This is the first time we've been to this restaurant, and the food was excellent. We had the raw tuna appetizer and we were impressed. One of the diners with us was gluten and dairy free, and the waiter and the kitchen went out of their way to accommodate her, even toasting a pita for her hummus appetizer. We all ordered the swordfish, and it was one of the best I've ever had. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but it is so well worth it. I recommend highly.
It took a very long time to be acknowledged and it wasn’t crowded inside. The waiter that seemed to be assigned to our table just kept walking by. Finally Brian came and tended to us. Drinks took a very long time to come, steak was not cooked to our ordering preference and the lobster tail was tough.
Fabulous deck and very nice service. Only the live music was too loud and disturbing
Had a difficult time getting a reservation and when we arrived the restaurant had very few patrons. Set ice was good. Food wasn’t anything special. Was a bit surprised but will it it another try when in Newport again.
Underwhelming but the location was nice.
It was a breath of fresh air without the huge crowds! Perfect night out with friends!
Amazing food and service!
@ the Deck certainly didn’t have the look of a fine dining restaurant, but the food, service and overall experience was 5 star. I shared a huge avocado salad that was excellent. Then I had the fish and chips. It was fresh and the best prepared cod I’ve ever had. It just melted in my mouth. My wife had the tuna 3 ways and it was also done extremely well. The only negative was that the entree came out a little too quickly, just 10 minutes after the salad.
We had a nice time at The Deck last night. The atmosphere was nice and quiet inside. My husband enjoyed the swordfish, while my chicken parmesan was just ok. We both loved the fried ice cream. The dinner did not include salad. There is a parking lot on the Waites Wharf near the restaurant, so you don't have to park far away. All in all, I would recommend The Deck.
Average dinner and service. Limited menu selection was uninspiring and it was served cold. Deceptive website showed live dancing music but all they had was jazz. We left disappointed and won’t be back
Nice location, Ken the bartender and server was fantastic !
So happy we found this place on Open Table. It’s a little off the main path, but worth it to have a nice dinner inside or outside. We would definitely go back.
Wow this spot was a gem. The view was beautiful, the parking was plentiful the staff was polite and attentive. We will be back!
Our server, Tianna was very delightful and a great server. We would definitely come back.
Good casual dining, good service and music, food very good
We dined outside - close to the water and boats. It was a relaxing, casual and slightly upscale environment. The Manager and waiter were both very friendly and accommodating. They really made the night. The Poke bowls were excellent - 2 of us had the tuna and one of us had the salmon, but both were very fresh. Another person had the lobster roll and he thought it was excellent too. They also had a 2-man band that night so we stayed for a while and listened to music and danced. The band was awesome. Overall, we had a great time and I would definitely come back again. Maybe next time we'll eat inside and sit at the bar so we can watch the Chef cook. That's always been my favorite thing to do here, but we chose outside because it was such a beautiful night and the menu is now the same inside and outside. They used to have a more upscale menu inside.
Wife and I arrived under the tent in the pouring rain. Not many people so we picked out a quiet spot. She ordered the Swordfish steak, I ordered the lobster carbonara. We both ordered drinks, which were promptly provided. The food was excellent. Swordfish cooked exactly as requested, the carbonara was full of flavor.
Very good food, service and beverage experience.
Surf and turf was bone-in filet ordered medium and came cooked medium well and the poached lobster was extremely tough and rubbery. Nice outdoor deck with music and bar but would not recommend the entrees
Overall, it was okay. My lobster roll and shrimp cocktail were good. My dicing partner said his burger wasn't medium, but medium well. He didn't say anything though. There was too much vermouth in my martini, but again, I don't typically complain unless it's serious. The manager was a bit rude and that really put me off. Our server, however was great.
Unfortunately, some of the most basic items were done incorrectly. It was clear the restaurant was short staff, I suspect the kitchen was short staffed as well. The bar could not mix a correct drink like a mojito. They couldn’t get it done right twice. The kids chicken tenders were over cooked and stale. The pasta they used for my lobster carbonara was literally Asian instant noodles. It wasn’t any type of Italian pasta I’ve ever tasted. The NE Clam chowder was very salty and watery. The only dish that was slightly passable was the pea risotto. It was overall a disappointment…
Good food, good drinks
The food (lobster roll) & frozen drinks were great. The service was prompt & every one that stopped by our table was attentive. It’s tucked away in the back with little signage so it can be tricky to find. Don’t let that deter you. It was nice to eat along the water & admire the boats.
Took a bit for our waiter to come over and take our drink order- we tried split an order of wings as an appetizer with two different flavors - the waiter immediately told us the kitchen doesn’t like special requests and usually will not accommodate - but he would ask- the answer was no - but he did have a good work around the lack of flexibility from the kitchen- which without guests they need to realize they would not have a job! The food was very good but very overpriced - we had to find the waiter to pay
Never disappoints..surf & turf as excellent, service was awesome and view is incredible!
While the server was very attentive the food was poorly cooked, one dinner grossly over cooked and the other under cooked. Server requested the manager to speak with us, he never showed
Wonderful view and food
Swordfish was amazing and the fish and chips were delicious. Big Lux on the violin was awesome, but a bit loud for dinner time. Server was good, but did not instill confidence about celiac-friendly meal options. The manager came out when the meal was ready and made us much more comfortable with that, though. All in all, a great meal in a great location! We’ll be back!
Not worth the hype
Had such a wonderful time here for dinner! The food and service were amazing. The staff was super friendly and attentive. We even decided to stay for a few drunk after dinner and the vibe was so fun! Definitely can’t wait to come back here when we return to Newport for another weekend.
The food was good. The service was lacking attention. Wasn’t offered ground pepper in our chowder. Didn’t receive salad dressing with salad. Waitress didn’t check back after we received our appetizers to see if we needed anything. Manager was nice and brought it to us after we flagged him down.
Love watching the chefs work their magic at the inside kitchen bar. Always a top notch meal...we've been coming here for years on our annual trip to Newport.
On the deck. Had music we enjoyed. Nick our water was great. Chicken Cesar was gross, chicken was freezing cold but clam chowder was great. All drinks on deck are in plastic. They handled my allergy restrictions well but forgot the cheese on my burger.. its ok, I can drip my cholesterol a bit lol we never said anything about the cesar being a huge disappointment
The front staff girls were all lovely when I had to move my rez. by a few minutes. Mark our server was a total delight ! We will always come back from now on:)
Delicious swordfish! 🤤
Our waiter, Pierce was very nice. He was attentive, but also let us eat at our own pace. The food
This was a party deck. On a Sunday. Not a great environment for a family dinner. Not a big deal but the way the place is described does not match the environment. Not nearly as elegant as the prices or food would suggest.
Fantastic waterside atmosphere. Great seafood and creative mixed drinks. Andy was an outstanding server.
Absolutely horrible. If you’re 21 and looking to get wasted and not remember your night then this is your spot. The food was terrible and the cocktails were horrid. I paid $38 for Lobster Carbonara and got ramen noodles with barely any lobster. Stay away!!
We had a little difficulty finding the restaurant in that there is very little signage (that we saw) and the restaurant is tucked well off of the main road.
Food and service was excellent. We were seated inside so the ambience was very different from the outside deck. I wish the inside had a better set up to see the water views. The inside was a little dark.
