
