It's what you get when you are committed to your community, your friends and your family. After almost 20 years of working in fine dining establishments, Northeast Ohio native, and classically trained Chef James Balchak has moved back home for a new venture: Aurelia, an American-style bistro.

“Local fresh” is the theme of Aurelia, the JB Restaurant Group’s first restaurant. As Chef James Balchak defines it, “I believe in Northeast Ohio; the food will be sourced from local farms, fisheries and suppliers. All food products will be fresh and seasonal and the menu will change based on what is available during the season or on that day.” The New American-style bistro will offer a wide variety of high quality food in an upscale, yet causal environment at reasonable prices.

Came here for birthday dinner. While there did seem to be a lot of Indian inspired dishes which were delicious, I would have appreciated some more variety in the menu. Very sad they’re closing, dying breed of farm to table. I don’t understand why we don’t have more of Aurelia type places in NEO with all of our farms and local food. Their community inspiration and footprint will be missed.

For the first time, our dinner experience was not good. Food came out not as warm as it should. Portions for the 2 birria taco order (tortilla filler) were extremely small. And when sharing this comment with the server, he said all is pre-portioned in the kitchen, instead if saying (“I will let my manager know”.

Reservation for 6pm, arrived on time. Service was awful. Ordered a bottle of wine. It’s the only thing that was served on time. Waiter disappeared (same guy who stiffed us at happy hour a couple weeks ago). 7:30, 3 different entrees were delivered, none of what was ordered. At 8:10, finally hunted the waiter down and asked for bill. He delivered the bill and said if I wait a few more minutes, he’d wrap my entree to take away. WTF. I didn’t order carry out. Wife and I had gotten a babysitter for our date night. Complete disaster of an evening. No dinner, 3 hours of a babysitter, dissatisfied customers.

The service was for the drinks, but it was very difficult to get his attention to take our dinner order. The food was incomplete. They had a fish salad that was supposed to have mushrooms and asparagus included in it, but it wasn't. The waiter had to go back to the kitchen to bring it out to us. He only brought out enough for one of us.

Food was good but limited menu and no specials the night we went (Sat). Service was terrible though - waiter never checked in again after taking our order. Would not revisit
