Amazing as usual... love the staff and the food..
Outstanding service and environment. Their win list is excellent and always great recommendations and parings with food
Very pleasant visit to @the Barn. We were seated promptly for our reservation and service was very prompt. I sampled one of their specialty drinks, a blueberry mule, which was quite good.
Hand cut fries were very good and a nice start to meal. We both had steak, I tried the hangar steak, my companion a filet. Both were ordered medium rare and were cooked correctly. Ice cream dessert from grassroots was extremely good.
Overall, a great evening. Ryan was our server and did a great job.
My wife and I were celebrating our 52nd anniversary. We invited 9 others to join us @ the Barn to celebrate.
Unfortunately, Open Table could only accommodate 8 using the app.
I stopped by @ The Barn to add the additional invitees and inquire about an isolated venue.
We had tried for the separate upstairs dining room, but were informed that it was too hot and we were seated in the main dining area.
We all had a most enjoyable dinner. Not at all rushed. Good food. Impeccable service. Quiet enough to have conversations. We took 3 hours to finish.
This was a fantastic venue for midweek entertaining.
Our work team came for a business lunch yesterday. Food was delicious and service was great!
Awesome place - great for a business meal. Wide selection on the menu and never disappoints.
Food was excellent, service was great, very clean, only negative was portions were a little small
In my opinion, The Barn is the best restaurant in the Farmington Valley. My wife and I had a blast and we look forward to going back very soon. We were pleased with the drink menu all the way up to the main entree.
We were greeted and seated properly. Our waiter came and took drink orders promptly. We order two appetizers which were good and prepared properly. I asked for a side of horseradish which was forgotten. The waiter apologized and quickly corrected. The wait for our entrees took exceedingly long to get. Almost an hour between our apps and our entree. The food was good but I asked for medium rare on my beef and it came well done. Another in our party asked for their salmon rare (the waiter said it was sushi grade) and it was cooked all the way through. Despite these flaws the food tasted very good. We will go back.
Really like the food, our waiter Ryan was FANTASTIC!
Great menu, food cooked to perfection. Service was a lacking a bit, not the a waitress issue, she was great, just overwhelmed, she had big parties. Alittle pricey, but worth it.
A recommendation from a friend.
4:30 dinner reservation was made and seated immediately.
First visit, excellent. Will be back!
The Old Fashions that was ordered was extremely expensive and severely lacking for what provided. The shellfish that came in the Paella that was ordered had sand in each and every bite. I will not recommend this place.
Consistently good here. Never disappointed. Something to please everybody. Very nice wine & martini offerings too. Solid restaurant.
We had been to @ the Barn before and found the menu better. Don’t know what changed, but, in our opinion, the menu was not as appealing and the food was well prepared, but nothing special. My scallop main course came with a huge mass of rice with Peapods mixed in. A separate vegetable would have been appreciated. Burger and steak , ordered by others, was prepared as requested, but the exterior was charred. Nothing wrong with that, but it was not to the liking of those in our party.
Overall a nice place to eat with good food.
Horrible food and horrible service. Will not return.
This was our first experience at The Barn. The meals were very good. Three people with three different entrees--Hangar Steak, Paella and Riscotto. All were excellent. The Hangar Steak was, in fact, the best prepared that I have eaten at any restaurant in the Hartford area. Reservations at dinner, especially on the weekends is a must! The prices for the meals were very fair. The only slight drawback was that the restaurant was bit noisy--clearly everyone was enjoying their meals and talking and able to carry on a conversation but at times the level of noise did make it difficult to sometimes hear what your fellow diner was saying to you. But this problem seems to affect all restaurants in the area. Overall though our experience was very good--and the meals especially were excellent.
We went to the Barn for date night. We wanted to try someplace new and we saw some good reviews but it was VERY disappointing. We sat outside as it was a beautiful night but I had to go inside twice and speak to the host before a waiter came over. Finally, a very inexperienced waiter came by and we placed our drink and appetizer order. Within 5 minutes, the appetizer came but it was almost 40 minutes before we got our first cocktail. We ordered our dinner, steak for my husband and chopped salad for me. The food was just ordinary and my salad actually tasted like it was washed in dish soap. We like to frequent local establishments but the Barn is a definite "pass".
The food was wonderful, the wait staff was stretched the night I was there. Food turn around was very slow, worth the wait time
Nice location. Decor was very nice. Our server was nice and attentive. The appetizers of chowder and calamari were good. Meals, we had a burger, pork chop, risotto dish, steak and 2 duck dishes. The duck and the steak were way over done. The sprouts that came with the steak tasted like chopped sprouts in oil with no seasoning. The burger was flawless. The risotto dish was oily and over seasoned. The duck was blah and over done for doneness asked. Overall not memorable food. Too bad because on sight the location sets a high bar the food just didn’t reach.
Service to start was very slow then picked up. Food was good, not great, not enough for the prices
Lovely meal as usual. The more we come here the more we like it! Had scallops and risotto which were done perfectly and very tasty. My husband had a filet Mignon for the first time and it was flavorful and tender, I agree because I tried it. He ordered it medium-rare and the next time he would order rare more to his taste. We usually save our steaks for one of the Max chains but friends said they were good here. Anyway no disappointments and overall a satisfactory and pleasant meal! So nice to have a restaurant of this caliber five minutes away!
Really like this place, great to grab a higher end meal, without a long drawn out dining process..
We love the Barn. There are closer restaurants to go for brunch, but we always choose this restaurant. The food is delicious and reasonable, but it is truly the service we love. Yesterday, there was some kind of problem with the bar so our drinks were delayed but not by much. They comped them. This is a fun restaurant with good moderately priced food with the best service around.
We love this place. Great staff and great food. We will continue to come here.
I was not impressed with The Barn. The fondue was watery and was more of a cheese dip. I was expecting a more traditional melted cheese dish where I could dip the items of my choice. The veggies were incorporated into the cheese, which is what made it watery. I had a hangar steak that was supposed to be mid-rare. Most of it was well done with the exception of the end of the steak, which was the right temperature. They sliced the steak, so they knew it was over cooked. My wife’s beet salad had almost no beets. She also ordered the lobster tail, which was undercooked.
Regular Friday night dinner with family - kids & grandkids.
The Barn looks great, the menu looked great, the food was slightly above average but not exceptional. Prices OK.
First time visit. With that said the setting is nice, inside is a welcome surprise compared to outside. Not a negative just inside is very nice. Wife ordered 1/2 lobster tail and NY strip. Asked for tail to be grilled and it was EXCELLENT! Her steak was ordered medium well and stressed more towards well. Came rare! After re-fire (my opinion whenever a steak is ordered should be newly cooked-not re-fired) was medium and still bleeding.
My grilled prime was well and ordered medium. My re-cook was PERFECT and very tasty.
Manager too wife's ntire meal off bill and offered dessert. The Ceme brulee (misspelled I'sure) is excellent as is the cheese cake.
Other than NY strip it was a good meal. Very good service other than continued asking for water to be filled. This is an issue almost every single restaurant is plagued with. Even when they have young men and women whom are assigned to this task. They should be trained to always look at table making sure beverages are full.
great experience for my mom and I !!
We enjoyed lunch on Mother’s Day. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. It is a little tight upstairs but bearable. It is on the noisy side but would not prevent us from going back. The prices are fair and they have many food choices that all sounded wonderful. We will be going back as well as telling our friends to visit!
We were a party of four for Mother’s Day brunch. The restaurant was very cold and there was a vent blowing cold air directly on the side of the table that my mother and I were sitting at. Our waiter was very soft spoken and hard to understand. Our food came out pretty quickly, but all four of us were left disappointed— my mother and my husband both found the hollandaise bland, my brother thought the chicken was dry bland and the gravy on his chicken and waffles had no flavor, and I thought my French toast was mushy and once again, very bland. The only flavor came from the caramel drizzle. We did all enjoy the bacon we ordered as a side dish, but overall our entrees were very flavorless. We were only at the restaurant for about 40-45 minutes and it wasn’t even full, but we felt like we were being rushed by many staff members who kept stopping by our table as we were finishing up and paying the bill. I’ve been here twice before and the service and food was much better, but I’m not sure if we’ll be returning after this experience.
Absolutely love the Barn!! One of our top places to go and never disappointed!!!
Excellent meal with great service. Will definitely be back!
This was a great choice. Friendly, efficient service and food, nicely prepared and presented.
This was my second time visiting @The Barn. My first visit was with a couple of friends and everyone had a nice time. I didn’t love it but decided to give it another try. This time, my husband and I went with another couple of friends who have never been. They seemed to like it overall.
However, there were a few things lacking.
I got the Barn 17 salad which was awesome. I loved everything about it. The calamari was ok...not the best I’ve had. For dinner, I ordered the Shrimp a la Plancha. I didn’t care for it at all. The shrimp didn’t have any seasoning it seemed. The asparagus was good. The risotto was so incredibly bland...I’ve never had a risotto I didn’t like until this one. I also had this the first time and it was ok then as well but not quite as bland. I should have just gone with something else.
Our waitress was ok. She seemed to be rushing us. Didn’t let us know if there were any specials. It was kind of odd. She probably had a lot of tables since it was a Saturday night but our whole table thought she was a bit unprofessional.
Also, the bar had the Kentucky Derby on and there was a group of people watching. A few individuals were very loud while watching it. This was not enjoyable to listen to while trying to talk at our table. I realize it was a customer yelling and not a staff member but it would be nice if there was some additional separation between the bar and the rest of the restaurant.
Overall, I may go back but only if friends ask us to go.
The service was great & everyone at the table was satisfied. Good food & atmosphere.
Great service with excellent food.
Great food, service, and environment. Really enjoyed it.
A great enjoyable place to go. Attractive appearance, nice seating, good food, you can hear each other talk. A pleasant place for lunch or dinner.
