"At The Bar" by August (1) Five is a curated bar program within a modern Indian restaurant named for the date commemorating India’s independence from British rule. Located in the heart of San Francisco’s Civic Center neighborhood, we invite our guests to explore the nuances of Indian cuisine rarely seen in the West. Owned by Hetal Shah.

August (1) Five has a winner in this first ATB offering. This 5 course tasting dinner was creative, fun and delicious. The "menu" is a little booklet with a poem along with a list of ingredients for each course. Even so, you will not be able to guess exactly what you will be having. Rest assured, you will enjoy them all. Each course comes with some type of adult beverage even if all are not in the traditional glass. I won't divulge any secrets to spoil your fun as many of the courses are truly surprising. Since the price includes the dinner, beverages, tax and tip it is a real bargain!
