Normally love ATX Cocina but I will say I was disappointed by the current experience. With C19 precautions (which overall I appreciate!) it was basically a take out order but paying a premium to eat it on their patio. Very limited menu and almost no real service. Food even came out in to go containers which kind of killed the point of eating out at all for me since we still had to plate everything ourselves. Also we had to hunt someone down to close our tab and pay because no one was checking in on us. I’ll come back when it’s all the way re-opened again but definitely not before then unfortunately.
We had reservations on the patio and were told we needed to wear masks to walk down the sidewalk to the patio. We didn’t have one so they provided one so that was nice. We were told we could take them off when we got to our table on the patio and we did. After that, virtually everyone who was brought to their table did not have a mask on. Why? We got our drinks and appetizers and about 45 minutes later still no food. No one asked about it until we inquired. .. just so you know.
Wife and I really like this place, especially the food! Nice people watching, great bartenders and wait staff. A little stuffy at entry desk. Otherwise great. Perhaps our favorite restaurant.
It was terrific!! The food was amazing!! Phil was great too!!
Great as always
Service was fantastic! Matt came and said hello, and our waiter was kind enough to come our guac and dessert because we were celebrating a birthday. Also got a nice card from the staff which was completely unexpected! Cheers
We sat outside so the ambiance wasn’t as great because it was a cloudy day, but the inside area seemed great and the outside area on a nice sunny day would be beautiful. The food was great but a little pricey. Love that they have small tapas plates to share!
The food was truly extraordinary. This is not your typical Tex-Mex type food. ATX Cocina was truly authentic Mexican food with great empesadas, quesadillas, chips and various flavors of salsa. Our waitress was truly amazing in how she explained the menu items to us and was very prompt in assisting us when needed. I strongly recommend visiting here.
Beautifully executed food, knowledgeable waitstaff, but zero patio ambiance. They need to get some music and a pop of color out there.
Amazing meal. Definitely visit
Stuck up, get over yourselves. 30 minutes late seating us and another patron told me we were profiled. Basically, not cool enough to be in their restaurant. Very stuck up waitstaff and not at all worth dealing with their collective bad attitude.
Fantastic food and service! Can’t recommend them enough.
We had a horrible experience with the hostess and the food was really off. First time I’ve ever experienced that at this restaurant
As usual, the food was amazing. And, as usual, it was too loud to really talk at all especially since our table was in the bar area (even though our reservation was for outside seating). The food and drinks are always good but we are always shocked when the bill comes - and we just moved from NYC so we are not unfamiliar with big tabs.
Long story short - great food for a great big price.
Great food, sopes were delicious and guacamole was tasty, best dish was quest fundido.
It was a perfect place to take a client.
Amazing food. Chef kills it and service is amazing. One of my favs 🔥🔥💪💪
Wow. Just Wow. This Oaxacan based restaurant can give La Calenda (Thomas Keller's Oaxacan offering in Yountville) a run for it's money. Simply amazing food, drinks and service. Sat outside (which was perfect), but word of warning, if you plan to have a quiet conversation inside....it won't happen! Joint was jumping at it was Monday night.
A festive, flavor-forward addition to the scene in ATX. Nouvelle Mexican is not a commonplace experience outside of very large cities, including Mexico City and Austin is lucky enough to have a number of entries in this category. Recipes were inventive, the food was fresh, the seasoning was spot on and the creativity of the kitchen was on display. The atmosphere warms as the sun sets bring the space to life with strategic lighting, properly themed music and excellent people watching, both inside and outside of the restaurant. Service was attentive and informative without being to mechanized and omnipresent. On the pricey side so those who are more budget aware might want to steer clear. That said, Happy Hour is a nice bargain and offers up some nice options.
All-in-all, high marks. I will be back!
La mejor comida
This place is amazing. I always take my friends and family here for dinner or happy hour because I know it's going to be fabulous food and great vibes. The house margarita, the guacamole, and the chicken tinga tacos are my all time favorite. Although, everything on the menu is delicious and authentic.
Great location and ambiance for a good night of food and drinks.
Everything was really good. The food was excellent and prices reflected the quality. Noise level while “energetic” was loud... not the place for a quiet conversation... overall, if you’re looking for an upscale take on Mexican food, it’s excellent.
First trip to ATX Cocina, but hopefully not the last. Food was well prepared, creative, pretty, and best of all, delicious. Service was relaxed but attentive, with the single exception of the gap between the first plate delivery and the rest of the table receiving its food. Minor snag in an otherwise exceptional evening. Be sure to try the Duck Carnitas - worth the trip on their own. The Queso Fundido, though a staple, along with the homemade tortillas, was also excellent.
Over priced like most high-end restaurants in Austin.
Just overall amazing. Food and service was so good!!!
The gourmet gluten-free cuisine was outstanding, and because of the “dedicated gluten-free” kitchen policy, it was pure joy to watch my celiac husband ordering and appreciating lots of different dishes. He was the host of our group, and he ordered multiple appetizers for the group, plus ordered extra dishes for the group to be able to sample a variety of things. He asked that the carne asada be sliced so everyone could easily try it, since the waiter had recommended it, but no one ordered it as their main dish. We had a great waiter and a fun evening at ATX Cocina!
Date night for us was amazing! Matt and the staff are friendly and make sure you feel welcomed! Can’t wait to go back.
Dress up, sit inside, talk loud cause it’s loud! But I’m sure everyone is talking about how good the food is! Elevated Mexican you’ll not be disappointed.
Unique modern Mexican flavors! Amazing, crafted cocktails. Near Lady Bird lake in beautiful downtown Austin. I was quite delighted by all the flavors.
Delicious food and great service. Unfortunately at the end of the expensive meal we were still very hungry, portions could be larger.
The foot was amazing. The flavors were phenomenal. An amazing array of spices and chiles.
Per the usual, great service and fantastic food/drinks.
The main courses were fabulous. I did find a bone and scare in the red snapper crude, but it is fish and is bound to happen. the duck carnitas were fabulous! Along with the barbacoa and carne asada. The drinks were very original and fabulous. The only real complaint I had was the dessert. I'm a huge flan lover and the corn like flan that was served, actually just tasted like corn. The Desserts were the disappointment of the night but they were comped as the chocolate cake we had was so hard we couldn't dig into it. Overall though, I will be going back to try out the rest of the menu. The server was very knowledgeable as well and guided us through the whole menu.
Took over an hour to get dinner after we ordered. Was pretty disappointing. Brought to our servers attention three times. Lamb dinner was over cooked. Cool setting, but left a lot to be desired.
Amazing food and drinks, phenomenal service, and awesome restaurant. Already want to come again so I can try more on the menu!!
Really good food. Great customer service. Perfect place for a date!
Love this place. Highly recommend!
