Good food and Bloody Marys. Waiter was very helpful explaining the specials and drinks.
This was my first visit, and everything at this brunch was stellar — from the punch of the day and Bloody Mary bar to the boudin balls and amazing duck confit ... So amazing, can’t wait to return.
The food was excellent; the service was horrible! While I would love to go back for the food, I won’t go back because of the service.
This restaurant will surprise you. It looks like a little house which cannot have a lot of room for guests but it turns out to be a wonderful restaurant with great seating arrangements. Be warned, even mid-week reservations are STRONGLY recommended. A party of more than six might find it difficult to get in anytime after 6:30 without reservations.
The noise level is surprisingly low, even when full.
The food is excellent and the proprietor (Tony) is there to take you to y our table and make you feel comfortable.
If you visit New Orleans, Atchafalaya is a must stop. The brunch is amazing. They take brunch dishes to a new level. Try the breakfast sausage sandwich...you will not be disappointed. Generous portions and the flavor combination is out of this world.
Atchafalaya was without a doubt, my favorite restaurant in NOLA. Yes, there are many fine restaurants, however, no one does Southern favorites quite like this fun establishment. We went on a Sunday for brunch. It was a hot August morning and the restaurant has water outside for those that didn’t make a reservation. We ordered a couple of mimosas and listened to the trio that was playing by the bar. Very smooth touch; thank you, owners! We were seated upstairs immediately and our server was Justin. He was awesome; very friendly and efficient. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits, my friend had the Oyster Benedict. Not that we needed it but we had to order a biscuit. I’ve ordered shrimp and grits from Charleston to Atlanta to NOLA; none has ever hit the mark like the Chef does at Atchafalaya. If your not into heads and tails, ask your server to leave them in the kitchen. The depth of flavor of the shrimp broth, the creamiest grits and slightly blackened shrimp make an amazing dish. My friend, very much enjoyed her Fried Oyster Benedict, commenting on the smokiness of the greens. As if the bounty wasn’t enough, there was the biscuit that was the size of a pastry. Oh, my was it delish and served with fresh peach jam. I was so satiated, I flew home to CA and was pleasantly full all day. Looking forward to going back soon.
Love the food. Love the bloody mary bar. Such a cool vibe. Love the live music for brunch! We come here every time we visit NOLA. Fried green tomatoes are a must. Crepe is delicious, as are all the waffles. However, the peach biscuit pain perdue was just ok. But otherwise, so delicious! We saw a fried chicken on a biscuit type dish passed by and our mouths watered. So yummy, as are all the salads and sandwiches. A MUST FOR BRUNCH!!!!! BEST SIDE OF POTATOES IN. THE. WORLD!!!!
We have wanted to try Atchafalaya since it has opened and the wait did not disappoint! We dined there for brunch to celebrate our 20th anniversary and everything was delicious. Thank you for an amazing meal and for treating us like family!
This place was amazing.. BLOODY MARY BAR & the DUCK HASH were the highlights but EGGS ATCHAFALAYA def did not disappoint! Will be back someday!!
Really hardy wagyu pastrami sandwich & New Orleans style eggs Benedict with greens. Nice Bloody Mary bar with fresh tomato mix and all the accoutrement Had a great waiter named Justin. Good experience!
Went to brunch for my birthday and the staff was so nice. The food was great too!
We were treated so kindly from the moment we walked in the door. Service was incredible and food was delicious. We will definitely return!
We really loved our brunch! Food was excellent and the service was outstanding.
Amazing. Just amazing. A hidden gem of a brunch with flavors and an experience that doesn’t get enough buzz. Service staff was helpful and polite and the menu has a lot of fun foodie yet traditional stick to ya ribs favorites. If you are touring NOLA, this is the place you can brag about finding. If you live here, this is the place that gets to be yours.
I adored this restaurant in the Garden district . The food was outstanding, the best I have eaten in America . After Mediocre and expensive offerings in California and the East coast it was so welcoming to have amazing and locally sourced southern food with a twist . Well done .
Excellent service and food. Love this place.
If you go to this restaurant for brunch, make sure to make a reservation. I had a reservation and still had to wait for 15 minutes. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and very accommodating. The live band was great, and the food was delicious! I enjoyed my experience!
I had not been to Atchafalaya in years and it was as good as I remember. With all the new restaurants popping up in New Orleans, good food and service are hit-or-miss. But, my dining experience was excellent! SIX STARS. The Neville Brother was a wonderful extra bonus.
Awesome experience - Everyone seemed to really want you to have a great experience with excellent food!
Excellent brunch experience. Justin was a top-notch server!
My family had reservations at Atchafalaya on Saturday night. We were invited to get drinks at the bar while our table was set up. The bartender was very friendly and went off menu to make me a great cocktail. Once we were seated, our service was impeccable and the food was equally great. Highly recommend the Drum entree. Great food, great drinks, great service!
everything was great, but i specifically chose Atchafalaya because it was on the COOLinary list and then when we asked for the COOLinary menu we were told it was only offered M-Th, which seemed dishonest (guess i just missed it in the fine print somewhere.)
Brunch was very good. Food and service was good and attentive. Jazz combo was a little loud for conversation.
My sister was in town
Fantastic service from Justin. Amazing food. Brilliant music. The best restaurant we experienced in NOLA by far!
This is my favorite restaurant in New Orleans. Or at least this was my favorite restaurant in New Orleans. For a long time I LOVED the food at the restaurant. Then a chef left. That happens. There was a new chef so now I couldn't find the food that made me LOVE this restaurant. Fine. I get used to a new chef. I find new food I like. Different chef. I think I've lived through four chefs at this point. And then the menu changes "seasonally" according to the waiter. So every "season" it's a new menu. I never get the joy and comfort of finding food I like and being assured that I can come back and find the things I liked. - I finally figured out that when my friends and family come in from out of town I can't take them to this restaurant and tell them what's good, because I have no idea. And they say "some menu items never change" - but they do. The batter that makes the fried green tomatoes is different. The loose ravioli, which I LOVED, tastes saltier that it did. It doesn't taste as good. I Love this restaurant, but I'm not sure I will be back, which may be for the better.
I grew up with relatively little money. "Risking" money to 'discover' if there is anything on your new menu that I like - because y'all constantly and consistently change the menu is not my way to go.
Also, keeping menu items the same, but the item being made differently than it once was, is disappointing.
But I LOVE the owners and I always want to support this restaurant. This was the only restaurant I have suggested to guests and family who have visited New Orleans in the past 4 years. So my name and my taste in food are on the line when I bring guests. A lack of consistency is troubling.
A Summer getaway to NOLA to explore art and great cuisine brought us to Atchafalaya for Brunch. The ambiance was nice and our waiter was superb! There was a mix up with our drink order and the Bartender tried to make us pay twice for a drink that was prepared incorrectly at first. The waiter went above and beyond to rectify the situation and ensure that the bartenders actions didn’t leave a sour taste in our mouths. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING —The Turtle & Tasso Gumbo, Fried Green Tomatoes, Seared Jumbo Gulf Shrimp & Grits and Duck Hash were perfect choices and all were full of flavor. I love that they offer Brunch daily and will definitely have to indulge in the extensive Bloody Mary Bar next time. Our cocktail selections were the Cracklin’ Rosé and Judy In Disguise. Both were delicious!
We had a lovely date! It was so nice to enjoy a restaurant in our own neighborhood!
Delicious food and friendly staff!
Incredible experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in we had a warm welcome from our host. The bartender made all of us FANTASTIC cocktails and I will have to confess we are cocktail snobs. Our server A.J. gave what all of felt was beyond five star service. Not one single dish we had needed any seasoning or any alteration at all. We were beyond amazed that every single dish was prepared to perfection. All six of us are in the service industry and I have run restaurants all over the country and we know how difficult it is to execute on that level. Congratulations to everyone at Atchafalaya! You should take a moment and pat yourselves on the back. Amazing experience. Open Table diners if you are reading this and considering this restaurant, you are a fool if you don't choose this wonderful restaurant for a great experience.
Excellent restaurant, la cuisine est typique de la Louisiane dans un beau décor loin de la bruyante Bourbon Street.
Service impeccable et très gentil et compréhensif pour ceux qui comme nous ne parlons pas couramment l anglais .
Great food,service and atmosphere!
I have lived in New Orleans for 3 years and this brunch (Eggs Atchafalaya) landed in my top 5 favorite meals since moving here! Portions are not that big but filling, fresh, and delicious. Bloody Mary Bar is a great touch. Live music was great (very loud when seated in front room) and staff was courteous.
Everything very good. One of the orders was fish, drum. There was almost no fish. It was my wife’s and she didn’t want to complain. The fish may have been 2 ounces. A bite and a half for me. Either serve fish or take it off the menu. The little piece of bread in the dish was twice the size of the fish. Pooooor value.
We enjoyed our first time here. It was delicious and service was excellent! Nice neighbor place and ample parking was a plus for us. Bartender was very friendly and drinks were superb. We will visit again.
Brunch was delicious-really enjoyed the chicken and biscuits. The Bloody Mary bar was fun and the homemade pickles the best! The server was very considerate of my food allergies and assisted in making the best food choices. Really enjoyed our experience.
Fantastic as always.
Lovely service, wonderful food- Highly recommend the boudain balls- Hands down my favorite dish in New Orleans! Atchafalaya is a great restaurant that somehow flawlessly combines warmth, coziness, and exceptional service. Does cozy high end make sense? Cause that's what it was. We will be back.
Always amazed at how good the food is!! Hard to make a decision on what to eat. Will be back soon.
